  • Knife Disarming is not recommended as a first option in a knife fight however it is a skill that can be added to a combat artist tool box for another option. If not to disarm the movement and control found in this drill are valuable to understanding how to manipulate an opponent. Remember this is just a drill that is meant to help build skill sets. Enjoy!

I have seen and been in real knife attacks and I have never seen a one handed knife attack... could you work out a drill where the attacker anchors to victim with an off hand then does the sowing machine with the weapon hand at 1 to 2 stabs per second? drills build skills

If you let your attacker close enough to put hands on you and work a knife... You seriously already fucked up. Distance and timing- you control those two factors, then you'll dominate the scenario

GOOD POINT. YOU NEVER LOOK FOR A DISARM. THE MOST EFFECTIVE DISARM IS TO DEFANG THE SNAKE WHICH IS TO ATTACK THE HAND HOLDING THE WEAPON WITH A STICK OR A KNIFE. IF YOU GET STUCK AFTER YOU ATTACK THE HAND HOLDING THE WEAPON, THEN YOU COULD DISARM.

Hello thanks for watching. The knife I am using most in this video is from Tuhon Ray Dionaldo head of FCS Kali. This is his Quick Draw knife. I also use the Keen Edge Boot knife and sheath now carried by Century Martial arts.

There shouldn't be any knife spinning. At any moment you could lose that weapon. You work with what you get. There isn't time to think about anything else in such a dangerous situation

funny how most filipinos don't recognize the names of yester year's great escrimadors. And the art itself is changing, evolving with the tendencies of present day instructors. And it's the same with regard to many cultural assets of most cultures around the world.

No offense man who ever thought you that move wants you dead cause thats not how it's done you dont even have balance it's really not done that way i think you should get your money back cause if you fight someone who knows kali you'll be lying in a pool ofyour own blood you should move w you're hands and feet and you're movement should flow and you're balance should be your most important skill because your balance and movements should always put your attacker out balance you shouldn't really teach man look for a real master of the art not pretender because if you move like what you're doing your dead again no offense believe me it's not a joke you even keep head down while trying block and and you're disarming is all wrong my apologies if grab someone like that he will throw you in you're ass and cut your neck

Hello brother, you present your comment in a very passive aggressive sounding way. I guess there are four questions I have:
      1st who is your teacher/teachers
      2nd what are your credentials
3rd show me a video where you explain what you mean.
4th how many knife fights have you been in.
In all my videos I present just concepts to help teach skill sets. The skill sets aren't meant to be done in a drill fashion however teaching skills are best done through repetition of drills. Most of what I present I am sure I can pull off if presented the right circumstance where it fits. Footwork and lots of movement are fine when you have space and the time to do so but conflict always has many forms and thus training should take many shapes. Answer my questions so we can dive further into this topic.

@@drillstoskills2677 fist question my father second there are no belts in this art bcause it is not like the karate or the BJJ that you see it is only thought to family members or clan members there are no locking nor submission the aim of this self defense is to finish the fightas soon as possible thirdly there willbe no videos for you for no one will be that stupid to show you that he has killed a person in a knife fight the aim of the art is to preserve the life of the family the village during tribal wars its not for show i hope you got what I mean no offense

@@herminigildodelacruzjr1752 its always a weird conversation when someone talks family systems and no way to show you what they are claiming they no a lot about. Learning how to use a gun is much the same concept. Normally if a gun comes out to fire it is meant to kill. However, there are drills to help facilitate this based on what is happening, how it happens and how you and your opponent respond. If you look at this drill many of the targets are to vital areas and then we build the drill by saying what if he has a stroke of luck and blocks parries or counters the move. You need a next step if you are to be a trained warrior. To believe that you train in your basement and that you killing blow will land no matter what and there will be no fight in the other guy or no ability to fight through a wound or counter will leave you at a loss. By the way I did not ask you to show me a video of you killing someone. I asked for a video of you demonstrating what type of movement or techniques you are referring to. To say it can't be done always raises skepticism. There are no belts in a lot of systems including the kali and silat system I train in.

@@drillstoskills2677 it is good that you train in both arts then you did understand what im talking about because both arts implements defending and attacking at the same time and attack while coutering a counter attack wc is only possible w the right balance if you keep bobbing head in front ahead of your fist its a tell tale to youre opponent and chances are he will cut you in the face but factually attack you inthe body if you say youtrain in both arts then you do know that the strike are always misleading specially if you blocked a stabbing he will flick his wrist and turned it to slashed while pinning one of youre foot andout balance you for the kill i think its already to much information but any way im glad you love the art a south east Asian martial arts so please keep searching for areal master may you find what you need some day i hope you visit the country one day and goodluck like what i always put in every reply no offense
