Just received my wallet in green and the good news is that 1) zipper pulls are way shorter and 2) it is now RFID-protected ... which is great :) Thanks for the review!
Thanks for sharing
Great review! I love how you highlighted the functionality and durability of the Alpaka Zip Pouch. The water-resistant nylon and sleek design make it a must-have for everyday carry. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on this awesome product!
Hey, nothing wrong with a coin purse! Who cares what people think? Coins are the least expensive way to pay at a car park in US. Know of any zippered pouches that are smaller than the Alpaka? I'm looking for a small pouch for coins only. I don't regularly carry coins, just when driving or traveling overseas.
Awesome that you gave a shoutout to George DEFINED -- we both live near Washington, DC. He's got a great sense of humor.
Thanks for the detailed review.
Cheers, Mike
That's a very good point Mike, there's no coin purse shaming here from now on 👍
I'm a massive fan of George's channel and it's one of the reason I started my channel, or at least, he's been a great influence on the content I make. There's definitely a bit of George DEFINED DNA in my content... with an English accent. I hope you're well and having a great week. All the best
I believe the company Sierra Designs makes a smaller and very light weight zipper wallet primarily designed for backpackers. Although their wallet can’t fit cards for some odd reason, but would be great just for coins. Either them or one of those old style rubber coin purses guys used to carry. I use of those and have for years.👍🏽
@@calihiker7980 Thanks! I didn't see one on Sierra Designs site but thanks for the tip on backpacker wallets. This Granite Gear wallet is a little large for coins so I'll keep looking. www.granitegear.com/hiker-wallet.html
Thanks again! ..Mike
Crap! It think it was Granite Gear now that I hear the name. I mixed up the companies.👍🏽
@@calihiker7980 Haha, no worries, man. You got me thinking of new search terms (backpacking wallet) so props for that. And I'm a backpacker, too. Sheesh!
I’m going to have to stop watching the channel - I keep buying things. LOL. Seriously- such good content. Thank you. Bought this and arrived yesterday- really good. I have been using something similar from Chicago’s Defy Bags, but not in x-pac. Used to have an x-pac one from Inside Line Equipment. Both Defy and ILE are worth checking out btw - do amazing handmade bags and slings. Both of these pockets/pouches were a similar size. But this one, the alpaka one, has the extra pocket and also the division in the main pocket - really helpful. Good find, Moorlander! Can even fit a leatherman micra and a little SAK inside too!
Ha ha ha... We're all enablers here Warren. No one ever said it'll be a cheap ride 😂 I need to do one of those public service announcement style "If you've been affected by EDC addiction, call this number 0800...". Thanks for the heads up on Defy and ILE. I'm always looking for gear to test out and make content on. Maybe I'll make something you already own to save you the cost 😄 Have a cracking week my friend
I just received this wallet today on account of your thorough great content and I love it , I recommend this pouch , I put cards, cash, band aids and endless ideas , the only thing that I did is modified the zipper pull and shorten it , looks so much better ,in my opinion it's made to long for such a small pouch, now its perfect , Thanks for sharing
Oh that's awesome to hear. Thanks you for coming back and sharing that. I'm definitely glad to hear my content helped Susan. Have an amazing week
How did you mod the zipper pulls? Curious as I am considering this
Hey man, I just bought the Alpaka Zip Pouch. I’m a bloke who’s been using a basic black leather coin purse as a wallet for over a decade. I’ve replaced them several times, because they just don’t last very long in a man’s jeans pocket. I’m really hoping that the Alpaka will last 10yrs or more. It is fairly minimalist, yes, I constantly have to clean out old receipts, but it does the job. Also, it’s RFID shielded as well. I am thinking of purchasing another one in a different colour to hold my car keys like a faraday pouch.
Hi fella. Yep, the Xpac these are made from is a crazy space age material. I haven't owned anything (yet) for 10 years with it, but hopefully you'll see when yours arrives how strong it is. On that note, I'd love to hear your thoughts when yours does arrive. Have a cracking weekend fella
What a fantastic product. I have just tried ordering, however they want £12 for postage, so it is obvious they wish you to order a lot more than just the smaller value products. May wait until they are available at lower postage cost/through other vendors. Your product reviews re incredibly comprehensive. As always keep up the fantastic work. Thank you.
Thank you Martin, that greatly appreciated. It is a real shame the price of postage and the product are the same. I hope they manage to get a European vendor or distributor to help with the costs. Have a great week, and thanks for watching and commenting 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC maybe you could order a few of these and sell them at a mark up on a @Moorlander EDC merch site 😉
That my friend, is a fine idea 💡
Were you able to find anywhere to get one in the UK?
This is one of the few wallets I've seen that fits my use case quite well but its just not worth getting for the £30 or so I've found it going for.
@@even8490 unfortunately not. Real shame.
liking mine so far. perfect for carrying a pen a bottle opener a small flashlight an edc coin together with cards and cash.
Hi SS, it's such a great little bag. Always cool to hear how other people use theirs. I hope you're having a cracking week buddy
Great review mate. I love minimal wallets and usually carry Bellroys. The Alpaka has a different material and the price is decent. I’m convinced! Will order one.
Hey fella. It's great to hear my content has helped. I'd love to hear your thoughts when yours arrives. Have a great weekend
i use pouches like the chums to put micro tools and handy EDC stuff that is not cards, so to me it doesn't look like a granny pouch, its just my handy pouch that i always have no matter what.
Thanks for the shout out!! Great channel..I love it!
You're more than welcome. I'm a massive fan of yours. I hope you're all well and safe 👍
Perfect, you know your audience! This is going to replace my surfshorts wallet and was wondering about the comparison. Many thanks.
You're more than welcome Dan. I'd love to hear your thoughts when yours arrives 👍 have a great week
Ordered one myself, along with a Stealth Belt, a Modular Phone Sling and a jet black shoulder pad (for my Bravo X Sling V1).
Free shipping to the UK if your order comes to more than around 68 GBP, but then you still have to pay the tax duty as well. Best to buy a few things you like in one go to get the best value, and they have some bundle deals on the website too.
Hi Sunzu, I'd love to hear your thoughts when these arrive. I think purchasing more helps. They need a forum where you can me other people to buy together 😊 have a great weekend

Just ordered one gonna replace my arc bolder wallet . Keep my olight s1r baton and Swiss compact and ID . Great review man .
Hi DT. Always great to hear my content helps. Have a great week
Another great review - just ordered, black version currently on sale for $27. FYI postage is still expensive, even when you live here!
Hi Aidy. Maybe Alpaka have the first part of the route delivered on a silk pillow, hence the extra costs 😄 I'd love to hear your thoughts on it when it arrives. Have a great week my friend
@@MoorlanderEDC Hi Moorlander, I received the Alpaca wallet in green and I’m really pleased with it and it has already replaced my previous edc wallet. Plenty of room for various cards, some folded cash, couple of coins and a cpr face shield. The seperate front pocket is ideal for my swipe card and other regularly used card with the rest in the main section. Very good quality and great piece of kit, thanks again for your review 👍🏼keep up the outstanding reviews.
Definitely a direct competitor to the chums. If I didn’t already have a chums I’d consider it 👍🏽
I love the Chums one. It's got that 1980 Bermuda shorts, Bart Simpson "Don't have a cow maaaahn' retro look. I love it 😀
@@MoorlanderEDC I used to love them Bermuda shorts
The zippers should span across the corner so that when fully opened, 2 of the 4 sides are accessible instead of just 1/4. They do limits the accessibility. An ordinary Gregory pouch is much more usable.
Hi Lia. It's not too much of a struggle getting it in there. I think once you've in and out a dozen times you get used to working around the opening. Is a Gregory pouch a brand name or a type of pouch? Sounds interesting
@@MoorlanderEDC The official name should be Gregory Penny Pouch. It is small, has dividers and holds coins too.
Thanks Lia. I'll take a look
@@MoorlanderEDC that's what she said...... 😂
Nice bit of kit great review thanks for the link 👍
You're more than welcome 👍
I’ve purchased a bit of Alpaka gear and unfortunately it’s the additional vat, shipping and tax that makes the brand expensive for the uk. That coin wallet starts off at £22 but it cost £33 with all the additional cost. Not to bad on something so cheap but does make a difference if you buying a bag for £100-£200.
Agreed. The costs to get them here are crazy. I've heard from viewers in Oz and apparently delivery prices are crazy there too. It's a shame they don't have a European distributor
What’s the max number of cards you can fit in it? I fit 24 in my Chums but I need to carry about 5 more
I've got 10 blank cards I use for reviews plus the 6 everyday cards I keep in my wallet. Still plenty of room for more and cash 👍
I see you did not mention the outside slots? I purchased mine to put some items in there like a Space Pen and a SAK buy as all these pockets eventually all share most of the same space it becomes very tight and difficult to remove cards. If to carry a number of cards is all it’s worth, there are many better wallets or pouches. Even the Chums has a more generous opening on the main pocket.
I love the pouch but can’t seem to find a reason to use it as, as a wallet alone it is awkward and as a tote for small EDC items, it makes it useless on the inside and bulky in a front pocket. A well made pouch indeed. Maybe as a wallet to place in a sling or similar.
Hi Al Thepal. You may have a different version. This is the plain version without the outer slots. They're a reasonably recent addition. This is the original version of the zip pouch. Hope that helps
aww I was this close to getting it just now.. the reason I did not is because I thought it had a strap that goes around your belly. for when you go running and you dont want your stuff to bounce around in your pockets. knife, keys, phone. anyway. good video
Hi Josh. There's a larger version that does have that strap. They're very similar however it's definitely the other one if you need to carry it outside of a pocket.
The one joey pouch you video before,i guess is more practical
I think it's better for not just that however I certainly appreciate your opinion. Weirdly, as I have a few different smaller zip pouches, I'm currently using this to store the spare batteries for my camera... "Only good for keys and coins... and Canon E22 batteries" 😆🤘
Love zip minimalist wallets. County comm has a nice corner zip wallet for $6. Has better card access than yours there. One zip only. Black. ❤
good video making keep it up bro
Thanks, will do!
I think you mean't the X Pac material is hydrophobic? I got one of these, it's good, a little cramped getting cards in and out but it's OK. I got it in the bright ltd edition Orange colour so I can spot it in my rucksack. Good review 👍
Ha ha ha... I had to watch that back 😂 thanks for the heads up
A close competitor will the the micro pouch by defy
Hi Vicente, yes, there seems to be a few of these smaller pouches/wallet popping up recently. Thanks for watching and commenting
Thanks for this! If you're thinking of pulling the trigger and ordering this. You may want to check out the Pro-X version as well as it has external pockets for EDC items such as a knife and flashlight. Worth considering. Anyway, enjoyed this video Moorlander! Nice to see more UK EDC channels on here doing so well. Good luck with future subs etc!
Thanks buddy. That reminds me to pick up one of the newer versions. Hope you're well and having a great week
How wide is the main compartment opening? I want to know if it easily fits a Romania ID card which is 105mm in width. I know the whole pouch is 130mm, but the opening is less than that.
Hi Marian, the mouth/opening is about 95mm. You can fit standard bank cards in there but yiu have to sneak the back in first and then slide it in. Hope that helps
@@MoorlanderEDC Thank you very much! Great review by the way!
Needs RFID. That would take it to the next level.
That would be cool. You can buy RFID blocking cards. They're the same size and thickness of a normal debit card. If you keep it in with the normal cards it'll keep you safe. Always a nice work around
Question : which one do you think wpuld fit more between, alpaka zip pouch and the topo design accecory micro pouch?
Oooooooooooh... now this is an even closer battle. I'd say they're identical... Unfortunately I lost my Topo pouch so I can't definitely say for sure, however I'd say they're pretty much the same
@@MoorlanderEDC thanks alot sir! Then i decided what to get later 🙏🏻
i dont have that wallet but which they make it a little bite bigger.. more zipper to it?
Yes, I'm thinking of picking up the larger version. It's got a proper carry strap to it as well 👍
That pouch looks really nice. I think I'll look into it. Have you done a review of the Chums wallet yet?
HI Aaron. Yes it's a cracking pouch. I haven't made any content on the Chums wallet yet, however it'll be here soon 👍
i have just ordered one for the wife along with the new mobile phone pouch. son ordered her the belt. will let you know what we think of them
Oh cool. I'll 100% be interested in hearing about those items for sure. I your family and yourself are all well Gean. Have a great week
What brand is your knife
I had to rewatch this again to check. That's the SOG Terminus XR buddy. It's a really nice knife for sure. Nice steel and carbon scales
Is it possible to get Alpaka stuff from the UK? I mean not ordering to the UK but buy it here? I am after the Zip Clutch but it costs extra 20 pounds (taxes + delivery) to get it delivered here. Thanks a lot for any tips!
Sorry it took so long to get back to you. I have heard that Alpaka are trying to get a UK/European distributor to help with that. At the moment they don't have anything. Anything that's £135 or less won't have import duty since Brexit if that helps
@@MoorlanderEDC Thank you gor your message and don't worry I am very patient ;)
That clarifies a lot although the tax is automatically added in cart so it can't be avoided.
Don't worry it's not killing the deal but I thought I'd ask in case there are other options.
Thank you.
I have a question, so my end seam is a little offset to the left, so I am unable to insert things like a portables. The company says that’s normal, but yours seems seems perfect?
HI Alex. Do you have anymore details on this? Is this the main zip pocket?
@@MoorlanderEDC yes its end seam is shifted to the left, so I dont know how to explain it properly but if I pull both zippers to the right, the main pocket zipper ends right in front of where it lines up to the front of the secondary compartments zipper
@@amulet222 yes, I think I know what you mean. My main pocket has. Stopper that means the main zip won't open all the way to one side too. I assumed it was to prospect the zipper from opening too far
I didn't think this would annoy me as much as it does now that I have it in hand. The length of the zipper is literally the same length as my Chums wallet, only the Chums zipper goes all the way from end to end. There's an opening on both ends where water could potentially seep in. I also have no idea why they chose to put the leather pull tabs on the small pouch, while pictures I've seen of the Max have metal ones.
I dunno. I'm going to use it as my EDC wallet for about a week to see how I feel about it.
This review is what i’m looking for while waiting mine to arrive. Just a question, do you experience difficulty when putting and getting credit card? I like your pioneer carry wallet too. Nice choice of wallet.
Hi Jeyxi. Thank you for the kinds words. Definitely no issues getting stuff in and out. With the opening being longer than a normal card they slip straight in. The Molecule from Pioneer Carry is a brilliant wallet too. I have a review on that too 👍
@@MoorlanderEDC nice. Thanks for the confirmation. The pioneer wallet looks stiff on your video and needs to break in. Gonna look your review on that too.
Are you getting the matching Zip Pouch Max?
I got the email about the Max today. I may have to check that out 😉Maybe some future content 🤞 I hope you're doing well Sunzu
the wallet looks perfect for my needs. I went to purchase one with your link however it's 12 quid shipping to the UK? What's up with that? I can't justify that shipping cost, real shame! :-(
Hi Jaybird. Yeah, it's a really shame their postage is so high. I've had comments from people in Oz and they've said their postage is roughly the same there even though it's posted in their own country. Generally I've always advised on clubing stuff together. I can't remember the exact price but it's over £XXX amount, it's free postage. Picking up a sling and a zip pouch in the sales is a great way to get stuff over here without that postage fee is key. Also, I appreciate you choosing to use one of my links. It's the easiest way for anyone to help support the channel and definitely appreciated. I hope you're well and having a great week
Have you seen the Hub Pouch from Alpaka?
Hi RCU, I have yes. It's on my list of things to make some content on for sure. Is this something you've picked up yourself or looking to get?
Absolutely! It looks fantastic!
Ordered. Hope I don't have to pay customs :S
Are yiu here in the UK Captain? If so, since Brexit we have a magic £135 amount. Anything to that amount or less is free, or at least, anything above that amount is where import duty starts. I've started buying a lot more from Amazon US because of this. I made this a while back if it helps ruclips.net/video/F8Tfy64Ywrg/видео.html
