To be fair, these are the most “anticipated” horror movies. Part of the reason for their anticipation is the fact it’s a sequel or remake or reimagining; people are already familiar with the story / brand / characters / themes. So that feeds into or even causes the anticipation entirely
If this video was about the “best” upcoming horror movies, or ones with the most potential, there likely may be more entirely new concepts

Stefani learns that though her grandmother thwarted Death (until she died in her 80s), and Death has been going after the would-have-been victims of that long-ago catastrophe, killing them off and then going after their children. Probably unpopular opinion, but the first hour of The Exorcist: Believer really was quite solid and engaging, but right about at the 1hr mark, ironically when Ellen Burstyn makes her appearance, the whole production goes into a rapid freefall. Sorta felt like the producers got WAY too comfortable with a sequel already greenlit and in the pipeline and didn't even care about wrapping up the first film.

Adaptations literally built the film industry. Many of the most iconic films of the golden age were adaptations of popular/classic novels. Complaining about the “lack of original ideas” just sounds pretentious. Adaptations are completely valid. They also make much more business sense because an adaptation tends to come with a built in fan base that translates to customers/money.

@@karl_alan Yeah, but what IPs have grown big enough to encourage such spoofs? The last great IP we had, at least in recent memory, was from Marvel... and even that, was an established set of characters and shows.
The fact is Scary Movie depends on successful movies/shows, and these have to be new. Once they have exhausted one IP, that IP is untouchable for the next movie. So if they spoof Scream, it becomes untouchtable for the next series. To shoot a full 90 minute movie... with exhausted source material is what I'm alluding to.

But right now I have like 8 horror movies in my theater, and only 2 of them are sequels or reboots...honestly, there's more diversity in horror than ever, but you're not going to find it on an "anticipated" list, because those lean toward movies where people have heard of the franchise.

This AM my bro in the US told me Ari Astor is workin on a project that sounds A LOT Like A24's Civil war as a 'modern day western based on political division' so i think itll be like an alt reality where the nation split over less divisive lines than irl cuz it hits too close to home rn and it becomes a guerilla civil war type thing but the cast sounds wild too
OBV we know Ari from Herditary/Midsommar etc but people like ANtosca from the underrated af show CHannel Zero went on to do The Act (true crime show) that won awards and was brilliant tbh, but ari's so good at horror/folk horror i hope theres enough suspense/psych/horror to sink my teeth into
if anyone knows more about this ari astor thing let me know!

I unashamedly love every single movie in the Final Destination franchise, and I absolutely DO NOT WANT to see Bludworth's origin.
The questionable motives and beginnings of the character are exactly what make him so mysterious and entertaining.

Coming after two banger previous entries, and with Cristopher Landon as the director, I was extremely eager to see Scream VII.
And then they had to screw over the main character because she dared speak against genocide.
I don't doubt that they can still make a good movie out of it, honestly. But I simply would not feel comfortable giving my money to it. Pity.

I'm SO done with sequels & prequels.
If Hollywood wants me to pay for their movies, then they need to start looking for original screenplays.
    Otherwise, they can piss off!

And then they set the 28 Days franchise in the distant future with 28 Decades later, where 280 year in the future, it's a dystopian world where people hunt zombies for sport, and blah blah blah. Don't get me started on 28 centuries later...

I have loved everything Mike Flanagan has done, I really don't need any more Exorcist movies. The original is still amazing, but it spawned SO many possession movies, and the franchise itself is mostly clunkers, that I really feel like I'd be fine seeing this franchise just end. There are better ideas out there to explore, books to adapt, and even plenty of great movies that never got a sequel or remake.

I know many will disagree, but It Follows is just barely an ok movie to me. I watched it due to the hype (learned my lesson not to ever again, allow so-called “hype” to make decisions for me) and I was underwhelmed. I’d rather watch a Jason or Freddy movie than watch it again. Maika Monroe, I know she’s getting rave reviews for Longlegs and yes she’s a good actress, but she plays the same character to me. It Follows, Watcher, Longlegs, she’s good at emotionless blank stares & looking tired. Also the flip flop flippy floppity flippity flip flop back & forth off DGG Halloween trilogy is 2 yrs old now. You can move on from not knowing if you hate it or not.

That hasn’t been the alleged plot in idk how long. It’s called bloodlines bc it’s actually gonna be like that supernatural episode where imagine if the titanic didn’t sink but it was always supposed to.
    Misinformation whatculture. And I’m petty.
