Why didn’t mention how she avoided the confrontation about Reese. Lieberman tried to minimize the effects of Reese’s actions and statements and Stephan A did’t push it he let her finish and went over it like it was nothing and went on WRONG Bring it out in the open don’t just go over it as if not said. Everyone is afraid. There’s more injustice and racism than ever before. Don’t ask young people or 30 to fifty year olds l am 81 years old. I’ve seen it and see it today. It’ much worse and getting worse by the day.
Wow! Nancy Lieberman's insight and assessment on WNBA; transformational players - Tiger, MJ, Simone, Caitlin...amazing! Nice job SAS getting her on the show.
My aggreeance is with Nancy, caitlyn clark is a generational talent. Theres a lot of hate coming from players and coaches because of her stardom. @francisoconner3596
God bless you Ms. Lieberman. You may be the very first woman I’ve heard praise & respect Ms. Clark for her accomplishments & who she is as a person. Her talent, hard work & humility are all traits that made her the best. You’re looking at her true value & keeping ego out of the equation. Her greatness shouldn’t hurt any one else, because it doesn’t take away from past greats. Thank you
Thank you SAS! Thank you Nancy Lieberman for your time and everything you gave in this interview. I'm a former D1 athlete from the early 2000's and I reaped off the insane hard work that former women in athletics plowed through before me. They plowed through for themselves, us and now the upcoming generation. Thank you Nancy Lieberman, I replayed this interview a few times. It brought a therapy vibe, inspiration, and an insane amount of hope 💚
Thank you, Nancy, for giving credit where credit is due. And thank you, Mr. Smith for giving the once in a lifetime phenomenon named Caitlin Clark proper recognition inside the WNBA. Good on both of you for being a class act.
This was such a great interview Mr Smith! I had no idea who Nancy Lieberman was until the wings vs fever game. She won me over with her honesty and poise in which she conveys her thoughts. It’s a shame that Sheryl still behaves the way that she does in spite of great minds like you and Nancy explaining to her how she can redeem herself. I’ve listened to this interview twice and it is just wonderful!
Nancy you Stephen A. have a lot of knowledge which you can share with us and thank you folks for that sharing. Yes, too many catfights going on and now you Ladies "STOP IT." That's all folks!!!!
Love how real Stephen Smith is! And how refreshing to hear from Lieberman, this women knows basketball, NBA should add her to their crew to call games.
Clark has been signing autgraphs for young girls for the past four years. She's still signing autographs on the jerseys she sells after every game. She started a foundation that supports children with nutrition, education, and healthcare. I don't hear anyone talkìng about the connection shes made with the communiities in Iowa. She is a great role model for young girls. Many of the players are great role models. The Dallas team could certainly offer a discounted ticket for kids under 15 who want to meet the players. A little effort goes a long ways. Thanks I enjoy your show, Chris
Fantastic interview, I agree with almost everything Nancy Leiberman said. She's clearly a great basketball mind with some of the insights she provided.
Caitlyn Clark, Angel Reese and Aja Wilson are the bag for the WNBA. Protect the bag!! Can you imagine what would happen if Caitlyn Clark suffered a career ending injury due to one of these flagrant foul purposely aimed in her direction. The WNBA would be over!! Fans would deem the remaining players undeserving of support because they would feel the players sabotaged her and would boycott the WNBA. If they think fans didn’t show up before… let Caitlyn Clark get hurt and see what happens.
Swoopes is so spiteful and such a narcissist she would rather lose her friendship with this wonderful legend and person then accept she was wrong about CC.
Great interview to great basketball minds , complete fair observations of every player mentioned, no harsh criticism of anyone which i find. to be refreshing , heard this ladies name before, but know who she was ,now i know, a great human being
Two of the most knowledgeable analyst in basketball. I feel honored just to listen to you. The content of your knowledge is needed in basketball. Thanks!🎆🎆🎆
CC is just playing BB to the best of her ability she carries herself with class on and off the court Jealousy is a terrible thing to have CC never bad mouth's nobody as long as she keeps carrying herself in a positive way she's going to continue to do well for herself and her team and that's very good for the WNBA!her jealous critics will fade away.Nancy is a class act and speaks with wisdom
I'm tired of all of this! CC is great and they ALL hate it. It's her time and i hope she does nothing but EXCEL!!! Keep being classy CC, and make each one of them eat their words!!
The problem with the WNBA is that the old guard are demanding respect and acknowledgment that they feel they should have. And they are demanding it from a generation that didn’t see them play. The people of their generation didn’t care for them. They didn’t want to watch them. So now that they see this new guard being praised they feel disrespected. They are blinded by their ego. And there’s where the jealousy and resentment comes from. But these are not their fans. These are this new generation fans. These new players look up to them. Idolize them. Want to learn from them and be mentored by them. So if the old guard want to be praised by these “new fans” they have to embrace these new players and their fans will notice that and start to give them their flowers as well. Cause let’s be honest. Before the new fans came you couldn’t really talk about a fan base for the WNBA matches weren’t sold out. Merchandise wasn’t sold out. Media wasn’t talking about them. So stop being jealous and ride that wave
The jealousy and resentment also comes from the fact that your dealing with women. Women frown on other women’s success and this is something I have herd from other women.
Steven was absolutely right about the Olympics , billions of dollars were lost cause of the committee, disgusting, is the committee worth the billions of dollars lost to the American economy , i dont think so
Someone with some power needs to appoint Nancy Leiberman as commissioner of the WNBA asap. Enough of this analyst sht. WNBA has been shooting itself in the foot for so long that they need a shake up from top to bottom and remarketing of the league. Remember less than two years ago that the most relevant WNBA player was Britney Griner. This is no different than the NBA of the late 70s needing to clean up its mess (in the form of its perception to middle america). It began to do that when Magic and Bird arrived. Well, Caitlin Clark's arrived and I like her because she's a woman who is exposing why the WNBA hasn't made a profit. Men like her and the other women don't. We're happy CC's getting paid (so we don't have to hear complaining about being paid less than the men). They're the ones who are too short sighted to see a rising tide lifts all ships.
Where Nancy Liberman stated the fact that as a 17 year old picked for Team USA, I was unaware of that fact. Wow and given how the last 2 guards on Team USA played so little and produced little too.
All women need to be professional on the WNBA at all times....I'm happy because I know other Players now. I'm enjoying the WNBA and taking the time to watch CC and other Competitors and I like Them Too!
with all these people on tv are saying Caitlan is so bad why do they spend so much time talking about her. shouldn't they be talking about the players they think are better.
My takeaways on CC's arrival: 1. She's brought attention the the WNBA 2. She's introduced me to the greats past and present. She's not even my favorite player 32 games into the season. Kat Copper is and I'm a Chicagoan!
Stephen A, loveee this approach > the shouting you do in NBA I think your usual approach works for NBA due to the nature and dynamics of it But I think this approach would work better for WNBA and where fans want the league to move towards Away from the jealousy, away from the lack of class and complaints, more towards class and maturity and growth!! Looking forward to more of such interviews and coverage!!
Guys stop stop stop ..you take Aja out of the Ace's and they can win take Breanna of the Liberty they can win TAKE CATLIN OF THE FEVER AND THEY HAVE NO CHANCE..So remember most Valuable were talking about not most points. Most rebound Most valuable!!!! And Catlin is MOST VALUABLE TO HER TEAM ..PERIOD!!
That’s what I’ve been saying we just saw the Aces with Aja AND WITHOUT THEIR POINT GUARD they were a mediocre team now with that point guard back they are unbeatable so one could say the point guard might be more valuable Chelsey Gray I mean the Aces still had good players and still didn’t dominate without Chelsey Gray
I was at ODU while Nancy played there. Not a lot of student housing. Two dorms, Rogers and Gresham ( Roger’s 2nd floor ruled!), then Holiday Inn Scope, because they hadn’t yet finished the new Powhatan section down by the water. I worked part time with the bounty rainbow sports helping teach gymnastics and I lifeguarded at the pool with Sue Richardson at lunch, which meant we checked ids and watched lap swimming. Nancy was a LEGEND when she walked into the dining room. EVERYBODY knew her. Her teammates were in awe, the students, the community, the professors. She handled it all really well. Do you know how rare iIt was to SEE an Olympian in PERSON? The men had just won the division 2 championship, so there was basketball energy. No football at the school, so we lived and died basketball. And Nancy took us all the way to the championships and beat UCLA and put our school on the MAP! My son graduated from ODU , and I certainly mentioned the basketball team on more than a couple of occasions. It’s amazing how sports really does play such an important part in our lives. Either as a participant or a spectator, it defines and inspires. Nancy was the ORIGINAL GOAT, and her Jersey was hanging in the new arena they built when I took him for his orientation.
Really hope the ESPN ladies are listening to Lieberman and taking notes on how to do their job. How to give credit where credit is due. How to tell the truth.
No, she's not being appreciated enough... There is a concerted effort by the league and the media to minimize her skill and impact to uplift other players. It's really sad to see so many black women doing this. Especially when we as black women have a long documented history of people doing this to us --its called discrimination. Give Clark her flowers and stop being jealous haters. Jealousy is such an ugly and weak emotion. The only reason why she isn't being completed stomped out is because her fan base is loud and strong and we will not allow people to keep undermining her impact and success.
I would say (some) league players and coaches, The League is putting every grame of the Fever on NBA TV or Ion, they are like the Bulls when they were on WGN every night durring Jordan's Prime!
Caitlin Clark as a rookie is fundamentally better than any other players in the league. That explains why the WNBA has been pitiful. But if she leaves the league will go back to a couple hundred fans a game. Caitlin will bring girls in with complete games and not thugs.
@stephenasmith if these so called experts can’t admit it, how can we accept them as professionals that know the game . They were wrong about her game and she didn’t never say a thing. ESPN analyst need to right there wrong.
The Referees need a Call to Jesus... Quit Teching players for disputing Non Calls as unreviewable... 😮 The refs aren't infallible... All Techs need review by League Officials 😮
Lieber shows just why it won't get better, fines and benching is needed and she is rubbing baby oil on the problems.. useless women, useless time spent.
Caitlin was the only reason that I was becoming a fan of the WNBA. With Caitlin leaving, and I admit for very good reasons, I will probably not watch another WNBA game. Watching the WNBA games was like watching a bunch of misfit girls play basketball like a girl. Watching Caitlin was like watching a professional athlete play a game of basketball on a level way above the misfits.
It’s refreshing to see a woman not hate on CC. I had no idea how catty and jealous women can be. I thought that stuff on real housewives and keeping up with the Kardashians was fake. But women really get jealous easily
Yes, we absolutely can be catty, jealous, and envious. Thankfully, not all of us are like that. It is something I have observed since I was a young girl, which really bothered me.
This year when the Aces had AJA but not their point guard they were a mediocre team now once they got their point guard back lord they have been unbeatable so that’s something to think about
You're backing down the truth is Caitlin Clark was better than most of the girls on the Olympic team and that is just the truth she has the leading assist record in the WNBA right now she has one of the highest shooting percentage records in the WNBA right now and she is doing pretty good on defense she needs to work on her defense more but to say she is not better than one player on the Olympic team is just stupid when she is better than more than half of them right now
Thank you Stephen A for bringing light to women’s basketball yes, it is very very wrong for the women that came before Clark to be jealous and have an attitude they should be supporting her because she’s lifting up the women’s basketball game and every freaking area Ride this train like to man dude like Jordan Magic Johnson, Kobe Bryant ride this train women get your feelings out of this game and get on this train of success let this player Clark do her thing and ride this train with the women’s basketball team sometime in life God send certain people to do certain things we are all children of the most high God no one is better than each other. We are all blessed by God. God has always given every man a measure of faith, so if Clark got faith in her ability that is what God has given her so all these other women need to stop, whining and complaining and stop trying to hurt her on the basketball court unacceptable certain people come alone once in a lifetime to transcend the game to different levels in life get on this train, stop whining, and complaining and start thanking God for the money that’s gonna be made in this journey now women can be able to get what they always want it that man has always had finances to be able to take care of your family and support your children Look at all the thousands of children watching you play basketball they dreaming of one day they can be just like you. Hallelujah.
Caitlin needed to stay exactly where she was. Resting for the second half. Olympics would have done her no good. That rest has her shooting percentage up, turnovers are down. She carried a college team all year and turned around and started for a bad Fever team. Look at them now.
The Dallas player showed respect and admiration for Caitlyn Clark, SAS missed that one. The Dallas player was not critiquing their fans, it was all in fun. Way to go to number zero.
I disagree with the hard fouls are behind us . Game 1 of playoffs ... that was a defining foul that almost ended Caitlin's ability to see ! It was laughed at !
If i have a pick i take Catlin cause if your watching this year look how good how Catlin makes everyone better around her just by assist and pace !! Don't think Aja could do that so what ever player i take after Catlin she will make them winners...look what happening now!!!!
Nancy L talking about how her own experience being chosen as the youngest player on the Olympics team for the future of the game > veterans who will not be getting much minutes is what NEEDS TO BE SAID We do not need to build on a legacy of a player of the past who will no longer contribute in games nor results That is strictly an individual record for no purpose to the larger picture of the sport Olympic team should have sent CC for the future of the game, giving her the experience to lead in future Olympics, for economical purposes, for spreading the WNBA worldwide further (imagine all the foreign TV broadcasting rights they could have sold if CC went off in the Olympics and drawn an even larger audience!!) Thankfully CC made full use of the Olympic break to get the rest she needed and training she needed with her team to grow their chemistry, but what a loss for WNBA and the sport as a whole
I can’t respect this woman when she says Caitlin’s not a phenomenal talent. Lady she’s prob top 3 in the league…….Clearly. Smashed every college record and will do the same in wnba if racism doesn’t rid her of the league. Racism against Caitlin from the black players is such a light that needs to be shined on. It’s reality.
Finally an honest, intelligent conversation between mature adults.
Nancy is such a class act. So knowledgeable and professional. She would make a great Commissioner. Love her for telling it as it is
Why didn’t mention how she avoided the confrontation about Reese. Finally a mature conversation in the media
Nancy Leiberman slayed this interview
She was out of line for telling a secret conversation
Yeah, she did!
This was such a great interview Mr Smith! I had no idea who Nancy Lieberman was until the wings vs fever game. She won me over with her honesty and poise in which she conveys her thoughts.

Thanks SAS this was an awesome interview 🙌

Wait… the WNBA has adults working for them ?
The lady is the first one I’ve seen
Great show my friend and l9ve that shirt.
Great stuff. Need more of this
The pressure this whole mess must be putting on CC. She has done nothing but play ball, she remains humble and focused.
humble!!
She's dealing with it amazingly! Feel like her faith probably plays a large part in that.
I think it's the other way around
Caitlin is a class act! Must be tough being amongst all that lower class crap!
The WNBA legend the game needs. So well spoken.
She gets it. This is the sort of person that can help grow the female game.

Yes, we absolutely can be catty, jealous, and envious. Thankfully, not all of us are like that. It is something I have observed since I was a young girl, which really bothered me.
@@CandyChannel1966 thank you for being candid. It’s a breath of fresh air when people are honest
This year when the Aces had AJA but not their point guard they were a mediocre team now once they got their point guard back lord they have been unbeatable so that’s something to think about
Agree with most everything. But rebounding your own missed shot should not count as a rebound
Hallelujah.
If the wnba gains some sense they can make some cents
You ain't lying!
They won't. They don't care. It's a poorly run league. They're going to get fianced by the NBA anyways.
That's all I'm saying😮🦊🦊🐺💙💙💙💕💜💛💛💛
I disagree with the hard fouls are behind us .
Game 1 of playoffs ...
that was a defining foul that almost ended Caitlin's ability to see !
It was laughed at !
If i have a pick i take Catlin cause if your watching this year look how good how Catlin makes everyone better around her just by assist and pace !! Don't think Aja could do that so what ever player i take after Catlin she will make them winners...look what happening now!!!!
Nancy L talking about how her own experience being chosen as the youngest player on the Olympics team for the future of the game > veterans who will not be getting much minutes is what NEEDS TO BE SAID
We do not need to build on a legacy of a player of the past who will no longer contribute in games nor results
That is strictly an individual record for no purpose to the larger picture of the sport
Olympic team should have sent CC for the future of the game, giving her the experience to lead in future Olympics, for economical purposes, for spreading the WNBA worldwide further (imagine all the foreign TV broadcasting rights they could have sold if CC went off in the Olympics and drawn an even larger audience!!)
Thankfully CC made full use of the Olympic break to get the rest she needed and training she needed with her team to grow their chemistry, but what a loss for WNBA and the sport as a whole
Stephen A has been dropping a career high lately on Caitlin Clark❤🔥❤🔥❤🔥
Nancy tell us how you handled that Bulgarin guard in 1976 Olympics
I can’t respect this woman when she says Caitlin’s not a phenomenal talent. Lady she’s prob top 3 in the league…….Clearly. Smashed every college record and will do the same in wnba if racism doesn’t rid her of the league. Racism against Caitlin from the black players is such a light that needs to be shined on. It’s reality.
