Kurt, what I did on my boat was mount the bases of Scotty Rod Holders along the inside rail. 3/4" pvc fits inside the holders. Then I arced it over and put it in the one on the other side. When finished it looks like a covered wagon. Great news is, that when you take the cover off, you only have 4 or 5 poles to store and you can put the rod holders in the bases and be all ready for fishing too! Great video! Look forward to the next!
Great idea, Kurt! A neighbor here on the Atlantic coast of Florida used a similar system (only larger) to create cover for his 29ft fishing boat. It has survived 4 hurricanes that I know of.
Game changer ! I used inch and a quarter for the main spine , but I have tons of leftovers from HVAC jobs . I glued some joints but left others so it came out in sections , lasted 6 years so far . But hey it never rains in Cali !!!!!
I made mine out of 2" PVC. It was beautiful--my wife and I spent a whole day cutting and gluing and it was amazing. Then, even before the first rain, we had a few hot days. All of the pipes and fittings completely melted under the cover. And it all fell apart. And I cried.
What part of the country do live in? Had same experience in westernCO where we get upper 90s and lower 100s. Thought about metal conduit but worried about potential rust staining
New subscriber here; What year and model is the boat. I see it`s a Bayliner caprl but I`ve never seen that exact model before, I really like it. Larry in seattle area
We have problems with pvc melt/warp/distortion due to high elevation desert. Thought about using galvanized conduit but worried about rust staining anyone else doing anything like that?
Getting some exercise walking back and forth 😊. Getting there Kurt!! It works nice. I'm enjoying this. GOD BLESS YOU AND YOUR FAMILY.
Thanks! It's been great so far. This video was filmed in the spring

Thats awesome! If this ever fails I'll just use larger pvc
Gotta love some PVC! You can make pvc bench and captain chairs out of it!

HELL YEAH BROTHER looks good to me now time to go dirt fishing 😆 🤣
Maybe some pieces of pool noodle on the upper corners to help protect the cover, too? Woohoo!
Gotta love some PVC! Tinker Toys for adults.
Haha! Exactly
I have done the same thing with a couple of boats I have had in the past...works great
Perfect and inexpensive solution. Well done. Check that off the list.
Thanks!
Great idea! Gonna do that for sure!
Good luck
My husband did the same thing for our pontoon. 😀
Nice!
I have the same boat and want to do this. What size cover is that? TY for the idea!
I usually buy a bigger cover. The boat is 19' but I buy a cover for a 21'
Party Boat High and Dry. 🥳
Finally. Wish I did this 10 years ago

Thank you for the support! It's a year 2000 bayliner capri 1952
Kurt don't you have to winterize your boat motor for the Winter?
Yes when I'm done for the season
👍🏻
Patient pending lol
Haha
If you have issues, think peak.
Thanks. Been 6 months. So far so good

You need an adult beverage after all that work. Cheers!
Be sure to remove it in summer heat, it will melt and fail
