I have loved Shooting Star since I was 15, found them in 1980. Terribly underrated band who should have been far more famous and popular than they were. Gary West and Van McLain wrote some incredible songs. Love seeing them live here, at their best, putting on a really great show. I was heartbroken when Gary decided to stop his musical career, I loved his voice and the way he performed on stage. Such a talented guy. I hope more people see this and can appreciate them.
This takes me back. I went to High School in Liberty MO. for a couple of years and saw them many times. They used to play the Lone Star and the Levee in Westport in the late 70's. I know we drove out to Lawrence Ks. to see them cause I got stranded there! . Can't remember if I saw them at William Jewel but I might have. Smoked a lot of weed in those years. Maybe we were at the same show. Do you remember KY 102? They used to put on summer Jams at the liberty Memorial and Shooting Star played that every year. All those great DJ's. Max Floyd, Randy Raley, Larry Moffett.
Thanks for posting this. Incredible band. They should have been as famous ( if not more so ) than their contemporary great bands such as Kansas. Shooting Star deserved much more recognition.
Thanks for the video! Shooting Star amongnthe most underrated bands, and Last Chance and others of theirs, so underrated. Just adding my voice to the chorus.
So, so good! I saw them on this tour at Stout University Field House in Wisconsin. Then again at the Carleton Ballroom in the Twin Cities a few years later. Stellar.
Thanks for the music, and this video. You guys are awesome. I wish I could see you guys live up here in MN. But this is the next best thing to being there 42 years ago. I absolutely loved Shooting Star back in the day every bit as much as VH, Journey, Foreigner, Styx, Pink Floyd, Billy Squier, Tom Petty, Def Leppard, ZZ Top etc. etc.
I saw them live once, before they signed with Virgin. They opened for Frank Marino & Mahogany Rush at Memorial Hall in KCKS. They played one song, "Hollywood," that they wouldn't put on an album until years later when they were on Epic/Columbia!
Yeah , that hit me hard in the heart. The memories that is. This Music got me through. Thanks Guys.

Appreciate your voice!
Bisco! Totemo atatakai kon'nichiwa!
Deeply appreciate your comments and agree with you about the genius of Gary West. May all be well with you. Peace.

Van McLain IS the most underrated guitarist of all time. He was an epic player in every way….A true rock and Roll Guitarist 🙌🏻🙏🏼👊🏻😎

That 10:00 minute mark man. I'm with Van. Love all of their music especially early stuff, Flesh and Blood, is Top 3
Very few songs compare to Last Chance
