    Just found your channel this morning and now I’m ripping through your video library!
    I’m originally from Rhode Island (US) but I live in Saint-Barthélémy with my husband (who is from Nemours (South of Paris).
    He has actually has lived in Toronto and Dublin, so it’s great to laugh and explore the cultural nuances and absurdities of living abroad and being married to someone from another country as well as a lot of the other thoughtful conversations with your guests.
    We both got a good laugh out of The Express Yourself segment- that’s what hooked us!
    Excited to sign up for more of your content on Patreon, cheers! (and congrats to Nathaniel! The woes of residency are familiar my friend!) 🥂🍻

    Your point at around the hour mark sort of stands: A musician can get _technical_ ability on their instrument through practice without audience. But just like a comedian, they don't know whether a song 'works' if they haven't tested it on an audience. And I've seen enough music gigs to know that an audience can make or break a performance :s

    The latin phrase is "errare humanum est" wich means "it's human to make mistakes" (you indeed pronounced it horribly🤣)

    • @dupirechristophe7703
      @dupirechristophe7703 3 года назад

      "To err is human" "err" which acts as the root of "ERRor".
      But to arr is pirate though...

    • @Aurorya
      @Aurorya 3 года назад +1

      @@dupirechristophe7703 yeah, idk the etymology of "mistake" but in french it's "erreur", so it's easier to remember the phrase in french 😅

    • @dupirechristophe7703
      @dupirechristophe7703 3 года назад +1

      @@Aurorya Boo... remember "Syntax Error" ? :)
      (both that error prompt on ye old computers AND that hilarious "Objectif Nul" character? )
      "Err", "error" and "mistake" are all used in English, it's just a matter of context and such.
      I wasn't saying you were wrong in the absolute, for in term of meaning you were spot on,
      I was just saying that the actual idiom English speakers use is "to err is human".
      And to my limited knowledge, it might be one of the only time "err" used like that in English
      (correct me if I'm wrong people, I might be...) with "to err on the side of caution"
      which they mention in the video.
      But as Nathan also says in the video, it might be "err= errer" and not "err= erreur".
      But like the meme says, it might be both x'D
      Which would make sense to me :)
      Serendipity was coined from the book "The three princes of Serendip" from an Old Persian fairy tale.
      Not all who wanders are lost... sometimes procrastination is simply "research"... you end up finding stuff you wouldn't have find at all if you didn't get out of your own head/cycle/routine...
      The eureka moment and all that...
      great discoveries happened.... great things were born out of "mistakes"
      that's the beauty of life, you never know what' inside the Shrödinger's box,
      it's why it's called the "present" I guess x'D

    I feel that I HAVE to do one of these with you one day, Paul, because I'm French, speak English with an actual (really) English accent (bit less southern than yours though), and have lived in Québec for 9 years. So every time you guys are trying to translate/correct/find new meanings for whatever language you're shifting into, my tripolar brain hopelessly tries to unload its shit, and I find myself just bellowing at my screen like a complete twat, not getting you guys anywhere. Please send help. Also, I love funny water.
