A smart tip: invest in a good pair of wooden shoe shapers for expensive shoes; I have velvet ones for loafers. They help stop the creasing of the leather where the foot bends naturally whilst walking. Additionally, it helps them retain their shape and look better for much longer.

Wise words Lydia. Can’t disagree with any of the examples you have given. The only thing that is concerning me more of late is the working conditions etc of some of the people who create our beautiful clothes. I have heard some fashion production likened to modern day slavery. I know spending more won’t necessarily guarantee a decent wages but if items are really cheap then there will be less slack to pay the people who create the pieces. Is this something that you consider?

Actually agree a lot of what you said here, stopped buying from a lot of fast fashions these days after the report on use of Uyghur slave labour came out, Uniqlo for instance. My purchases in the recent three months has been exclusively vintage, so it’s actually a step towards my goal of buying better but less.

Agree with everything you mentioned. My previous mistakes involved expensive jeans which I did not wear more than the cheap ones because the cuts did not flatter me. For belts I shop the men section in thrift shops as they are usually of good quality and wider (which I like) I invested in a tool that makes different size of holes and use it a lot even for bags straps....
I love that this video is 3 years old and many of your tips are still relevant! I would add good quality cashmere / wool jumpers and coats to the list of investment pieces.

Love the Gucci belt :) definitely treating myself to one had my eye on getting one for a while. Its my treat to myself as I have released weight I started at 222 pounds I am currrently 172 pounds the goal is 154 pounds not long to go i have come so far so waiting to my waist to decrease then I will be at Gucci :) by the end of this year!!

I agree on everything, however , on cheap t-s I bought a black t-shirt back in 1997 from Ralph Lauren and back then cost me over 200$ and IS my black t-shirt, it has not changed shape or noticeably faded colour, that is the perfect t-shirt, I try to spend a bit more on t-shirts, I found a fantastic one by helmut Lang, however I agree that most of them are terrible quality, but a good one lasts and lasts...I think is worth it
Completely agree on these. I'd add a beautiful, versatile jacket/coat to the spend side.

So glad for the twist on evening wear.... tuxedo or cigarette pants and silk blouse (with fabulous shoes, earrings and clutch), rather than the expected sequins etc.! I would love for you to do a discussion on lizard, zebra, leopard, snow leopard, crocodile, ostrich, etc. Such great patterns/textures in accessories - and all so classic and timeless whether designer or mock.

100% with the white tee and the evening cloth, i’m guilty for the evening cloth especially party dress, mostly i only wear 1 x and they now take the most space in my cabinet 😓😓 thank you Lidya. very nice lesson 👍👍

Can u pls talk about how to care of leather sole shoes or leather shoes. I heard it has to be walked in to get grip then it needs to be sealed. Also cleaning suade. What to do if shoes give blisters or too big or small. How to store shoes and bags to keep their shape.

Yes, diamond studs! I also have a few pairs of earrings with pearls, and love it! And all mango/Zara jewelry doesn’t look expensive, it looks stylish, but not expensive and elegant. Agree with u 100%
