I bought this tent, retails on Amazon for 1,000 dollars, (08- 10- 2022) they gave me 150.00 off so I paid less than advertised. Set up on truck took me 2 days, don't be like me and set up tent without mount bars, which i installed after the fact. lol. Roomy 2-person tent, if you find 2 red straps on or under mattress, that reach to entrance they are to assist in getting in or out of the tent. Instructions are very vague. Thank you for the video this beast is 108lbs double boxed and on a sizable pallet. Get help when lifting to your bed rack, i did not and it was heavy.
Thanks for the review! Helped me decide to get this tent for my crosstrek! I really hate that they sprawled BODY ARMOR 4x4 across it though. A smaller logo would have sufficed and been a bit more classy lol
Ill be getting this tent for my wrx hatchback I don't mind the body Armour logo on the cover but the 4x4 I'll wanna somehow take off or paint it black so it's not seen...if I had a truck I wouldn't mind the 4x4 being there though

I’ve got one on top of my van, all you need are room crossbars. The crossbars run perpendicular to the vehicle and install to the factory roof rails (these run perpendicular to the vehicle). The dealership may- have some for sale you some but of course they will be marked up to dealer prices. Look on a website such as trailer.com and then type in your vehicles make model and year and you’ll find some namebrand options available. By all means, please do not buy anyone no name brand and cheap crossbars from Amazon, they will fail catastrophically and that is not something you want when carrying this 100 pound tent on your roof.
That will depend on whatever bed rack setup you have. The bed rack I had in this video was not compatible with a tonneau cover but the one in this video was: ruclips.net/video/HDH-2UCglKs/видео.html
Bought this tent. It's not bad at all for the cost. Although you find it a pain sipping the cover around the corners. I actually snapped my zipper. Does anyone know the zipper size for the cover?
It didn't look there was any kind of boot bag that came with it. Does it look possible to rig something up near the door for that purpose? Great video btw!
I'm new to the topper tents, I'm trying to look at the pros and cons of it. I like the concept and it looks like it's a great setup keep you away from the cold ground and critters. What other advantages do you have a being off the ground this way? The only issue I would have is it looks a little unsafe for children and the wife to scale the ladder in the middle of night.
I think the main appeal is, like you said, being off the ground away from animals, water, etc. I also like the ease of setup/storage. Basically just flip it back over, strap it down, and you're good to go. Honestly if you're okay with/used to ground camping I'm not sure if the price difference is justified. Totally up to your preference though!

Have you thought about the annex? I am debating between Body Armor with annex or tuff Stuff Trail Head with annex . How is it holding up? Also is your truck bed 5 or 6 feet I have a 2020 Ranger with 5 ft and dont want to go above my roof which means I also dont want to it to hang over the back of the tailgate either. Great Video I work about 2 min from UCF!
I have the annex! Just haven't used it yet. I'll be doing an overview/review video of it at some point, just haven't gotten around to it yet. I have the 5 foot bed. This tent is relatively small. It fits in the bed of my truck haha
I suppose it wouldn't be too hard to figure out a way to do that. Not sure if something similar already exists on that market bout would be interested to see how that'd work.

For sure! I don't see why not. The Prinsu can definitely hold the weight and the mounting hardware that comes with the tent should work. Might just be tricky to get a wrench in to tighten it down though.
Hey, not sure if you've answered this and I know it's been over a year but now having had it this long, how do you feel about it? Donut Media had an over landing build and one of their focuses was a topper like this. They said that material and sound was a huge detractor from cheaper tents and I was wondering if this suffered from that issue? Like does the material of the tent provide enough temperature mitigation and does it sound like a sheet flapping in the wind when it blows or like a drum when it rains?
Any soft tent like this will have a good amount of wind noise, especially a RTT since it's elevated. It's basically the same material as a normal ground tent, just with a hard floor. As for temperature, I'm not 100% sure because I'm in Florida but again it'd be similar to your typical ground tent. Hope that helps!
Maybe put a lanyard on the zipper pull with a ball or a knot so you can toss it across the truck, then you won't have to screw around trying to reach between the truck and the tent...

Thanks! I didn't carry the tent around on the truck very often, just when I was using it so can't really say. However the material is pretty standard across the industry so shouldn't have any problems & should last a couple years

I had the tent on and off for 6-8mos and didn’t notice any excessive wear. I no longer have the truck/tent but it was still in pristine condition over a year later when I sold it
Looking to convert my dirt bike trailer to an overlanding trailer and currently hunting for tents. The price point on this is really awesome! Is this a 4 season tent? How is it in the wind? I camp/ride in the SoCal deserts a lot and the evenings can be windy and cold in the winter months.
It's a 4 season tent if you're brave enough haha Kidding, but honestly the coldest temps I've used it in was around 45-50 degrees since I'm in Florida so I can't really speak to winter temps elsewhere. However, wind is fine it's just noisy since it isn't a hardshell tent.

I have it but I haven't felt the need to use it yet since I've only been doing solo trips. Though I'm planning on setting it up soon to do an overview video but just haven't gotten around to it yet lol

I recently purchased this tent for my car. I have to extend the letter all the way given the height of my vehicle but it makes it feel like a treehouse so I’m not complaining, yet. The main issue I have is bugs getting in the tent, even when everything is closed up. I think they are getting in through those side flaps, right where the tent pivots when it is being opened or closed. Is there a solution to this? At the time of writing this comment, I am currently camped at a state park inside of this exact tent. The price was great, the installation wasn’t terrible and the comfort is amazing considering that there are options that cost three times as much and they do just about the same thing. As a quick but somewhat ineffective remedy I have stuffed my sleeping bag and pillow carry your bags into that pivot area to prevent bugs from coming in but they still seem to get in, somehow. it is just a little tiny bugs that are getting in, not the big moths or mosquitoes.
@@KnightWheelsMedia I will check those vents next time I go camping. This issue is more exacerbated when it is dark outside and I have my LED lantern turned on inside the tent.

Not 100% sure but honestly I'd say its safe to assume that it's around 2in or so smaller than the exteriors dimensions once opened haha

It's comfortable enough. No air mattress needed, however it wouldn't be a bad idea to get a 1-2" memory foam mattress topper to throw on it.

Are you referring to the ones with hooks on the end? I believe they're meant to help the tent close in on itself when you fold it over if so.

It should fit most bed racks. You just might need to use different mounting hardware.

Yeah I have a comforter and a couple pillows in there. Just makes it slightly bigger when folding up.

If the SUV rack is rated for the weight, yes. But most OEM roof racks won't be able to hold it.

I know it would be a little higher…BUT…would this work on a 4Runner?
I think so as long as you have an aftermarket roof rack. I don't believe Toyota's stock roof rack setups are able to support the weight properly.

There are locking/special style security nuts that you need a key for. Think of it as those wheel lock lug nuts but for smaller bolts.

The bars came with the BodyArmor4x4 bed rack and I used Quickfists to attach the shovel to the rack 👍🏼

The bed rack is only 6 bolts I think. The shovel is held on by rubber clamps for easy access.

Wind is about the same as the average ground tent. It did fine in rain, no issues.

can't speak to snow but it was pretty windy one night in it & it was fine.

It should fit on most racks. However the main thing is seeing if the rack you have can hold the weight.

That's interesting, I haven't had that issue. It could potentially be the vent flap(s) towards the top of the tent.
@@KnightWheelsMedia I will check those vents next time I go camping. This issue is more exacerbated when it is dark outside and I have my LED lantern turned on inside the tent.
I wish they make it clear that this tent will fit on many medium and large SUV with a rack. They make it sound that is only on trucks .
Definitely fits on other vehicles! Just need to make sure whatever rack you have can support the weight
