    I bought this tent, retails on Amazon for 1,000 dollars, (08- 10- 2022) they gave me 150.00 off so I paid less than advertised. Set up on truck took me 2 days, don't be like me and set up tent without mount bars, which i installed after the fact. lol. Roomy 2-person tent, if you find 2 red straps on or under mattress, that reach to entrance they are to assist in getting in or out of the tent. Instructions are very vague. Thank you for the video this beast is 108lbs double boxed and on a sizable pallet. Get help when lifting to your bed rack, i did not and it was heavy.

      I’ve got one on top of my van, all you need are room crossbars. The crossbars run perpendicular to the vehicle and install to the factory roof rails (these run perpendicular to the vehicle). The dealership may- have some for sale you some but of course they will be marked up to dealer prices. Look on a website such as trailer.com and then type in your vehicles make model and year and you’ll find some namebrand options available. By all means, please do not buy anyone no name brand and cheap crossbars from Amazon, they will fail catastrophically and that is not something you want when carrying this 100 pound tent on your roof.

    @jeffhalterman4833 3 года назад +1

    I'm new to the topper tents, I'm trying to look at the pros and cons of it. I like the concept and it looks like it's a great setup keep you away from the cold ground and critters. What other advantages do you have a being off the ground this way? The only issue I would have is it looks a little unsafe for children and the wife to scale the ladder in the middle of night.

    • @KnightWheelsMedia
      @KnightWheelsMedia  3 года назад +1

      I think the main appeal is, like you said, being off the ground away from animals, water, etc.
      I also like the ease of setup/storage. Basically just flip it back over, strap it down, and you're good to go.
      Honestly if you're okay with/used to ground camping I'm not sure if the price difference is justified. Totally up to your preference though!

    Hey, not sure if you've answered this and I know it's been over a year but now having had it this long, how do you feel about it? Donut Media had an over landing build and one of their focuses was a topper like this. They said that material and sound was a huge detractor from cheaper tents and I was wondering if this suffered from that issue? Like does the material of the tent provide enough temperature mitigation and does it sound like a sheet flapping in the wind when it blows or like a drum when it rains?

    • @KnightWheelsMedia
      @KnightWheelsMedia  2 года назад

      Any soft tent like this will have a good amount of wind noise, especially a RTT since it's elevated. It's basically the same material as a normal ground tent, just with a hard floor. As for temperature, I'm not 100% sure because I'm in Florida but again it'd be similar to your typical ground tent. Hope that helps!

    Hey, that tent looks nice! I'm a bit worried about those transparent parts in the roof yellowing over time. Have you noticed any of that?

      No but I haven't used it enough for that to be an issue yet honestly.

    Have you tried the annex for this tent? If so what do you think?

      I have it but I haven't felt the need to use it yet since I've only been doing solo trips. Though I'm planning on setting it up soon to do an overview video but just haven't gotten around to it yet lol

      @@KnightWheelsMedia cool man, would love to see what you think, we installed ours today and like it, but thought the annex was a tad tricky, planning some trips out west with it

      @@KnightWheelsMedia kind of hard to explain, we were hoping to leave the annex on all the time and fold it up with it, but doesn’t seem possible, and it seems like it would be annoying to slide thru the holes every time to put it on, if that makes sense

      @@mattdawgg100 ah yeah gotcha. Doesn't seem possible because of the ladder not being able to fold down or it just doesn't fit in the travel cover?

    I recently purchased this tent for my car. I have to extend the letter all the way given the height of my vehicle but it makes it feel like a treehouse so I’m not complaining, yet.
    The main issue I have is bugs getting in the tent, even when everything is closed up. I think they are getting in through those side flaps, right where the tent pivots when it is being opened or closed. Is there a solution to this?
    At the time of writing this comment, I am currently camped at a state park inside of this exact tent. The price was great, the installation wasn’t terrible and the comfort is amazing considering that there are options that cost three times as much and they do just about the same thing. As a quick but somewhat ineffective remedy I have stuffed my sleeping bag and pillow carry your bags into that pivot area to prevent bugs from coming in but they still seem to get in, somehow. it is just a little tiny bugs that are getting in, not the big moths or mosquitoes.

      That's interesting, I haven't had that issue. It could potentially be the vent flap(s) towards the top of the tent.

    • @QuadroNVS
      @QuadroNVS 3 года назад

      @@KnightWheelsMedia I will check those vents next time I go camping. This issue is more exacerbated when it is dark outside and I have my LED lantern turned on inside the tent.

    I wish they make it clear that this tent will fit on many medium and large SUV with a rack. They make it sound that is only on trucks .

      Definitely fits on other vehicles! Just need to make sure whatever rack you have can support the weight
