I always love your reactions. Jinjer is one of those bands that are even better live than studio. They are the ones that got me back into metal after years of not listening to newer music. Extremely talented band that are IMHO the future of metal!!

  •  3 года назад +46

You chose the right version of this song. This live performance is better than the studio recording of this same song imho... If you want to see some very technical songs by them I recommend you the check the official video of Teacher, Teacher, where they switch from hip-hop to pop, then to metal core with impressive blast beats... This band is normally known by their singer because of what she does... but then you start looking at the band members and they are all amazing at their instruments... and their compositions are very progressive and original, mixing all kind of styles and rythms...

Oh wow, can't believe y'all are doing this one!!! Jinjer has become my #2 all time favorite behind Rush. I never liked growly vocals, in fact the first time I saw the Pisces video, as soon as she went into the growls, I laughed out loud in surprise, then turned it off. But then I recalled that there was something special about the musicians, so I went back a day or two later and watched all of the video, then I checked out some of their other stuff. Then I was hooked and bought all of their albums! Some say "People come for the vocalist, and stay for the band" or something to that effect. Their compositions are so unpredictable and well thought-out, and they play so tight. And they're very humble, hard-working and nice people. Thank you so much for making my day!! It's totally fine if you just want to do only audio reactions to other Jinjer songs. Pit of Consciousness is my suggestion, surely you'll have many others. I'm curious if JInjer will be able to hook y'all!

You got to check out Spiritbox, Rob, if you liked Jinjer. I was listening to Jinjer for about half a year before I heard them, and at first I thought cool, but musically not my thing, but then it grew on me. I would start with Mara Effect live session.

    • @robertwillingham1965

@@jonkwape3097 I must admit, my excitement about Jinjer kept me from listening to much else for quite a while. I've given Spiritbox a couple of listens, so it may have to grow on me too. I joke that Jinjer has ruined most other music for me! The thing that really has made other bands difficult to enjoy is the fact I can't always hear each instrument clearly. Jinjer is mixed so damn well!

We tend to call it progressive metal or groove metal. They guys are a very tight unit. They almost never do any kind of solos because their focus is on how their instruments work together. A few of their older songs have something solo-like but newer stuff not at all. If you don't want to see the videos, the instrumental groove and dueling guitar and bass in "Who Is Gonna Be The One (live from Atlas)" is epic and the same recording as in the Who Is Gonna Be The One official live video. The vocals focus more on growls but have some cleans including a segue into a totally different vocal style and also that song has one of their closest things to a guitar solo - the original studio version is very different because they used to have a second guitar player but then re-composed the song after he left to do acting, and the new version is much more refined and better in every way.

Some people complain about which order you hear songs or versions... I'm just glad you found Jinjer!
I just found your channel, saw you had more than one Jinjer reaction, subbed, liked and then watched them! To me, no matter what your reaction is to them, the fact that you're willing to react to them helps more new people find them and if you end up liking them, since of course not everyone will, that's just icing on the cake! Thank you always for bringing more of what I consider the fantastic genre twisting music of Jinjer to more people!
TLDR: skip to the last paragraph 😂
Sorry for the long comment, I just love Jinjer too much and love seeing people discover (and usually fall in love with) them and each of their songs!
For most of their songs, the three guys write most of the instrument music, then Tatiana writes most of the lyrics and melodies. Roman the guitarist has written a lot of the instrument music in the past, but Vlad the drummer (who also plays guitar and classical piano, but so far not in most Jinjer songs (I think he played piano in lainnereP)) has been writing more of it and wrote nine of the eleven songs for the album about to drop on August 27th (album: Wallflowers, first video was released in June for the song Vortex, second song Mediator was released today, July 28th). Eugene composes some - he wrote the instrument music for one song on the upcoming album, and I know that apart from his amazing work on the bass, he adds riffs and has written lyrics for a few Jinjer songs.
The band (all members have been Ukrainian, with Russian their first language) started in eastern Ukraine in 2009 as a group of five with none of the current members (they consider the official start of the band as 2010 when Tatiana replaced the male vocalist and Roman joined as lead guitar), Vlad is the fifth drummer (joined in 2016) and it's been a group of four since 2015 (though they consider their road sound engineer Sasha to be a fifth member). I think they're still friends with all the former members.
One of the things I love most about Jinjer is the messages in Tatiana's lyrics and the way she combines growling and beautiful singing with Jinjer's fantastic instrumentals to be so powerful for expressing the anger and pain in those messages: the anti-war message in Home Back, the anti-greed in On The Top and No Hoard Of Value (also the horror of the coal mining industry in their home Ukraine), the protest song Who Is Gonna Be The One, the anti-fascism of Sit Stay Roll Over, the anger at people being narrow minded in Teacher Teacher and Judgment & Punishment, the struggles with mental health in Pit Of Consciousness and Perennial, the giving voice to mother nature angry at humanity for letting capitalism destroy her in a bunch of songs like Ape, The Prophecy, Cloud Factory, Noah, Outlander and Bad Water. Other favorites are I Speak Astronomy, Retrospection, Words of Wisdom, Just Another, Captain Clock, Scissors, Exposed As A Liar, I Want It I'll Get It, A Plus Or A Minus, Dip A Sail, When Two Empires Collide, Beggar's Dance and lainnereP (those last two are short album bookends that might do well together in one reaction).
I haven't found a Jinjer song I don't love, so I think you can't go wrong if you choose any of them, but a few good choices might be Teacher Teacher (official and/or live in Melbourne), Judgement & Punishment (official and/or Tatiana's one take performance), Pit of Consciousness (official and/or live in Kiev/Kyiv) or the heartwrenching plea against war in Home Back (official video). Enjoy! ❤🤘

in addition, Roman now endorses a set of pickups made by MSP Guitars in Argentina. I have been in contact with them for a project I am working on. MSP is open to making custom-wound/designed, in case you have an odd string spacing or string count (like an 8 string fan-fret) VERY clean/load pickups... Roman used them on the Vortex video in one of his OD guitars.

I'm sure they will rock many more Festivals in the future, if you look at announcement Posters, they have gone from down in the nowhere up to 3rd or 2nd row … at a small Festival in Cologne in September they Headline, I will be there

the guitar Roman plays is by a company called OD guitars it is a 6string but drop tuned, the fanned frets/multiscale is mainly to keep tension and intonation consistent with lower tunings, the frets "fan" out from the middle of the neck so the high E string has a normal scale length (25&1/2inch) to the low E string has a longer(27inch)scale. I believe he uses tuning down to A but honestly even with standard tuning the fanned frets also add a lot of ergonomic comfort on the guitars I've played.

This is what makes them a great live band. And you can see it most of their lives stuff is good quality sound some are better than others but it's jinjer and their songs are all good. Jinjer is usually described as a progressive metal core band, but even that is not a perfect definition. The band pulls from many different genres, ranging from jazz, to reggae, to hip hop, thrash metal, and Death metal. The singer Tatiana has stated that Gwen Stefani, and Amy Winehouse, are both influences to her clean vocals. In one interview Jinjer described their music as salad metal, due to its many different ingredients.

    • @rudolfbecker4313
      @rudolfbecker4313 3 года назад

I like salad metal, I've seen many interviews, but must have missed this one. I think that makes them unique, that they mix so many styles, I especially like the Reggae parts and the open mouths of reactors to this and of course the first experience with Pisces live session …. I think there are almost 1000 only to this 1 Video and I have seen probably more of 70 % of them … it's a complete new genre … watching stupid faces, Hearing stupid comments :-)

I watched a reactor that stated it very well about Tati.. She shows the frustration and anger and uses the darker vocals to project that side of a Female that is not readily accepted . Then she can sing like an angel when the section of her lyrics reflect that side.. I think this is what makes her special.. That and her lyrics are amazing

Tatianna is a vocal goddess and the musicianship of the band is second to none. Their performance of "Who is Gonna be the one" (Live, Napalm Records) is a masterclass on how to perform rock live. YOU MADE MY DAY !

Hearing music should be done in its full presentation -- namely live with studio quality audio and wearing headphones (if you don't have a kick-ass monitor system), and with the volume set at concert levels. I understand why you, Nick & Lex, may want to only hear the audio. But seeing the artist(s) perform their creation is receiving to more of your senses their true intention of the song, imxo. Anything else is a compromise.

Believe it or not Tatianas idol is Gwen Stefani! You should check out The Warnings new video called Evolve. It was shot on 16 Iphones and a drone in 2 hours.

A few years ago Jinjer were regarded as a metalcore band (check out "Outlander"), but since one of their guitarists left the band and they had a change of drummer, they are now generally categorised as progressive metal. Personally I think that they are difficult to put into any one genre as they are pretty unique.

I think I can't stand "this kind of" music, but I freaking love this band. I know you devote too much time already to your own channel; but I'd recommend, whenever you can carve out time, check out some of the vocal-coach videos "reactions" to Jinjer. Especially The Charismatic Voice (which is run by a real-deal opera singer, and amazingly insightful musician) and The Fairy VoiceMother. All that "how is this possible?" wonder will be both answered but also... maintained, somehow.

Great reaction!!! My opinion you should react to only live videos if you wish to hear how the artist sounds with out help from Auto tune or other computer software.. Lots of artist cant really sing but. Sound great on the Studio.. For example britney spears, Red hot chilli pepper, Justin beaver etc and, many more...stay real and healthy..

Please react to Home Back (official video). It's about the war in Ukraine, their home country. It's dark, but very beautiful and artistic. The music and lyrics are absolutely great.

If you want another good live reaction, check out Band Maid "Onset"/"Play"/"Freedom" live. They are a Japanese all girl metal Band. They are super talented, especially the musicians. But a good way to intro the band, checkout "Domination " live.

Nice reaction you two. Yeah Jinjer is a phenomenal band. Tatiana gets the most attention because of her incredible vocals, but the guys, Eugene (bass), Roman (guitar), and Vlad (drums) are equally phenomenal at what they do. If you choose to react to more Jinjer, you won't be disappointed, some songs are really heavy, others are not, but each one is unique and fantastic, no two songs sound the same. Oh Nick in case you were interested, Roman is using a custom 6 string OD Venus guitar. Peace and as always, stay Metal you two. 😊🤘🤘🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶🎶

Today I came back to see this one again, as I love this song and this reaction. End then I saw you talking about how nice is to see the technique, and I realized there's a perfect video for this. It´s only the bassist, Eugene, playing in his house with only the drums track and he playing the whole song while facing the camera. It's priceless. ruclips.net/video/jjUVi-jLxdE/видео.html

Aside it is literally one type in google away to find where Wacken is, calling a Germany small a country that invaded whole Europe and parts of Asia is a little bit pretentious.
And just a note I am not German I am from really "small" country in Eastern Europe.
