Ghostwriter Prototype Final (Test Pilot) - February 3 , 1991

On February 3rd , 1991 , The Children's Television Workshop produced a pilot to present to PBS as a regular children's series . It was called " Ghostwriter Prototype Final " . This pilot featured a young Merlin Santana (R.I.P) , as Jamal Jenkins . When the show final became a series , Santana's role was re-casted and he was replaced with Sheldon Turnipseed . At the time of this pilot , none of the central characters existed . Blaze Berdahl was the only one who survived the pilot . It would later serve as the basis for the " Ghost Story " arc .
