The only way to avoid it is literally to freeze the plastic and that comes with its own set of damage, as it will begin to crack after a period of time.
@@vascotoys The yellowing definitely suggests it was stored in poor conditions. It shouldn’t look like that after only twenty years. Maybe at around double that. But nothing as bad as this Vegeta. He was not handled with care. 🤣
It could also simply be plasticiser leaching, which doesn't mean that it was guaranteed to have been kept in hot temperatures. Just that it was kept in storage for too long, which allows the plastic to start sweating, as well the plasticiser to (I believe so, at least) sort of come off in a sort of gaseous form, creating the sticky build-up that you can feel on the surface of plastic figures that are kept within their packages for too long. @@lovesgibson I totally identify with being obsessed with those figures. There was something so interesting about them, especially the characters we hadn't seen in the English dub yet. And I do get what you mean about the modern figures. They're expensive and fragile, so if they do happen to break, it's a double whammy of emotions.
@@vascotoys it was also a thing where friends would have some or have one that you didn’t have or a rare one, so it made like a collectible aspect to them. In some ways, because of the looks, they seemed low quality, but I guess the feel and durability, they felt high quality. Some of them have some weight to them, compared to other cheaper toys. I guess figures and toys of characters in general back then were never that accurate looking, so it felt cool just to have actual figures of this show on tv that everyone was obsessed with. This video sparked my memory of these large DBZ toys that I remember seeing in a toy store back in like 2002. After researching I found out that they were 15 inch figures also sold by Irwin. There was a super vegito one and a super saiyan Goku one. I was blown away seeing these massive figures, but pretty sure they were expensive and my parents wouldn’t spend that kind of money. I didn’t even know who the super vegito was because that was long before the Buu saga even came out in America. Doing even more research just now, it seems like these figures might be another case where they were originally made by a Japanese company and then resold through Irwin… very odd. Some of those toys back then just had a charm to them, even if they might’ve looked very wacky tbh
Good ole sticky elf ears Vegeta lol Definitely a big fan of the Namek)Freiza saga, i love the S.H version if Vegeta & the old school one is nostalgic for sure!

I had that old vegeta action figure 😊 i actually had my late uncle paint his hair yellow 😅 it didn't come out looking like i wanted, the yellow was more like a mustard color, and it started flaking off in spots
Vegeta with large shoulder pads will forever be my favorite though I doubt he'll ever wear it again. His armor right now also looks good but the Ressurrection F armor is the second best look he's ever had. My least favorite is Buu Saga. Am never a fan of characters wearing tank tops in general
dude awesome video and comparison, but man it did hurt seeing you open that sealed copy 😅, you can get them loose and still do the comparison, so there will be more sealed in the wild lol, also the aging and stickiness is prob cause they storage the fig in a hot storage no ac or sun exposure
I understand what you mean. I couldn't find any loose ones that had the saiyan armor and that's the only reason I went with a sealed one. It felt like comparing the two Vegetas without the clip on saiyan armor would have been incomplete.
ive been rewatching dragon ball z and man i love how complex of character vegeta is but those action figures are the best you should try to find the one with goku flexable muscles
Yes! He is so interesting especially in that saga. I know what figure you mean, but I purposefully passed on it. It's a weird 9" scale and I have heard very bad things about the durability of the stretchy material they used on those.
My favorite look for Vegeta was the Cell Saga look.Looking back at the show my favorite era of the art is between the end of Dragon Ball and when Trunks arrives. So now this is my favorite look for Vegeta. Your site isn't working for me. I was interested in seeing how much your backdrops are.

I do also have them available via ebay here: www.ebay.com/usr/vasco48_sc The large backdrops are $60 plus shipping and the detolf sized ones are $30 each plus shipping. I had SSJ Goku and Final form Frieza but I thought there was some mistake with the Frieza one because the first dub never actually showed anything beyond first form Frieza. SSJ Goku was in the intro and was also wondering why we never saw him or Trunks. To be fair the 90's ones were actually toys while today they are figurines. Toys are meant to be played with while figurines are meant to be displayed
I appreciate you watching! I would disagree about your last point. A lot of collectors do "play" with these figures in the form of action figure photography. Especially when you think about forms like A.C.B.A.
@@vascotoys No problem :) and by play I mean like actually kids level stuff where you could break them by having one figure punch another one too hard. I still think the stop motion and posing stuff doesn't actually count as "playing" with them.
@DallasToysReviews yes! When I was a kid I really thought those old figures were a lot better than they actually were. They look so strange without the hair!
No wonder the armor is non removable on the modern vegeta figures since the armor would come off very easily and therefore many people lost it, and without it he looks like he’s wearing kids jammies
I’ve seen the super battle collection figures when I was little, I kind of liked them, BUT I’ve heard that the Ultimate Figure series is similar to the Super Battle figures with the shirts being able to be taken off, but it has much more articulation. I always liked those more when I was little, I thought they looked cooler. I think it’s pretty cool series, I only have Base Gokou & Vegeta, and the Funi release of Vegetto with his name spelled “Vegito” which makes no sense. Unfortunately, that series only did mostly different versions of Gokou, Vegeta, Vegetto, and had Gogeta, Gohan, Piccolo Jr, and Final Form Freeza figures. They could’ve done so much more character, like this list I made, and made a pretty big list that I didn’t know I would make but I like it. I expanded this list cause why not? Son Gokou: 1 Chibi Gokou (first arc of DragonBall), shirt cannot come off like other figures, but only his Nyoibo with the strap. 2 Chibi Gokou (22nd Tenkaichi Budokai & King Piccolo Saga), same thing as the previous figure, just that he’s slightly older and has the orange turtle hermit gi. 3 Gokou (23rd Tenkaichi Budokai), similar design to the official figure, just with a slightly different gi with a Kanji on it, and the shirt can actually come off like the official figure also. 4 Boo Saga, Super Saiayjin Grade 5 (S.S.2), so just S.S.Grade.4 Gokou (Mastered S.S.1) with a slightly different hair mold 5 GrandTour Adult Base Gokou, as seen at the beginning of the GrandTour series. I want to add this. 6 GrandTour Chibi Base Gokou, who comes with his S.S.Grade.4 head, and a removable 7 Super Saiyajin 4 (red humanoid oozaru) Vegeta: 8 Super Saiayjin Grade 2 (buff form), aka Super Vegeta 9 Boo Saga, Super Saiayjin Grade 5, just a blue tank top with no sleeves like in the actual series. It might be hard to tell the difference between the Grade 5 hair and Grade 4’s, meh. 10 GrandTour Base Vegeta, design where he has a removable blue jacket on, with his S.S.Grade.4 head. To clarify, it’s the design he has most of the series, as seen when he fought Super 17. My favorite design of Vegeta. 11 Super Saiyajin 4 Gogeta: 12 Super Saiyajin 4 (Future) Trunks: 13 Original appearance, Base Form (Future) Trunks, with Super Saiyajin Grade 1 head (original form achieved on Namek), comes up with a removable sword, his jacket cannot be taken off. 14 (Room of Spirit & Time) Base (Future) Trunks, with S.S.Grade 1 head. 15 Super Saiyajin Grade 2 16 Super Saiyajin Grade 3 (super duper buff yet slow form) Gohan: 17 Base (Future) Gohan, with Super Saiayjin Grade 1 head 18 Super Saiayjin Grade 4 (Pre-Teen Gohan), with removable cape, and Base Gohan and S.S.Grade 5 heads 19 Base Gohan (teenage) with his blue gi and red belt, and Super Saiayjin Grade 4 head. Kuririn: 20 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai with his orange turtle hermit gi. 21 Saiyajin Saga 22 Cell Saga, not really anything different than his Saiyajin Saga counterpart, just that he notably has a blue undershirt. Yamucha: 23 First arc of DragonBall, comes with Puar, and his removable sword. 24 Saiyajin Saga 25 Cell Saga, which is just the same figure with a different head. Tenshinhan: 26 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, comes with a Chiaotzu 27 Saiyajin Saga, also comes with a Chiaotzu 28 Cell Saga, does not come with a Chiaotzu 29 Boo Saga, comes with Chiaotzu Master Roshi: 30 Jackie Chun 31 Buff Jackie Chun Tao Pai Pai: 32 First appearance Tao Pai Pai with a pillar. 33 Cybernetic enhanced seen in 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai and onwards in Z’s filler, he has a needle hand thing that slashes Tenshinhan’s chest that made him have his iconic scar. King Piccolo: 34 King Piccolo (young) Coola: 35 Final Form, shredder looking form. Android 13 and two others: 36 Regular form 37 Super Android 13 Androids: 38 Android 18 39 Android 16, with removable hands replaced with cannons. Android 17: 40 Cell Saga 41 Super 17, with removable hands similar to 16’s Broly 42 Legendary Super Saiyajin Broly Cell: 43 1st Form / Imperfect Cell 44 2nd Form / Semi-Perfect Cell 45 Perfect Cell Boo: 46 Chibi / Kid Boo 47 Super Boo 48 Super Boo (Gotenks & Piccolo Jr absorbed) 49 Super Boo (Three Saiyajin hybrid and Piccolo Jr absorbed) Rildo: 50 Base Form Rildo 51 Sigma Canon Rildo 52 Hyper Metal Rildo Bebi (or Baby): 53 Chibi design, as seen when he confronted Goten. 54 Super Saiyajin Grade.4 Vegeta, it’s actually just Vegeta with silver hair as he was seen fighting S.S.3 Gokou 55 Super Bebi 1, where he gained Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Bullas powers, it was like a halfway transformation that made him look like the actual Bebi. 56 Super Bebi 2, where he resembles the actual Bebi, and was seen when fighting S.S.4 Gokou and Oob. Shadow Dragons: 57 Eis Shenron 58 Novoa Shenron 59 Syn Shenron 60 Omega Shenron

Ohhhh yes, very cool version of Vegeta for sure. I chose to pass on the SHF jumbo figure that was released a few years ago because of space and the price on it.
Hey! I have several different tracks incorporated into this. I use epidemic sound for all my audio tracks and sound effects. If you can let me know which part of the video you're curious about, I will let you know what track that was.
@@vascotoys I know but this vegeta has on the box the power level he got when he arrived to earth with nappa so, I guess it should include the tail, he even has the face he made when he was facing goku's kamehameha, he includes a scouter when on namek he stopped using it. SHF announced a new vegeta with the darker blue suit he had when he died on namek so, another reason for this one to include a tail.
@trickjacko8482 I think Vegeta's power level during the Saiyan Saga is 18,000. He defintiley doesn't hit 24,000 until he gets to Namek. They make a big deal about his power level being specfically that level during the fight with Cui. Also the Armor on Namek doesn't have the hip and crotch guard.
Also, Vegeta does have the scouter during the very first part of the Namek Saga. He destroyed it in front of Dodoria because he says he doesn't need it anymore.

Good ole sticky elf ears Vegeta lol
Definitely a big fan of the Namek)Freiza saga, i love the S.H version if Vegeta & the old school one is nostalgic for sure!
@hyrulegend9786 🤣🤣🤣 I was so surprised when I opened him and discovered he was sticky. Not sure what that was about! Awesome! I really appreciate you watching and glad the video brought you back from a nostalgia standpoint.
@@vascotoys For sure guess it's one of those things with aging, he's been trapped in that box for years or was lol 😆Yeah I'm a big sucker for nostalgia 💕
The one thing I can remember if I had that old vegeta is to try and make the "his power level is over 9 thousand!" Scene
I had that old vegeta action figure 😊 i actually had my late uncle paint his hair yellow 😅 it didn't come out looking like i wanted, the yellow was more like a mustard color, and it started flaking off in spots
Thanks for watching and for sharing that memory! It was cool of your Uncle to give it a shot for you.
Vegeta with large shoulder pads will forever be my favorite though I doubt he'll ever wear it again. His armor right now also looks good but the Ressurrection F armor is the second best look he's ever had. My least favorite is Buu Saga. Am never a fan of characters wearing tank tops in general
people don't remember that anime merchandise was almost non-existent back in the 90s.
dude awesome video and comparison, but man it did hurt seeing you open that sealed copy 😅, you can get them loose and still do the comparison, so there will be more sealed in the wild lol, also the aging and stickiness is prob cause they storage the fig in a hot storage no ac or sun exposure
I understand what you mean. I couldn't find any loose ones that had the saiyan armor and that's the only reason I went with a sealed one. It felt like comparing the two Vegetas without the clip on saiyan armor would have been incomplete.
I really love more the old figures than new one's
I remember my parents glueing the armor together cause i was terrible about it 😂😂 frieza armor too
@@PapaRainYT 🤣🤣🤣 well that's a solution to ensure you didn't lose your pieces! Thanks for sharing.
Older sh figuarts had markings like that on the face around the eyes. If I remember correctly, the first SS Goku had them
Oh that's right! They also had a lot more shading throughout the figures
@vascotoys yeah I recently went back to look at mine and the hands for example are so detailed and yes their skin had shading

ive been rewatching dragon ball z and man i love how complex of character vegeta is but those action figures are the best you should try to find the one with goku flexable muscles
Thanks so much for watching and leaving a comment! Those are some great choices! I'm sorry the site isn't working. I do also have them available via ebay here: www.ebay.com/usr/vasco48_sc
The large backdrops are $60 plus shipping and the detolf sized ones are $30 each plus shipping. Backdrops have a 2-3 week lead time because they are professionally printed by a third party.
You can also pull the hands off Vegeta from the 90s
@@IsaacHerring-pc9uh oh cool! Had no idea. Thanks for telling me that.
Man I really need that prince of all saiyans
He's such a good figure! Great for any DBZ collector.
I had the 90s Irwin's version and wanted them to have the same articulation as the figuarts one. I also removed the hair, I thought it was removable 😅
@DallasToysReviews yes! When I was a kid I really thought those old figures were a lot better than they actually were. They look so strange without the hair!

Dragon Ball Super Battle Collection is the true best 90's dragon ball figure
Thanks for watching and sharing your opinion! That figure was such a great part of my childhood.
The 90s figure is from the super battle collection Japanese figure line. They licensed it and rereleased it in the USA. 🇺🇸
Correct, that's covered right at the start of the video. Thanks for watching.
I have great ape vegta, wonder if they have great apes Nappa & Raditz?
So far, I believe SH figuarts jas only done Great Ape Vegeta.

No wonder the armor is non removable on the modern vegeta figures since the armor would come off very easily and therefore many people lost it, and without it he looks like he’s wearing kids jammies

Vegeta hitting that Buu saga fit
Son Gokou:
1 Chibi Gokou (first arc of DragonBall), shirt cannot come off like other figures, but only his Nyoibo with the strap.
4 Boo Saga, Super Saiayjin Grade 5 (S.S.2), so just S.S.Grade.4 Gokou (Mastered S.S.1) with a slightly different hair mold
5 GrandTour Adult Base Gokou, as seen at the beginning of the GrandTour series. I want to add this.
6 GrandTour Chibi Base Gokou, who comes with his S.S.Grade.4 head, and a removable
7 Super Saiyajin 4 (red humanoid oozaru)
Vegeta:
8 Super Saiayjin Grade 2 (buff form), aka Super Vegeta
9 Boo Saga, Super Saiayjin Grade 5, just a blue tank top with no sleeves like in the actual series.
11 Super Saiyajin 4
Gogeta:
12 Super Saiyajin 4
(Future) Trunks:
13 Original appearance, Base Form (Future) Trunks, with Super Saiyajin Grade 1 head (original form achieved on Namek), comes up with a removable sword, his jacket cannot be taken off.
14 (Room of Spirit & Time) Base (Future) Trunks, with S.S.Grade 1 head.
15 Super Saiyajin Grade 2
16 Super Saiyajin Grade 3 (super duper buff yet slow form)
Gohan:
17 Base (Future) Gohan, with Super Saiayjin Grade 1 head
18 Super Saiayjin Grade 4 (Pre-Teen Gohan), with removable cape, and Base Gohan and S.S.Grade 5 heads
19 Base Gohan (teenage) with his blue gi and red belt, and Super Saiayjin Grade 4 head.
Kuririn:
20 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai with his orange turtle hermit gi.
21 Saiyajin Saga
22 Cell Saga, not really anything different than his Saiyajin Saga counterpart, just that he notably has a blue undershirt.
Yamucha:
23 First arc of DragonBall, comes with Puar, and his removable sword.
24 Saiyajin Saga
25 Cell Saga, which is just the same figure with a different head.
Tenshinhan:
26 22nd Tenkaichi Budokai, comes with a Chiaotzu
27 Saiyajin Saga, also comes with a Chiaotzu
28 Cell Saga, does not come with a Chiaotzu
29 Boo Saga, comes with Chiaotzu
Master Roshi:
30 Jackie Chun
31 Buff Jackie Chun
Tao Pai Pai:
32 First appearance Tao Pai Pai with a pillar.
33 Cybernetic enhanced seen in 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai and onwards in Z’s filler, he has a needle hand thing that slashes Tenshinhan’s chest that made him have his iconic scar.
King Piccolo:
34 King Piccolo (young)
Coola:
35 Final Form, shredder looking form.
Android 13 and two others:
36 Regular form
37 Super Android 13
Androids:
38 Android 18
39 Android 16, with removable hands replaced with cannons.
Android 17:
40 Cell Saga
41 Super 17, with removable hands similar to 16’s
Broly
42 Legendary Super Saiyajin Broly
Cell:
43 1st Form / Imperfect Cell
44 2nd Form / Semi-Perfect Cell
45 Perfect Cell
Boo:
46 Chibi / Kid Boo
47 Super Boo
48 Super Boo (Gotenks & Piccolo Jr absorbed)
49 Super Boo (Three Saiyajin hybrid and Piccolo Jr absorbed)
Rildo:
50 Base Form Rildo
51 Sigma Canon Rildo
52 Hyper Metal Rildo
Bebi (or Baby):
53 Chibi design, as seen when he confronted Goten.
54 Super Saiyajin Grade.4 Vegeta, it’s actually just Vegeta with silver hair as he was seen fighting S.S.3 Gokou
55 Super Bebi 1, where he gained Gohan, Goten, Trunks, and Bullas powers, it was like a halfway transformation that made him look like the actual Bebi.
56 Super Bebi 2, where he resembles the actual Bebi, and was seen when fighting S.S.4 Gokou and Oob.
Shadow Dragons:
57 Eis Shenron
58 Novoa Shenron
59 Syn Shenron
60 Omega Shenron

I had the 90s vegeta
Very cool! It's a fun figure for sure
Kinda feels lopsided to compare a toy made for kids too a collectors version. The differences are less the period of release, and more the MSRP.
I'm really just trying to show how much the action figure industry has evolved. The period of release is a HUGE factor here though. The technology the modern figures have simply didn't exist in the 90s.
I feel shfiguarts has had to step up their game because of all the third party creators. There are a lot of people making really great head sculpts and figures. Glad to competition driving progression. Also seeing that old school Vegeta brought back so many memories. I too collected those when I was a kid. I wish they would make a figure where you can take the armor of like that old one.
You are so right! The third party companies have caused SHF to step it up.

No
So it doesn't have the tail? that neck gap is hideous. No figure is perfect but the super hero vegeta is not that bad.
No it doesn't have a tail because Vegeta's tail was cut off before the Namek Saga. I'm really not a fan of the Vegeta Super hero face plates.
Please moisturize. Your hands are flaking
They would be cool figures if it was more joint movement
