I have the 16 plus in black with 256gb, not everyone wants to spend the extra money or want the same phone. I find that my iPhone 16 plus is pro enough with great cameras, battery life and I’m really loving it.
If the 15 pro max wasn’t prone to major overheating I would’ve said that’s the better buy, but the 16 plus has a advantage of being no overheating and will get a extra year of updates
I chose 16 plus because 1: I don't care about HZ and PM was 200 dollar or so more expensive in my country (i say it by converting the price) 2: 15 pro series seems to have heating problems so i couldn't take the risk
Easy pick. Go with 15 Pro max, you get more and paying the same or less. I have the 15 pro max natural titanium. I can also confidently say the 15 Pro max as of right now is better than even the 16 pro max. The Apple intelligence is not here yet even though they swore the 16 like was made for the thing. But the gimmicks are not things most people care about. And that includes the slight performance improvement. People tend to hold their IPhones for years. So the gpu scores and cpu scores mean nothing to average customers.

I agree they’re both excellent phones. It’s just finding out which one is the right one for you!!! for me I got the 16 plus and I am very happy with that decision!! For what I like, it’s got most of the features the pros do and I love excellent battery life!! I do agree tha the iPhone should’ve upgraded to 120 Hz instead of 60 that being said on my iPhone 16 Plus I can take advantage of more battery life by putting it on battery saver mode Because it’s only at 60 Hz without it!! I love got the action button and the camera button and it jumped up two chips from the A16 to the A18 over my 15 plus!! phone call quality is excellent. Do I miss the third camera Yes, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me, especially with the digital two ex zoom!! also love the colors and the pill shaped camera cut out!! I’m still with the iPhone 7 Plus so I don’t really care what iPhone I get since I don’t really know what it’s like having a real iPhone. I’ll go whatever’s cheaper.
I’m going with the 15PM for this even if the 16 Plus has newer spec. Looks and feels like 16PM just without the camera control. Business wise, I feel more confident with the Pro Max vs the base model when dealing with clients (increasing sales and trust with the top end phones vs the base based on experience)
I've been resenting Apple for a while now for bringing all the fun colors to the plus line and not the pro line. They trying to say that Pro is boring?
The thing is, here in India, the 15 pro is at least 250 dollar costlier than 16. So a customer will be actually getting a bargained 15 pro by buying 16 with the performance and features that comes with it, which makes it almost indistinguishable from 15 pro.
I already got the 15 Pro Max about 3 months back (I know, I bought brand new), and thus far I am really loving it. Prior to that, I had base level iPhones: 14, 12 mini, SE 2nd Gen, iPhone 6. The 15x zoom on the 15 Pro Max has had more use than I thought I'd get out of it, and the overall quality and usage of the device has been excellent. I also have 18.1 RC installed and the Apple Intelligence features added have been fun and I can see them being occasionally useful. Image cleanup may come into use on rare occasion, and works very well the few times I've used it. Aside from the zoom, there really isn't much difference between the two for my usage scenarios.
In my opinion I like the 15 Pro/Max Lenses better. The new design for the lenses on the 16 don’t look that nice to me. I preferred the 15 Dual Camera Lenses more than the 16.
The camera shape was better on the iPhone 12 as usual and uglier on the older one, but its light weight makes me ignore the Pro as well. It's normal. You'll find it new even after four years.
The regular 16 series wobbles like one of those tables in a restaurant with uneven legs. Maybe a folded up napkin or some sugar packets strategically placed could fix the wobbly iPhone like it does a wobbly table.
I think a iPhone 15 Pro Max vs 16 Pro would be the better comparison video. I think a lot of people are considering those 2 when upgrading from an older model as the 16 pro got bigger.
For me, the chipset is not a significant factor, especially considering it is just only a year ahead. You won’t notice any difference in performance. What truly matters are the visible features. The additional camera, 120Hz refresh rate, thinner bezel are all notable improvements.The extra button on the iPhone 16 models is 🗑️. I’m sure Steve Jobs is not pleased about the extra button, especially since he famously criticized the phones with multiple buttons during 1st iPhone initial launch.
the only reason i would get 16 plus is for longer amount of software updates however on ebay where i will be replacing my xs i barely can find any 16s or 16 pluses

If you want apple intelligence then it’s between the 15 pros or the 16 series. I would recommend the 15 pro. If you don’t care for apple intelligence then I would recommend the standard iPhone 15 since it has 48 megapixel camera, USB-C, MagSafe, and A16 Chip

I'd opt for the high refresh rate display every time. How anyone can still justify spending premium pricing for 60hz is beyond me. Any Android manufacturer would be absolutely ripped apart for doing what Apple does yet they're getting away with it year after year because they have groomed their customers not to expect any better for what they're paying.

I agree with you though it’s ridiculous but they still sell so Apple will keep making them until they just have to change or are pressured to.
A18 may be better than the A17, but by only 5 - 15% faster. Most people would never realise during daily usage, even exporting videos or something like that will be slightly different. Nothing major. Geekbench scores are just numbers and don't mean anything to the average user. I think you're also forgetting the fact that the A17 Pro chip is still an incredibly powerful chip, very very very capable of running apple intelligence. So regarding the 16 and 15 pro max, you won't really lose out on performance. Both are overkill chips for any task, even apple intelligence. Aside from a slight cpu upgrade, i'd rather have promotion, better cameras, better battery, and if you wanna get technical the 15 PM also has USB 3, allowing for faster transfer speeds. As for the thermal issues on the 15 pro max, you only really notice those issues when doing heavy tasks such as recording in high resolution in the camera app or exporting videos over a few minutes (this is normal for most phones anyway). IOS 18.0.1 has fixed a lot of thermal issues on the phone. From experience, my phone never gets hot under regular use, or even taking pictures in the camera app. It's a pretty cool phone if you ask me. Even if I did have slight thermal issues, I'd rather have all the other stuff I listed above than a phone getting SLIGHTLY warm, thats just me though. Stop relying on geekbench scores and pay attention to stuff that actually matter. The 15 pro max is the smarter choice.

Both cpus are overkill as i already said for apple intelligence, daily tasks and heavy tasks. The A17 Pro can already run Triple A games, so theres no need to have another chip which is 30% better, both are already fantastic. Geekbench doesnt mean anything for daily usage

If you don't want promotion, you can always turn it off which makes the battery probably better than the 16 plus anyway. But, if i were to choose from either phone i'd go for the 15 pro max because i've used 120hz for the longest time and i can never go back to 60. Yeah no the 14pro was so terrible I chose a 16 plus. All day battery life! My 16plus takes better photos than my 14pro did. So no pro’s anymore.

the 16 has the chassis of the 14 so the 15 pro is smaller and has narrower bezels. not to mention obviously the display and cameras are much better.
