Will cold Kmno4 oxidise alcohol?
Hi Abdullah for A level Syllabus oxidation of alcohols will require heating. Can either use KMnO4 or K2Cr2O7 in dil H2SO4 heat or reflux. 😊
Thankyou
You are welcome. Happy mugging! 😊
Can alcohol react with Br2 (aq)?
Hi Sivvani for A Level Chemistry syllabus alcohols will not react with aqueous bromine. However phenol will be able to react with aqueous bromine to form 2,4,6-tribromophenol. This is an electrophilic substitution of benzene due to highly activating effect of -OH group.
