Oh my goodness…I love this. I simply can not follow a pattern without turning it into something completely different than the carefully thought out plan. You just confirmed that I’m not being disrespectful to the pattern….I’m just letting the quirky side of my brain run with it. Watching this has given me so many ideas …. Thank you for helping to break the rut that I was in. Life really doesn’t have to be perfect to be beautiful…..❤
This just makes my heart sing, Kimblerly--it's exactly why I do the videos, and I'm so happy you found something freeing in them. You go, girl--make all those quilts that are YOUR quilts!!!
Hello there!! I’m fairly new to your channel and I really love your improv ideas, they are so encouraging. I subscribed for more such fun project ideas from you 😊 wishing you a happy and healthy new year!!
Pressing open....Ugh. (Ugh through my sheer laziness). In general, I worship at the church of "Spin that Seam" or "Press in the direction it wants to go" within a block. I have resorted to pressing open between blocks if all else fails--and coupled with the vow of "never again". Love the wonk in this block. (I should work on a rapper song) Happy New Year and may all good things find you and stick like Velcro. I think that part of the charm and insight is seeing the creative process unfold. It ain't always pretty--and I guess my voyeuristic tendencies are such that I love seeing someone demonstrate the tortuous process that is needed (and I go through myself) to create something fresh ...and brilliant (okay , my results vary on this!). There is a very easy way to speed things up for your toe-tapping viewers with the playback speed.
I know; I kind of feel the same about pressing seams open, but I end up doing quite a lot of it because I make a lot of One Block Wonder quilts, and I do press most of those seams open.

Very cool looking! I'm a visual person so at first I'm thinking, what the heck, but then seeing it, very artsy! Nice concept! ❤
Thanks, Joann! I'm with you on not knowing how I'll like it 'til it's finished. 😂

I definitely would like to see a block that started with a print in the middle of this process. Thanks again for sharing!
It's my pleasure, Mary Jo; thank you for watching!

Thanks, Lesley! 🥰
You should have this planned out before you start. Just saying
LOL!
I think that the point is to show an extemporaneous creative process. Just saying.
