Other guides had me trying some method that claimed you could recover deleted data from a Mac using terminal commands, but it turned out to just be a bunch of steps to get stuff back from the trash-something I could’ve done manually in two clicks. Glad you didn’t include that in your video! :)
I tried Disk Drill right after I accidentally deleted a folder with important files. Unfortunately, Disk Drill did not find any of the deleted files. To be honest, Disk Drill did not find any deleted files at all. Not even those that were deliberately deleted. Only cryptic system files stuff. Can that be?
Disk Drill did not seem to have an option to recover by file structure. I have many folders containing thousands of files and I need to recover at the folder level all the way down to files.
great video - thanks! I like disk drill and have to restore a 2TB drive formatted in error, disk drill found everything but ... any discount code for disk drill?
@@cleverfiles I'm very disappointed - the announced remaining recovery time keeps increasing, it started off with 4h and is now at 21h after 150GB from 600GB... Also the preference not to recover files smaller than does not work and it s recovering picture files
Hi so a file folder synced from my iCloud on phone and its went right into trashcan on MacBook so it got erased accidentally on my MacBook so then it disappeared from my phone as well. Its it possible to get back i downloaded Disk Drill but since the iCloud wasn't downloaded to the mac only synced can i still get it back? If not is there a way to do the disk drill on the iPhone 15 pro max? Thank you
I accidentally deleted file and emptied bin and I used disk drill5 and i used how u told but it’s not working 😱😱 it’s just scanning what’s in my computer not founding what I lost 😢
Hi, How can I restore an unmountable drive on mac os, when disk uitlity is not working?? I dont need the data anymore, so I just need to reformat the drive so it can show up on my mac. but disk utility keeps showing an error and it wont restore/erase the drive. is there any software for this?
If Disk Utility isn't working, you can try 1. In Terminal type 'diskutil list' and press Enter. This will list all the connected drives. 2. Boot into Recovery Mode. Sometimes, Disk Utility in Recovery Mode can repair or format disks that it couldn't in normal mode.
This is great but I accidentally made a call during a messenger chat. In order to 'hang up' I accidentally deleted the entire thread. These are different fees so idk what to do. Maybe Mac tech support will help
Am i wrong in thinking that back ups in Time machine can only be restored if they are the same MacOS ??? I have Sequoia installed but all my backups are with Sonoma and its not letting me restore. I'm too afraid to do a full restore and wipe everything,, if possible I just want to retrieve our family vacation videos from the emptied trash.... I know, I know.... bonehead move. Any advice much appreciated.
Time Machine backups are easier to restore on the same macOS version, which might be causing issues with Sequoia and Sonoma. Instead of a full restore, manually access the backup and copy your vacation videos. You can navigate the backup in Finder and search for the files. If that fails, try data recovery software to retrieve files from the emptied trash. Upgrading to Sonoma could also help with restoring the backup.
@@cleverfiles Thanks for the advice but the files were originally in my external HD and I cannot access that in the TM backup. I think I accidentally deleted the files from Itunes TV and it wiped them from my Exteranl HD. It seems only certain things are accessible in the back ups...

These kinds of videos are so deceptive, they will show you certain programs then in the middle of it when yoiu don't opt because these videos don't tell you, then you will have caused more loss on your lost files.

The part about recovering files from iCloud was really helpful. I always forget about the 'Recently Deleted' folder. Thanks for the reminder!

This was indeed helpful. Actually used the icloud to retrieve a folder with about 300 files . Thanks
I lost some files after updating to macOS Sonoma, glad to know there are ways to recover them
Hi there, does it work even if the Mac has been reset to factory settings? For example if I bought it from a family member?
In this case, the data was overwritten
Thanks for the helpful hints. This is the first time I've found out about the trick with restoring deleted Music Library.
Happy to help!

You can scan your local drives and iOS device using Disk Drill. Make sure to scan an entire drive and preview your scan results before recovery.
