Most of these comments are from a year ago. But I am here because I saw the PS 220 E in a guitar store a couple of days ago. When I strummed it the first time I looked up at my wife whose eyes were open wide, and jaw had drawn! What a unique, warm sound! But Fender?! And since it was “open box / retired demo” only $663… I’m thinking it over…

Hey guys, my PS-220E in 3 tone burst, just arrived at my home yesterday. I was lucky enough to be able to pick the one I wanted from a few examples the store had. Mine has an outstanding figured back. It feels great in the hand, and is way louder on the low end than I would have thought for a parlor. Sustains, and resonates like a champ. Couldn't be happier with my purchase. The cost/feature set really can't be beat currently.

Way to ROCK IT!!!!! Always a honor, privilege and pleasure to partake of your axe awesomeness. Since you asked, I think they're gorgeous. Congrats to Fender! I love the headstock, fretboard, western motif appointments, REALLY distinctive and tasteful. Same with the rosette, purfling, and back - beautifully striking wood. I thought the proportion of the parlor lower bout might have elicited comment, seems large for a parlor. Could one hear that design in the sound? Maybe I'm wrong. Well done on detailing the vaiue points in its class. Frankly, I'd dig the thin finish, unless the humidity effect and tuning were effected. A little "roughness" wouldn't bother me at all. I welcome the difference. I love seeing the pours. I love the new thin finishes.
As always, I'd request a slow picking of each string, maybe do so at the end of demos. I really want to hear each string separately, and its resonance & sustain, particularly the bass E. Cooper can make a broom sound good. Also, I'd have liked to hear what you think the shifted X bracing brought to the table. Can the right hand feel the nexk vibrate? Lastly, I'm surprised to hear this is Fender's flagship. I heard a Fender, beautiful metallic reddish Newporter a few years ago that rivaled ANY dreadnought. Don't believe me? ruclips.net/video/tKwq-kfkr3U/видео.html .
    Thanks again.

Thank you for this post. I enjoy listening to new products from what I will consider electric guitar makers first and acoustic guitar makers second a and fender has done a nice job with these guitars. Oh by the way, and this just doesn’t apply to this video but it might be helpful to those of us listening to tell us what strings are on each instrument that you demo. Not necessarily name brand but gauge maybe?

Love the paramount series. I have a PM-3 natural, one of the first models. Recently I thought about getting a Taylor, but the Paramount feels more comfortable to play. Love the hard case too, perfect fit - not red like Taylor’s. Fender brought the game up for acoustic guitars no doubt! Nice review, thank you

I'm left-handed and I have a Fender CC-60S that I absolutely adore! I picked it out over much more expensive smaller bodied left-handed acoustics when I bought it - money wasn't the main driver - and I still haven't found a left-handed concert-sized acoustic that is significantly better. I put better tuners on it and I have tweaked the setup so this little box gets better sounding the more I play it. I've played others like it in shops and mine just has a feel and tone the ones just like it can't match.

I have a Fender 140 SCE in sunburst. Made in Indonesia and amazing sound and quality. The action is almost as low as my Strat and the sound cannot be beat with the Fishman pickups. I go into my local shop where I got this Fender and try the Taylors and Martins. While those are excellent, I have not upgraded to those great guitar companies because I just think my Fender is so hard to beat. Thanks to my great local shop, they included a case and dropped the price by 100 dollars. Value for money, it cannot compare!

I've had several Fenders in my hand during the time and I can say they felt good in the hand but couldn't say the sound was amazing or the intonation. The Paramount parlor with electronics and built-in Tunner was really nice feeling, it was a high gloss though... And I loved the unique Fishman preamp design. I have a converted hand painted Fender Auditorium style CA, on my chanel, you'll find it easily with a colorful scenary. After I adjusted the intonation it sounds amazing. But it didn't when I got it.

I have been keeping my eye out for good value solid wood guitar in the 800ish range. and there aren't a whole lot of options. I really like the Martin Road Series. I am hung up on the Martin name. I can't wait to see if i can try these out side by side to see which sounds better.

A very good and honest review. I get the feeling Cooper is a bigger fan than Chris is.
I’ve not been a Fender Acoustic fan in the past. I’ve always thought their electrics were great.
For the money I’ve always believed there were better options. This new series has a nice pick up option. The hardcase is also a plus.
    I might try one out.
Not a fan of the open finish they use. Too grainy to the touch. Makes me feel like I’ve got to go out in my shop and sand it and reseal it!!!
For $1000 I think a better finish would be nice.
Thank you again. Excellent video and I truly enjoy Cooper’s playing.

I do prefer the Fishman pickups that were on the first original Paramount Series. The pickup adjustment is on the side of the guitar with the built in tuner, tone /volume where you can see it and make quick changes on the fly easier. That pickup is great. Haven't seen it on any other guitar(s) .

Both the Fender Parlour and Dreadnaught guitars sounded great, and being solid wood, having some nice inlays, an upgraded pick-up system and a hard shell case make them a great economic value. I don’t recall you specifying the nut width, but I personally prefer a 13/4” width.

    • @charlesbranch4120
      @charlesbranch4120 2 года назад +1

Nut width is 43 mm or 1.69 inches. Most of my acoustic have that nut width, but I really was brought to life with my first (and last?) all solid woods guitar that has a 44mm nut width. (It has Cole Clark's 3-sensor electronics, each sensor covering a separate frequency band, and Spanish heel construction, for a grand more than these sweet Fenders. At 66, I think it's worth going for gold. My son-in-law and grandkids will appreciate them!)

I tried one today and really liked it. It sounded good and the action felt easy to play. I compared it to a Martin 10 and preferred the feel of the Fender. The action on the Martin was a bit heavier - the Martin had a richer deep tone but the Fender cut through with a sound that was sharper and better for rock - I want to know how these Fenders compare to the Epiphone Texan. The Fender had some buzz on the higher notes beyond the 12th fret but not troubling. I will buy the Fender if it plays better than the Texan, any insights?

I have a Paramount TE. Lightest guitar in my arsenal. Finish is so thin, a bit too thin in some places. I bought it as a B sock just because of the inconsistent finish on the top. I’ve wanted a Deluxe model but they are hard to find and way higher priced. This new PS looks exactly like my PRS SE P 20. My FAVORITE Fender acoustic (I have 4) is the Ron Emory Loyalty parlor, that is VERY hard to find

I tried one but the strings felt so tight together, which made it hard for finger picking. I was gonna buy it but that was a roadblock. I tried the P-220 orchestra and was blown away with how light it was, but essentially for strumming right ? Of course Cooper has no problem picking those things but what is your advice ? Asking you because you seem to be the only one who actually own one here.

All the Fender specs pages show is that these have "C' shape necks and a 43 mm nut width (1.6875 inches, or just call it 1.69"). When Dad and I built anything, feed bunks or whatever, he'd always say, "We're only 1/64 off, and that's good enough." Hope the weather's treating you well. I delivered the Taylor Academy 12e and a too good to pass up Breedlove Organic Concert B-stock to my son in law in Richland, WA during my four-day drive to Bend, OR and back. He loves them! They're more comfortable to play (than his Breedlove Atlas, a gloss dreadnought with heavier strings). Take care, Charlie in Coeur d'Alene.

Good Vid. Ok .. The new Paramount Fender Parlor PS 220e is easily the best I've heard in it's class (by class I mean it surpasses anything under $1500 IMO). The pickup does not interest me much .. I am speaking from a pure unplugged little bluesy devil perspective. The guitar looks fabulous as well. IMO the guitar plays like a $1500 Parlor (and as far as Parlor's go .. 1500 Bux is a bit pricey for any standard because Parlors are often a little less cashola at retail compared to others in their manufacturer's line). As far as the Dread .. sound pretty good. Not a huge nut about The Orchestra version. Doesnt sound bad at all .. sounds fairly good and all just not my thing. This Paramount series is the best kept secret in all of acoustic guitar lines. The Epiphone Excellente is not quite as much a secret but it is under the radar as well .. and for $12-1300 dollars is sounds like a $4000 - 4500 guitar! I know that is the standard tag line ....and it's what so many say as soon as a great value is recognized in an acoustic but in that case I think it is not an exaggeration at all. Still don't know how Epiphone manages it. Perhaps skimpy bracing? I dunno? I'm lost how they manage at the price point they offer The Excellente at.

playability is always a personal preference. but i tried the dread, and the neck felt solid and bit heavier than my other guitar. so i find during chord change the guitar doesn't feel flimsy without a strap. But body is light, unlike other acoustic/electrics. Neck is thin, playing barre chords were comfy. Open chords sounds like studio guitar, not like most low budget guitars we play around everyday. But i wish the nut width was at least 1mm wider, which is my personal preference but I'm sure many people will be happy as it is.

I was hoping it was made in Indonesia… I knew it couldn’t be American made. I’m just trying to get away from Chinese made products. 🤷‍♂️ It ain’t easy tho.

My thoughts exactly. I try my best to keep my money out of China as well, though the feature set to price of these guitars is just too good to be ignored.

I’d have to take the Martin d10 over the Fender even with the hard case. I just trust the Martin name more when it comes to acoustic guitars. Plus I really like my d10!! And my d18!😃

If they were made in USA I would buy one for sure. Chinese made guitars are too hit or miss. Except for Eastmans, but that's another discussion.

I'm a film and television actor, and I play guitar, so I honestly was thinking from the title that Paramount Pictures--which is also CBS, which owns Fender--was making a film or series about Leo Fender, which is an awesome idea, especially if I'm cast in the starring role.
Just saying. Asking for a friend.

Problem is supply, in the UK the best you can get is an A4 acoustic. I don't even know if they're bothering with them any more

@sourav 23 do they roast amd roll the edges like the electrics, I never feel comfortable ordering online for an acoustic

@@pads-zr9ln yes they do ...in this price I feel this is the most value for money acoustic.... And at this point this is their top of the line acoustic. There's none other above this model..sizes are grand auditorium or dreadnaught.

ust received the po-220e mahogany. Its cheap chinese trash like you would expect. Intonation is flat which is weird. Action was at 6/64ths which is ok for me, but the low e buzzes on 2nd and 3rd frets. The frets literally need to be leveled out the box. My 20 year old Martin DX1 has more leveled frets(except high frets on the body). And it doesn't even play any easier than it does. now I have to pay shipping fees to send it back. Doesn't even sound like mahogany and smells like chemicals. The unsanded sides and rough edges, even the strap peg is on top of plastic with messy edges just makes the whole thing feel like garbage and I don't know what I was thinking . This video really sold me lmao...

If you’re gonna spend eight or 900 bucks on a guitar built in the Far East get yourself an Eastman Tone wise it blows away these fenders
