Great comparison, just one observation. I learned that unless you're shooting with the exact same body, sample variation might affect the color rendition. So, looking at the outcome from two different bodies and two different sensors might be a factor in the way color is being rendered on both bodies. That aside, the advantage of the 20mm in terms of sharpness and definition was evident. Again, love the production value! Keep it up👌
Correct me if I'm wrong. You were using two different cameras, Z50 and Z6? If thats correct the white balance could be a little different between the cameras. For a fair test result only one camera body should be used for this test.....just thinking😅
I would love to see this lenes test on one camera. I have the 14-24 lenes and it really is hard to beat. Let's see that before we make to many decisions. Thanks for sharing...Yes it does matter...
@@ZWadePhoto I have them both and the 14-24 is way better on my Z9...but that's just me. I still would like to see your test on one camera...like the Z9. I like them both. Fun stuff and thanks for sharing...keep it real. Have you ever heard of a Broncolor Megalite? It's a kind of soft box that hangs from the ceiling and is about 4 ft X 8 ft. and 2 ft deep. Love it!
Should have adjusted the 14-24 zoom to match the 20mm. I love the 14-24mm but the 20 f1.8 is something special and hard to beat. There is a reason why the 20 is a favourite amongst astro shooters. And stop picking on that cute little LCD window - I love it .. 🦘
The 20mm clearly looks better. However, my current questions is "does is make a difference in My output?". I don't print too much bigger than 14x11. I prefer to share via printed books. I have made the quality compromise for convenience to use the Tokina 17-35 f4. I am sure the quality is less, but it has never disappointed. I also lean towards shooting at 35mm.
Honestly with modern lenses I feel we are splitting hairs Jay. Nikon lenses are just so good. Especially with S line, I doubt you’ll have quality compromise at any price point
Jus to add to the perfect video, Z5 continues to be underrated... and it actually holduse it for my professional work and it is crazy!!!s up to a lot of other cameras - even 2023 releases - in image quality, evf and other stuff!!! I personally use it for professional work and it is CRAZY!
Do the lenses have the same width at 20mm? I was always under the impression that the 14-24 was a super wide angle but it looks like they are the same.
@@ZWadePhoto You convinced me! I bought the 20mm and love it! Some +'s: It fits in my bag, it takes 77mm filters not 112 $$$$, and it's nearly half the price of the 14-24. It's the wide angle lens I'm going to travel with. Thanks for tipping me off about this lens. It was never even on my radar before your video.

The difference are so small I’m no even sure it matters ha

Z5 z6ii. All RAW. Neutral.
@@ZWadePhoto with the subtle color differences you were noticing, the two cameras could be a factor, even using raw files.

You should rent them both and give it a whirl

Comparing a wide open zoom with a stopped down prime!
👌👌👌
Only question is does the camera body and sensor affect the colors etc.?
To a very small extent,l
Cool , That leather harness makes you look like one of those old special agent guys!!! Very nice review Z !! Rock and Roll.
Very buddy cop film vibe ha
I shoot mostly primes, but my coworkers love zooms. Both look good
Everyone has a preference! Thanks for watching my friend

Hey that little window actually came in handy outside of Astro for once haha It told me 20mm 👌👌
Thanks Z - this is a good video - educational :)

Glad you enjoyed it!
I'm a zoom shooter personally, but the z primes are tempting. either way you go out looks like you'll be happy regardless.
Everything is so optically excellent these days. It’s pretty much preference. Ha. Thanks for swinging by Tim!
Luckily I have both lenses, I am keeping 20mm on gimbal and 14-24mm is just awesome lens for wide angle
Nice buddy! Thanks for watching!

Seems Z5 holds up well YAY! I don't need speed so will happily stick with it for a while.
Yo yep! It’s a great sensor!

I agree with it being underrated. It doesn’t get a lot of love in RUclips but there is a huge silent user base for the Z5. And it’s deserved
Do you have a link to the nice harness?
It’s on Amazon. Search Coiro Dual Camera strap
The 20mm does look better! But I'd rather shoot with the 14-24.
To each their own Larry! Thanks for watching!
20mm just isn’t wide enough for me. Unless I’m doing Astro I’m taking the 14-24 every time.
Right on my dude!
This harness looks like it comes from a Star Wars movie. 😃
Or 50 shades of grey 🤪🤪

The field of view should be the same, at least within a small margin 👌
@@ZWadePhoto Thanks! I've been saving up for the 14-24 but now you got me thinking; maybe I want the 20.
@@PharaohMan007 the 20mm is waaaaay awesome. I haven’t used the 14-24 once I got it. I would try to rent both and compare 🤌🤌🤌

@@PharaohMan007 my pleasure. That lens kicks ass
I'm a 'primes all the way' person, mainly because consistency wins over flexibility for me.
Right on buddy. I think I always will be a prime guy first.
