I would also add the difference between a therapist and a coach is that a therapist has a governing board when follows ethical guidelines and provides licensure to eligible candidates. Versus a coach…a life coach, could be anyone who can own a business, without any specific training or supervision.
@@katlynperugini8763 That makes sense. I think that therapists do a lot more than “help” people with their training. I think there is different needs for both. The one thing that comes up for me if safety planning and knowing how to assess and diagnose a patient.
@kdcounseling A lifestyle coach also can't legally or ethically say that they are treating specific mental health disorders, if they do, they are liable for legal consequences from a state's licensing boards. They walk a very fine line between acting ethically as to what they can "help" with. (I'm enrolled in a MS CMHC program, nearing practicum, and we just went over this the other week funny enough)
Do you have suggestions on placement sites in South Florida? I am new to Florida and will be doing my internship there so I am searching for legitimate organizations that take students. Also, I am curious about where you would recommend doing an internship (ex; hospital, university psychology center, non profit, etc) and why?
What city are you going to be living in ? I did mine at a treatment center for substance abuse and addiction it was a great experience. I got to do group and individual therapy. It’s up to you. Some people only do Springsteen practice and have 5-6 clients a day
I work at a restaurant I worked an average of 5 nights and did this in the morning. With notes per program req you had to do about 20-23 hours a week for internship and I worked anywhere between 30-36 hrs plus I’m a mom. It can be done you just have to want to do it. Plus another 5-10 hrs for homework.
My school is requiring 30 hours a week for internship 1 and internship 2 that last for 10 weeks each. Unless I can find paid internship I will have to find an overnight job and quit my day job. It's hard to find anyone who wants to supervise on 2nd shift. My family cannot go without funds for almost 6 months for me to intern. If I can save up enough by the time my internships come up then I will do my internship without the added stress of working My sister worked a full time 40 hour job and did her internship for 25 hours a week for 16 weeks. It's certainly doable.
@kdcounseling Why did you still have school work during PrActicum and Internships? That seems like too much. During those periods I will only have homework if I take specialization courses
I loved it 👏👏👏
What would you say are the differences between being a therapist and being a coach? ✨
Let me ask a questions before I can answer. What do you think a coach does? I’m not sure myself that’s why I’m asking.

@@kdcounseling can interns work at the police department for trauma unit?
@ I haven’t seen it. But as long as a supervisor wants to supervise your hours maybe… not sure how that works though
KD thinks she’s better than everyone else
😂
Did you work full time while doing your internship? You said u interned at least 4 days a week, how many hours each day if u still worked also?
