      And no engine stop/start feature. Yes, in the cars that have this feature you can turn it off. But it has to be turned off each time the car is started as the default mode is "ON."
      Unfortunately, Mazdas still have cylinder deactivation in their lower horsepower engines. Also VVT and turbos. All of which add unnecessary complexity. But I guess you can't have everything.

      @@maxvillanueva3629 yep, it is "Totally his opinion", just like yours is "Totally your opinion". and here is "Totally mine opinion" : i wouldnt want event this small sunroof, not even panoramic. No sundroof = no leaking, better safety during a crash, lower center of gravity, lower repair bill in case of hailstorm, more headroom inside the cabin.... more pros than cons for not having a sunroof.

    • @tntmyth
      @tntmyth 4 года назад

      Panoramic sunroofs are known to leak sooner or later. Check out the car owner forums. It's heavy glass panels that have to slide, close and seal perfectly for years. Expensive to fix and once you get a wet headliner, it's possibly stained and never the same. Plus most of them let the light and heat through to some degree which heats up the car in hot states like Florida Texas and Arizona. Not to mention the weight. For those reasons, I prefer a standard sunroof or none at all if it has to be a panoramic. Thank you Mazda.

    If you still have more time with this vehicle, or if you hop into another automatic Mazda in the future, I would suggest doing some drives exclusively in the manual mode. I didn't use it too often in my Mazda3 for the first few months, but years later and I use it almost exclusively. It only sits in D when I'm on cruise control. The gears don't shift as fast as BMW's offerings, but once you're used to it you find that it doesn't matter so much. You start to get the timing of that extra 1/4 second, and you just select the change a bit sooner. I use it all the time in rush hour, preemptively dropping 2 or 3 gears as I prepare to cut into another lane. I use it to engine brake and hold revs all the freakin time, which helps you slow down in winter conditions or hills. It's also useful for launching from a stop in the winter, because I can start in 2nd gear and reduce FWD wheel spin as I launch off of a slippery surface. It really lets you pull more performance out of the vehicle without losing the benefits of an automatic.... and mind you, I'm in a 2013 (2nd gen) Mazda 3 with the old 2.0L. I'm sapping every little bit I can get out of the 155hp.

    This is the vehicle I wanted for my wife but she for some reason wanted a pathfinder. We bought a new one this past summer. While I'm happy with it, I'd still rather have the Mazda.
    As far as Bose goes, the pathfinder stereo is surprisingly decent. Much better than the 2015 maxima we had. I had a 2006 pathfinder with the Bose system and it was just ok.

    All reviewers see the scroll wheel in the Mazda’s and immediately bash it for not being a touch screen, but using it daily and getting used to it, I feel it is better than a touch screen. I have a Mazda 6, a bit older but I can tell that the cruise control is pretty good, in some aspects better than what I had in a Mercedes-Benz of the same year. Absolute win in terms of acceleration and timely breaking. Choosing between a CX-9 or an Audi Q7 which is a bit more expensive. What concerns me about CX-9 is the 2.5-liter engine. It may indeed feel sufficient but imagine this car with 4-5 passengers, some luggage, and a full tank of gas. How would that feel? I think not quite well. Would like to see a test like that.

    Cvt also uses torque converter but I really don’t like how most of them will lock up the torque converter once the car is warmed up. They should just let it be used no matter what.

    The CX-9 is a stylish vehicle, especially in its upscale Signature trim, a point made by most reviewers and fans. I like the brand. I've owned four Mazdas over the years and the company builds some outstanding vehicles. Unfortunately, the CX-9 isn't one of them.
    At 199" in length, the CX-9 is enormous for a midsize crossover. The only longer vehicles are the Dodge Durango (201") and the Chevy Traverse (203"). In terms of interior space, however, it ranks at the bottom of the class. Its 71 cubic ft of cargo space is less than compact crossovers such as the Honda CR-V and a Subaru Forester. Its total of 135 cubic ft of passenger space in its three rows compares to 151 cubic feet in the KIA Sorento, a vehicle that is nearly a foot (10") shorter. The third row is especially cramped with less legroom than the back seat of a Mustang and the least 3rd row headroom of any midsize SUV.
    The relatively cramped interior dimensions result from the extremely long distance from the front bumper to the A pillar. That's a trick that sports car designers have recognized for about a century. And while it makes for an attractive vehicle it does nothing for utility. Whether one considers these vehicles SUV's or CUV's, the "U" stands for utility and that's where the CX-9 is seriously deficient.
    The engine and drive train of the CX-9 is adequate but nothing more. Unlike all but one other midsize three row crossover it offers only a turbo 4 cylinder engine choice. (The exception is the Subaru Ascent.) The engine/drive train are appropriate for the smaller vehicles where Mazda offers it (Mazda6 and CX-5) but in a vehicle that weighs as much as 2.5 tons when loaded with fuel, passengers, and gear the long term durability of a small displacement 4 banger is a question. And even if it lasts, trying to match EPA estimates for fuel efficiency is a challenge in large vehicles with turbocharged vehicles. Topher's 20 mpg in mixed driving is not uncommon especially when the turbo is accessed on a regular basis.
    Why no V6 and an aging six speed transmission in the CX-9? Mazda says they're not needed. But as the smallest independent mass market manufacturer on the planet the more likely reason is that Mazda hasn't yet had the development budget to offer a V6 and a more efficient transmission. However, an inline six is under development and that may find its way into the successor of the CX-9. Considering the length of the engine department there's certainly enough room for it.
    On the plus side the CX-9, like all Mazdas, handles relatively well for what it is. But like any large three row crossover it's no canyon carver. If handling is a high priority and one doesn't need seating for six or more passengers and the cargo space offered by other three row crossovers, the Mazda CX-5 or even the Mazda6, each much lighter with the same power train and commitment to handling, are far superior both in handling and in straight line performance.

    Mazda makes one the most smoothest 4 cylinders in the business but wish they would up the power more. Similar in size as the Fords 4 cylinder yet the Fords power ratings are more realistic with regular gas. 270hp and 310 lb torque sounds and feels better then 227-310 or 250-320 with premium. I really think 300 hp and 320lb or so torque would be the right balance and make this suv a real alternative to the more powerful and perhaps luxurious suvs in this class but cost way more and of course most don't have the Mazda reliability reputation. My other complaint would be the tight quarters and not Rwd bias. Making this suv just a window model to me.

      You are comparing a fully loaded mazda to a base Lexus. To get it built the same way you will be spending quite a bit more for the Lexus. The base Lexus, which is still about 2 grand more doesn't even use real leather, have to pay more for all the stuff in that.

      What is cylinder deactivation? Can someone explain

    • @Matkovic99
      @Matkovic99 4 года назад +4

      @@acerrulz1053 Cylinder deactivation is where a number a cylinders (in this case two cylinders) are turned off and during highway cruising to save fuel.
      However where these systems have been implemented they have proven to be very unreliable and cause lots of problems in the lining of cylinder walls, warped cylinder rings, a whole litany of issues due to the unevenness of the heat in the engine due to only two cylinders working. Mazda just started implementing this on their top trims only and there is no way to turn this feature off. If I remember correctly on the CX-30 on cylinder deactivation it gets like 1mpg better or something lmfao
