Abel: “This plant is impossible to kill”
my poor pilea sitting next to me, slowly but surely dying: 👁👄👁
Oh no! I am sorry to hear that. I hope the video I made helps, at least. :)
Abel B yes, it was helpful! there’s lots of damage already done but i’m hoping i can resurrect her. she got root rot so i repotted her and she’s improving but now she has pests
@@alyxwells5425 I know this is an old comment but if you happen to see it I’m curious, how is your plant doing now?
I got mine in a southern window where it get a lot of sun and it grows really well.
Hi you have a beautiful piles plant. I have 2 small ones. I am looking after so well. Finally it start growing.one of the beautiful plant. Your new friend. Hope you have a good day.
Hello, thank you SO much for your kind words. I appreciate it a lot. 💚🌱
My 3 pilea place in front of my house (South facing) from June to November in full Sun, growing up very fast 2.6 feet in 2 years, when almost 0 degree, I bring them to home.
Thanks for sharing beautiful plants and great tips new subscribers watching from California
hello thanks so much po for the kind words. 💚🌱🙏🏻
So I found a crazy deal at Publix the other day and had no idea at first. I found a dying Pilea plant (had no idea what it was or anything about it). I also was going to buy another plant that was in a glass vase but it was falling in the shopping cart so I took both plants to the customer service and asked if they would hold them both and see if they could discount the Pilea plant since it was dying and was in the shade. After grabbing all my groceries I went back to customer service to grab my new plants and see what price they decided to discount the plant too if at all any discount! There was a guy there and the lady who I spoke with at first wasn’t there anymore, he said she said that they couldn’t discount it but ended up asking me if 2$ dollars would be okay after I told him I just got a new LED grow light at home and the plant was dying and needed some sun! I looked up the plant a few days later and all the prices are really high at least online I’m seeing 35-60$ prices for them!
Great video, I know you said no direct sunlight but is it the same with the LED light?
Hello pretty, unfortunately, this type of plant won't be happy if you place it directly into sunlight due to the intensity of the sun's full spectrum which we know provides better quality for your plants. However, LEDs consume less power so you don't have to worry about scorching the leaves. 💚🌱
turning.. now i know.. thank u!
yay! no worries 💚
I watched one of your videos 🎉🎉🎉It was a❤❤amazing!!!!;
aw! Thank you sooo much
Very good explanation.
Aw! Thank you Dolna. 💚🌱
Ioved your video!! Thank you..love that plants, but i don't have one yet. Thank you
Hello Connie, thank you. 💚🌱
Nice 👍
I recently repotted my plant and it has been two weeks since but she is still giving no new grows and looks so droopy. I had to assist her with some metal wires . I don't know if I should just wait or should I do something before loosing her
Hey, nice video! Thanks for all the tips! I had my pilea in a mix of perlit and coco but it was suuuper dry at the end on top. do you have any tips on how to avoid that ?
Hello Viktoria, thank you so much. You can put a little bit of moss on top of the soil. Make sure to soak the moss to make it damp and water it twice a week.
I had a main plant growing together with 4 pups in the same tera cota pot.I was very pleased with the growth, no leggy stem and rich growth and the pot looked full, the pups are around 6-8cm tall, with the mother plant growing fully straight due to rotation.I dropped the pot today by accident so I chopped off the top of the main plant and put it in water hoping it will root.Do you think I should remove the pups from the pot and repot them separately ? Would that support the rest of the main/mother plant to concentrate on new growth?
Hello, absolutely! By all means, you can separate the pups and have them grow faster and bigger. It will definitely root. Water is the fastest way for propagation. If you take the pups out it will not cause anything on the main stem. Forgive me for the late response. 🌱💚
Can you please explain the difference between direct sunlight and a spot with bright light?
Direct sunlight is literally sunlight coming through the window without any filter or obstacles.
If there is nothing between the Sun and your plant, that means your plant is under direct sunlight. Like you are under the sun without any shades.
But, a spot with bright light means just brightness that coming through window but it's not direct sunlight.
Easily speaking, it's just the brightness of daytime.
If you place your plant deep in your house far from the window, it won't get any bright light.
My window usually has a very strong direct sunlight in the afternoon but in the morning it’s bright but indirect sunlight.SO my indoor plants 🌱 are doing well in the morning until mid lunch, then I have to remove them to somewhere bright but not warm spot.
Hi my friend I have 2 peperomoides never looks healthy and happy.8 will try this tip
Hello pretty, you got it! I’m sure you’ll have yours grown well in no time. I’m rooting for you. 💚
Would this be happy sitting with my low-mid light tropicals by the humidifier, my window gets 2-3 hours of direct morning sunlight, then indirect for the rest. For reference my maiden hair fern and pink princess all seem to be healthy there. Thanks for the help :)
Hey Kevin, absolutely! You are doing the right thing for your plant. I don't know what to add more, you are doing what it should be to make this plant happy.
My said keep it in bright and indirect
Hi ,I have a plant like pilea but it's steams are shorter.🍃 And it's leaves are big not like normal pilea
Hi - I was just given a pilea that has a tall stem, slightly drooping leaves that are curling inward.
Can you give me advise on what I should do?
Hello, typically this is normal as long as the leaf is healthy. If in case the plant is by direct sunlight, you might want to try to place it away from it or you can place it with any shield to avoid scorching the leaves. Don't water it often, make sure your soil has good aeration as well. You can also try to fertilizer it with your preferred fertilizer. I hope this works. If not, don't hesitate to contact me. 🙏🏻😉
Hi! You mentioned to water the pilea 2x a week right? Will this not cause overwatering? I just got mine less than a week and haven’t watered it yet...it’s placed in a bright indirect light. The water is still moist and I’m hesitant to water. The question is should I water it or not? Thanks
Hello Mae, it depends on what media you're using. I use perlite and coco coir. It usually dries up quickly. If you are using soil, make sure you have adequate aeration for the excess water to drain. Twice a week is good enough. ☺️
Hi! I’m using a little bit of everything (coco coir, perlite, garden soil and carbonized rice haul). Place d my pilea on a clay pot.
@@maetrinidad9558 You are on the right track. Once or twice a week for watering your plant won't harm it. Make sure to not place in direct sunlight.
Got it...i just mist it 2x a day. Haven’t watered it yet.
I saw another video where it was recommended to let the plant dry out completely first before watering since naturally it’s a plant that’s in high altitudes. I’ve been watering mine daily and I haven’t noticed any problems but it was also in pretty bad shape when I bought it from Publix.
I have this filter on my Windows to people dont look in my toom and it takes a little bit of the sunlight is it okay that i put my plant there?
Hello there, it is okay; however, some plants are susceptible to light even if they're indoors. The leaves can get scorch. But by all means, you can place plants there for decor. Just be careful 🌱🌱🌱
Abel B
Okay Thank you😁
Could you give again the fertilizer you use for money plant. Thanks a lot.
Hello Cecilia, the fertilizer I used for this was the FoxFarm Gringo Rasta Funky Broadway, alternatively, you can also use the Osmocote slow-release fertilizer. :)
Hello why the leaves are current is not open it’s corrected to each other I wonder please
Hi. Great video. Thanks for explaining it in detail. I have a young plant maybe 7 inches tall all the leaves at the bottom fell or are drooping. I probably have 5 left and new leaves coming out. There is also a baby on the side about 2 inches. The weather in Arizona has been drastic. One day it's warm next it's cold. I've been moving it around to see where it will do better. I have it in my daughter's room about 4 feet from a north facing window. When should I take the baby out?? I have it in potting soil, cactus soil, bark, perlite and mosquito bits cause I dislike gnats. Any suggestions??? My daughter loves her plant and doesn't want it to die so every video she sees she wants us to watch. (Mind you she is 6). Any advice?? Thanks in advance.
Hi Michelle, thanks so much for your kind words. And keep your daughter stays like that. She must be a loving kid. For the babies, you can start digging it out and place it right away in the media you are using or you can also place it in the water in the meantime. It seems like the plant is safe where it is. Just please don't overwater it. Let it dry before watering again. You can also feed it with slow-release fertilizer to give you huge leaves. Keep me posted. Thanks so much and Happy New Year
Where do you live? Do I still need coco peat in humid areas? (FL, TX)?
I took over a pilea plant from a friend that is doesn't look healthy. The stems are long but leaves are small. A couple day after I brought it home 2 bottom leaves are turning yellow , a couple other have brown spots and most other leaves are curled. I only water thoroughly every 2 weeks. Yesterday I saw new leaves growing on the top while other issue remain, It's on a window sill facing north (a couple hours of direct sunlight in the morning at most). Do you know what else i can do? I have also added some egg shell as fertilizer. Thanks in advance.
Hi Chris, it seems like you are ahead of the game. You can also check your soil, make sure it has good aeration. I use coco coir mixed with perlite and it thrives well in that media. Also, keep on feeding your plant, it will give you huge and bushy leaves. I guess that's all I can add. You are doing a good job in keeping the plant happy.
I got mine a few weeks ago and many leaves have fallen off but no new baby leaves have sprouted. The leaves it does have are curling. I’ve tried everything I can’t figure out what’s wrong😭 the leaves are growing outwards but the center stem isn’t getting any taller can you please help
Hello Nicole, thanks for reaching out. In your case, you might want to check the soil. I've never experienced the leaves have fallen on my pilea. Usually, pilea is not at risk of having root rot. Try these steps: Make sure you have good aeration on your soil. water your plant at least twice a week. Place the plant away from direct sunlight (this can scorch the leaves). You can also feed your plant with a slow-release fertilizer. The stem takes some time to grow. What I did in my pilea, I took the babies out (separated) them every time there's a new growth that is growing. It took me a while to have the stem gets taller. I hope this helps you somehow. If this doesn't work, you can always dig it out from the soil and place it directly in the water. :)
They can take direct morning sun
Mine in water afraid it will not grow in soil... cutting has roots
My Pilea is very slow in growth and leaves are tiny and curled. I water them fully once in Two weeks, with mild npk. Its been 4 months, like this. Please suggest some tips.
Hello, I use coco coir mixed with perlite for my pilea. This plant is not hard to care but with the right substrates, it will thrive. If you are using soil, I highly recommend to check the roots. Maybe it’s not draining well. Another alternative is to take it off the soil and place it in the water. I hope this help. 🥰
what plant is the vine on top right with silver spots?
Hello, that's the Scindapsus pictus "exotica" 🌱 or the satin pothos
Is this plant known as coin plant too? How come your plant has a thick stem? All my leaves grows from the ground with thin stems.
Hello Vicky, yes it is. It actually comes in different names. Don't worry. Just hang in there, it takes time to see the beauty of this plant. Place it in a bright area (indirect) but not direct sunlight as it can scorch the leaves. Make sure to have good aeration too so that the plant can easily breathe after watering. Hope this helps! cheers! :)
I think your plant is call hydrocoyte vulgaris, they call coin plant in Chinese as well. You can google to see whether is your plant.
my pilea peromomoides has all the leaves that are coming out roll inward at the edges and it is not growing at all the leaves are slowly falling off the bottom which has very long petiole (stems) they curve like a ball so I moved it from so much light, now what? is the plant rotting ? plant is not full. the stalk stretches between the leaves. you can see the central stem very easily,
Have you fertilized your plant before? Also how often do you water it? Mine wasn't growing either so I changed those 2 things and it grew 7 leaves in roughly a month and a half
How can I get new leaves to grow on the bottom stem where other leaves fell off ?
Hello Paulette, usually, it’ll take some time to see new growth on the leggy part. Unfortunately, you have to wait until it shows new signs of growth. It will branch out. In most cases, it will stay as it is. New growth will push out on the top part until it grows.
Nice video. Liked and subbed. Stay connected 👍🔔😉
Thanks so much 💚🌱
Hi where did you get yours?
Yes because Im looking high and low for one 🤷🏾
Hi . My piles leaf is bending down and the leaf is not dark green like yours...it looks like light green leaf ...please suggest... I had fertilized miracle go fertilizer from then my leaf is growing new babies but it lost its charm...leaf are bending down...& please suggest any brand soil which I can order from Amazon as i dont know which soil I should buy
Hello Ria, I'm sorry to hear about your concern. From what I understand it seems that the "light green leaf" tells me the plant got burned from fertilizing. I highly suggest checking the stem and roots of your plant. If you see some root rots, immediately change the media you're using.
You can use coco coir as pilea thrives well in it; mix it with perlite or bark for good aeration.
If you want the plants to get rooted more, place them in water in the meantime.
If you prefer to use a different media, get coco coir to mix it with perlite/bark.
Please, refrain from fertilizing and overwatering. You can water your plant twice a week. If the plant is stable after 2weeks or so, then you can use a "slow-release" fertilizer, this one won't make your plant suffer from a burn. You can get the OSMOCOTE FERTILIZER on amazon.
I hope this helps. Keep me posted. I'd love to help. 😉🌱
@@AbelS12 thank u so much for detailed explanation, surely I will do and let u know the results also .Thanks once again
should i cut out my babies? my plant isn’t growing very tell and i have roughly 10 babies in the same pot and some are getting quite large. I’m worried the babies are taking up too much energy and stopping the plant from growing taller. i dont want to propagate anymore of them but i feel bad throwing away the babies 😅 i have no other friends who would like a plant gift :((
Oh boy! I’m sorry to hear that. I guess my advice is to keep the babies in place. Hehe, it won’t take any energy from the big stems. Don’t worry about it. Also, if you want, you can always take it and place it in a jar with water. Let them
Multiply. Hehe
Where do you buy the fertilizer
i can't understand the name of the fertolizer you are talking about, gringo rapsa funky blue?
Hello, it’s GRINGO RASTA FUNKY BROADWAY.
When do you repot ? I got mine pretty small
Hello Christal, sorry for the delay. I usually repot my plant in springtime. If you got your plant small, you can still wait for a bit until you see that it is almost getting rootbound. That way you have an idea of how big the pot you’ll be using next. :)
how to make lots of leaves because until now it has only 4 leaves. Thanks 😊
Hello Jalice, it really depends on the temperature and humidity in your area. One factor as well is the fertilizer you’re using. You can place this plant in direct sunlight and feed it with a slow-release fertilizer. I hope this helps. 🌱
A rat knocked over my pot and it fell on the ground. I couldnt bring it back after that
Oh boy! I would say, take whatever stem that was left and place them in the water, to have it rooted.
A rat?!
It was a rat jumping around the corner looking for a food
you live in ny?
Hi from Brazil! I'm having a hard time with my pilea. The leaves are getting curved and falling off. What can I do? Help me, please? 😣😣
Hi Jacqueline, I'm sorry to hear that. Usually, when the leaves are curving, it's because of overwatering, or something's going on the roots. If that's the case, you have to dig the plant and check the roots. If nothing is happening, you can place the plant INDIRECT sunlight; if the weather is not too cold in your place, fertilize it as well (with your preferred fertilizer). I hope this helps.
So I have a grow light for mine how far away should it be my leaves are brown on ends ..i have tried everything. I have north facing windows:(
What fertilizer do you use?
Hey, sorry for the late response. I live in Canada. You probably have more humidity than in my place. I use the gringo rasta fertilizer and the osmocote slow-release one. :)
This grows wild in my garden.is it edible
Hi John, that's awesome! I bet they're beautiful. I never had a clue that you can eat this, interesting. Thanks for the info. 🙏🏻☺️
can we able to grow the plant in water only
Hey yes, absolutely. You can always try the water method. :)
What is the name of the fertilizer you are using now?
hey, I am using the slow-release osmocote fertilizer now. :)
@@AbelS12 thank you so much! I found it in your Amazon link and ordered it!!!
Bismillah... Do you mist your plant?
Hello, sometimes I do. :)
It's also called elephant ear. What is it called in China? I mean how do they pronounce it? In Scandinavia it's pronounced pee-leh-ah
Hello Primrose, thanks for the additional information. I'm sorry it took me so long to respond to your comment. To be honest, I have no clue how they pronounce it in China. I am from the Philippines. :)
all the leaves turned black on mine
oh no! did you fertilize it somehow? it's probably because of burn. :(
Why are my pilea leaves curling outward?
Hello Kelsey, try to place your pilea in a bright area where the sun is coming through. Also, feed it with the fertilizer of your choice. This helps to make the leaves spread out or open up.
