Thank you. Your explanations are clear and well understood. I like how you decide to change something on the flight plan as we are flying. You explain every step clearly. I live in California and personal family medical problems stopped my flying and had to sell my aircraft 33 years ago. Now I am about to own a Diamond 62 in about a year and all of a sudden I have to get up to speed on “glass “ instrument panel. Your GARMAN 1000nxi presentations are just wonderful. I cannot believe how much easier it’s going to be to fly again. Thank you for your time and energy producing very useful training videos.
In addition to being very good tutorials, the audio and diction is perfect for those who do not have a very fluent knowledge of English. It is appreciated.
I just want to add to my previous comment - your Garmin series is worth watching more than once. It is easy to get overwhelmed with the complexities of Garmin and of flight planning in general. But the first two videos in this series, when watched a couple of times in between practice flights, means that when I watch this third one, I find myself saying "ah yes!" because I can now relate to each step in the process. You made it fun! Thank you!
Your tutorials are soooooo good. Easy to understand, easy to follow along with, well paced, covers everything and not just one or two. Love how you reiterate to make sure we understand. Thanks for these!🙏💪👍👍
Brilliant Flyover! I am so glad smart people share their knowledge! I confess I'm going to have to watch 1, 2 and 3 again, but that's the beauty of RUclips!

Very good series! I always wanted to learn garmin system. I loved how you really focused on the instruments instead of showing the scenery. Thank you for the effort good sir!
Your videos have been very helpful. Ive watched a lot of other videos as well, but you are one a few others that cover your information very well and make it easier to understand and follow. Appreciate it
I'm doing this exact same flight now, I didn't have to do the direct to SIRMI, the GPS automatically detected the route and followed it. Other than that everything worked exactly as what you did in the video. great tutorial!
Thank you for the series. Very well done. I can now make lot more use of the G1000. And convinced me to upgrade my Navigraph account from fmc to charts :D. (Used those from IVAO (Europe, but each country accessed differently) and skyvector for US before, but it's much nicer in one place and I especially like the MSFS ingame app, the map/chart overlay, and SID/STAR overview)
Thankyou Flyover a superb tutorial, I do find the navigation as enjoyable as the flying , ( landing and taking off) and will do this trip you have shown . you have doubled my enjoyment o MSFS.

I am a new user to MSFS and I was very frustrated with the Garmin G1000. I stumbled upon the video series produced by FlyOver and after going over 1,2 and 3 many times I was able to successfully complete an IFR GPS flight in a Cessna 172 equipped with a Garmin G1000 NXi from Regina Saskatchewan Canada to Saskatoon Saskatchewan. I would not have ben able to pernitrate the complexity of the G1000 with out the Videos you provided. I am looking forward to learning about the holds and other techniques. Thank You!!!
Thank you for the nice comment, happy to hear that my videos helped you. There will be more videos on the channel in some time. Also if you need one-on-one tutoring or instructions in MSFS and flying, I have an affordable program that I've been running for a while now and have plenty of happy students. Feel free to email me for details, the email is in the description of the channel, or you can join channel discord which is also in the description of the channel on the main page.
Great video. Thanks. I thought when you selected "Direct To" in the flight plan, that the Garmin would have taken you the most direct course to the waypoint you selected. Why did the Garmin choose a course that made the plane fly to the right before intercepting the course it chose?
Excellent content, your explanation is very clear and detailed. I learned many things in this video series. Your English is perfect for non-native speakers like me, I can understand much better what you are teaching. Congratulations and thank you!
You just got a new sub!!! I love the way you explain everything including Little Nav Maps, Navigraph, etc... Please keep these coming. You are so far one of the best if not the best I have seen....

Obviously i feel i lack some knowledge here, but there's one tip i can give you as well: Instead of taking the time to dial the HDG bug to runway heading, just depress it once when you're lined up. Depressing the HDG bug will always set it to current HDG, so when you're lined up for T/O, depressing it will align it with you (and you are aligned with the runway already so HDG bug = runway heading as well after pressing it once). EDIT: Obviously same goes for turns. Just wait for the turn to finish, then depress the HDG bug once and boom - the bug is lined up with current heading again.
Yes i know that, but unfortunately not working on all airplanes. That's why i better do regular way, also for immersion, not realistic if you press and its set.
@@FlyOverGames not realistic? Damn i didn't know that - i learned so much already thx to this tutorial series - been a while since "flying" civil sims.. You do a great job btw, forgot to include that in first comment!
Excellent demonstration of the Garmin G1000. Perhaps a few more outside shots would show the lovely scenery of Croatia. I've been to Dubrovnik on holidays and that's no easy approach.
Thank you FlyOver for an excellent series. I just finished Ep.3 and have a small comment, because I spent a long time making the flight plan, I think it would be useful for everyone to know how to save the it as a .pln file in MSFS for another day.
If you type plan in G1000, there is no way to save it anymore. What you can do is make a plan with Little Nav Map, save it, load it into MSFS, and will be loaded in the G1000 when you start the airplane, also will be saved for future use. This is not unrealistic because, I think in real life you can load flight plans with an SD card in G1000, so it won't kill the immersion. Btw, with SU10 new updated G1000NXi is out, so I plan to make new series of videos with more data, more options, and more possibilities that you can do with G1000 NXi after the update.
@@FlyOverGames Hi FlyOver, It actually is the G1000 nxi that I'm speaking about, but I had to seek help from the MSFS forum because apparently (and I'm sure you know this) you have to save the flight that has the flight plan, as a .PLN. file not a .FLT. To do this we have to type *PLN into the description line for the 'Save' dialogue and then the flight is saved as a .PLN file. This works for me, I saved and then loaded the Split to Zagreb flight and the flight plan in the G1000 nxi is also loaded back the day after. Thank you again for your tutorials. Lokking forward to more.
@@trevorjohnson1526 Yes it must be in the format that MSFS can read, Little Nav Map can do that if you go on export option, you can save in many different formats. In the previous comment my point was that you can't save the plan if you manually enter in the G1000nxi, so if you want saved plan you must make a plan in an external program and load it in the MSFS.
Thank you very much for your very informative videos, I have watched 1 and 2 and now number 3 and find your explanations very good indeed, I love your accent and it's fully understandable, with excellent grammar and phonetics! I notice you have more videos to watch so will take advantage of your expertise. Thanks again , and all the best.
Thank you very much for the nice comment. More videos is about to come actually, just as soon as I catch some time to record. I'm hoping for a minimum of 2 videos per week.
Some tutorials very well explained. If I may, I have two questions for you, if you would be so kind as to answer me: 1) How did you turn the background black of the LittleNavMap? It's a program I've used for a long time, but I don't do this. 2) Is there any way to save, IN THE G-1000NXI the flight plan that we just created and be able to recover it FROM THE SAME G-1000NXI whenever we want? Thanks a lot.
Thank you for the comment, here is answers. 1. Upper Menu, Window/Style and than choose NIGHT theme 2. Unfortunately no, you can make fpl with LNM and load into MSFS, it will be loaded automatic in the G1000NXI and also will be saved for the future use, but cannot save from G1000.
minute 48:21 - you lowered flaps with 136 TAS that appears in the green zone. i think you can only use flaps in the white zone. meaning you had to be slower (around 119 according the color scale next to the speed scale)
Was there any option for flying directly to SIRMI without being put outside of the resulting plotted course? I saw that it said that its bearing was 08 and you set 07. But I would suspect that even setting 08 would still put you outside the course. You'd need decimals in order to get it exact, which is why I would hope that there was a "direct to" function. BTW: I think that you could use the Garmin to find the ILS frequency. I don't remember exactly how. I also think there was a way to specify the restrictions to say "not above altitude X" vs "not below altitude X". Again, I don't remember how. Excellent content, though, you are talking us through it. Very informative. Good work. I realize I may be late to the party, but something that I wonder about is if the Garmin can tell you what ATC you respond to at any given moment and find the transition points airspace to airspace so that you can prepare the frequency change before being instructed by ATC. Can you get the approach card from the Little Navmap or some other source that doesn't cost money? The range button also has a PAN function. So you can move the map sideways. You don't have to wait for something to get close before you can zoom in on it. I believe you click the top and drag your mouse. When making a GPS turn and adjusting your heading bug and also when setting the heading bug for takeoff, you can just press the top of the heading knob and it will set your current heading.
Thank you for the comment, but all the things you mentioned are not related to this video, because this video was recorded before the G1000NXi update, so all the functions are not there, just basic GPS with some functions. I have to record a new tutorial since G1000 is updated with the NXi version and has so many new features. To answer your question, there are charts for the USA for free, for the rest of the world unfortunately you will have to play Navigraph subscription.
These are amazing videos...I m familiarising with G1000 avionics....these videos are useful in addition to all the others on this subject.... Can you suggest a credible site from which the 2020 microsoft flight simulator can be purchased online and uploaded on the PC? And the requirements of the PC... Many thanks captain
Steam Launcher or Microsoft Store, for purchase and install (Steam will be my choice). Regarding the requirements, huh, it's hard to say, need a pretty beefy PC to run smooth. Like minimum 8 cores CPU, 32GB RAM, I have RTX 2060, but it could be better, and also need a SSD with min 1GB space if you gonna run mods or 300 GB without mods but with with all updates.
Thank you for these great series, I am new to the G1000, Just started to fly the Cockspur Cessna Mustang 510 and learned a lot from you. Any chance doing a FLP set up in the Cockspur Cessna 510? Thank you again, Glad I found your channel.
Not really, I'm a little disappointed in that airplane, I tried it before and couldn't arm APP, the button was not working. But it is G1000, I have a tutorial for setting flight plans, it is the same as in other airplanes.
@@FlyOverGames Thank you for your response, the APP works fine in the aircraft, they had a update .06 I believe which may have fixed that. Thank you anyways.
@@andrew194854 I don't plan to make a video for that airplane because it is same G1000 as it is in the DA62, however, there was an update on G1000, and I plan to make a detailed video for G1000 that you can use with any airplane. That video coming soon.
Hi, looking at your PC specs, you have an excellent video resolution, the picture is so sharp both inside and outside the a/c. Better yet the frame rate is always around 60fps. What software did you use to add the red flight infos on the top left corner of the screen?
It is a decent PC, my settings are actually a bit higher than recommended but still, I had around 60 fps, depending on terrain, scenery, and weather. That info in the left corner is an addon called "Shift+Z Stats" I can't give a link here, but if you go on flightsimto page and search for it, you can download it and put it in the community folder. When you load the flight, just go with the mouse in that menu on the upper part of the screen and turn on Shift+Z stats ON. I put the link on my discord so you can find it easy.
Greetings, and congratulations for this nice series of tutos on G1000NXi ! Just a question tho : i have black screens (PFD and MFD) on the DA62 (only on this specific plane, and i'm using WT addon of course). I was told it's a bug with several aircrafts, but i got only problem with this one. Any idea ??
To be honest that bug should be gone with the new update in MSFS. If I may suggest, try to turn off all add-ons and turn them on one by one to see which add-ons make a problem. Also, try to redownload the enhancement mod for DA62 if you are using one, and remove G1000NXi from the marketplace, because G1000NXi is now installed as default in all airplanes that are supported and you don't need the marketplace version anymore. Try all that and please inform me if anything helped.
@@FlyOverGames Thank you very much for your reply. I did try all option, and still got the issue. I removed all my WT related addons, and let everything by default. Actually, i got no DA62 addon, it still doesn't work on that plane only. That's really strange as all other G1000 aircraft work properly. It seems really to be a bug related to this particular plane.
@@FlyOverGames Hello Flyover, Yes you were right. I installed the improvement mod and everything works fine :) So i guess it is a bug on the stock plane. I've been looking on official forum and it seems that some other people got the same issue. Thank you very much for your help. Continue your excellent work on tutorials, you are crystal clear and thanks again to share your time and your experience.
@@Starfix00 I'm so happy that it works. No worries about improvement mod, it doesn't change how plane operate, just physics and aerodynamics, maybe few buttons in the cockpit, but nothing special. Just follow tutorials and you will be good, btw expect soon new series of tutorials for G1000NXi, since it was many updates recently.
I noticed that you too rotated the knob right to zoom in the map, then had to reverse direction. I still do that instinctively. It seems to me that the knob direction should be the other way. Not sure if that is how the real g1000 functions.
I took a break for a while to settle some private things, but I plan for sure continue recording. There are many tutorials I already did that need newer version. It was many updates since I recorded those videos, so I plan to renew old tutorials and make some new. Like I said, very soon you may expect new video.

Perhaps I missed it, but you might want to discuss how to adjust the rate of descent, i.e. 900 fpm, or 500 fpm.
It is in the video
@@FlyOverGames getting one soon..thanks for advice....if u can get in some tutorials on C208B that can also be very useful
Helpful tutorial. Thank you. How do you get that red overlay in the upper right showing the FPS and sim rate?
It is addon called Shift + Z stats, you can download it on: flightsim.to/file/16358/shift-z-stats
Thank you!
Great content sir, keep up the good work😊😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you very much.
I put the link on my discord so you can find it easy.
excellent tutorial! very much appreciated!
Beautiful presentation thank you sire!!!
@@Starfix00 Try DA62 improvement mod, maybe that is why I don't have screen issues, maybe with mod have no problems.
Your tutorials are amazing..
Excellent video. Thank you!
Excellent tutorials, thank you so much.
I noticed that you too rotated the knob right to zoom in the map, then had to reverse direction. I still do that instinctively. It seems to me that the knob direction should be the other way. Not sure if that is how the real g1000 functions.
It is how the real G1000 does, just something that is not natural. But that is how it is made.
Very good tutorial- thank you
Thanx a lot. Great video ❤
Noticed you havent made any videos recently. Do you plan to make others?
I took a break for a while to settle some private things, but I plan for sure continue recording. There are many tutorials I already did that need newer version. It was many updates since I recorded those videos, so I plan to renew old tutorials and make some new. Like I said, very soon you may expect new video.
She did great
Excellent videos
Thanks! That's what i need!
You welcome, happy to help :D
Hi. I'm from Brazil. Very good serie of videos. I saw the fps in the left upper corner like the old Flight Simulator X. How can I put it there ? Thanks a lot.
It is an addon, you can download it from flightsim.to, here is the link: flightsim.to/file/16358/shift-z-stats
@@FlyOverGames Thanks a lot. I will follow your videos from now. Sorry my poor english.
@@ceseixas Your english is just fine, no worries. Thank you for the comment.
Thank you very much from Senegal 🙏🏿
Wonderful!
Sir I hope you can help me why i didn't have the constraints altitude in my pfd every time i activate my vnav but my vnav working except that magenta color altitude or maybe last update msfs disable that.
Do you have the newest Airac updated, that may be the reason.
Hi . Does LNM provide a chart like Navigraph chart that you use on the video?
Unfortunately no, charts are something that you must take subscription or maybe find online from various sources.
Molto bene, grazie .
I will guess that "prego" will be an appropriate answer, correct me if I'm wrong.
@@FlyOverGames appropriate . ;)
what plane are you flying. Which model of kodiak
This is Diamond 62, stock asobo airplane from msfs.
I was looking for afull tutorial on how to fly from cold start but I cannot tell the exact model of the plane on MSFS. Please let me know. I enjoyed your videos. Now I fly the FBW NX320 across the world. I just cant fly small planes yet
@@FlyOverGames Oh.woW. I never heard of it. Let me know when you are going to do a full flight cold start. Thanks from Houston TX
@@DonMercho Full tutorial for Diamond 62?? Sure, why not.
Why do you live in Malaysia?
Because it is an awesome country.
what plane is that?
Diamond DA-62, default airplane from MSFS, plus enhancement addon from flightsim.to and enhancement addon for Garmin G1000 from marketplace in game, but free. Here is full tutorial for that plane: ruclips.net/video/tV4G64tTCeY/видео.html
