Have seen a couple of RUclips channels for Piano over the years, yours is by far the best for value and clarity. 🙌 Thanks a bunch bro. Finally someone who cares more about us learning than just showing off his skills. 👏👏👏👏👏
This is a really good lesson. I've always just played around harmonizing melodies without actually knowing what I'm doing. But this is an eye opener. Thanks a bunch👍
Wooow! I just bumped into this and am smiling ☺️ whilst watching it,,, Bruh offloads every particular in your teaching, can't wait to watch more from you🥺🥰 Thank You for this peace
Very clear instructions unlocking the mystery of what I've been hearing gospel players do all these years. Thanks for this. Can you cover those voicings and small flourishes you add to each chord. You rarely play a simple block chord.
Yeah there's sooooo many recordings that use this technique! Understanding this will definitely make it easier/quicker to pick up these types of movements in songs.
Thanks for this wonderful eye opening lesson. May Jesus Continue to use you for HIS Glory, and for you to continue bless us with such marvelous gift. But can we get a part 2 on this lesson sir?
I love your channel man, I'd like to understand what is the concept that explains the possibility of making the 3rd degree a dominant chord instead of a minor one. Thanks in advance. I play the guitar but I love to learn theory with church keyboardists.
Hey! I'm not sure specifically when your referring to this, could you put the time stamp. But if I understand what you are asking is because of the chord you are passing to. Like if you want to go to the 6 chord (normally minor) you can make the 3 a major and add the dominant 7. In the key of C for instance, E major w/ the dominant 7 to A minor is like doing a 5-1 in A minor. When targeting the 4 chord, you can use the 3 like a 1 chord putting the notes in the 1 chord over the 3 (extensions as well). Many times the passing chord depending on your target chord! Hope that makes sense, feel free to ask if it wasn't clear!
@@leonalexandre1451 Yes exactly! 3 is the 5 of 6 so even though making the 3 a dominant chord is "out of the original key" it works because it leads to the next chord. Infact you can do this with any chord I believe its called "secondary dominant" if you want to look it up.
@@justin.m.drummond ok thanks! Haha I actually already know this concept but I didn't get that it was implied here, for example in jazz and/or in blues a lot of major chords are exchanged with dominant chords and I was wondering how was that even possible, other than just "cuz it sounds good" lol
There is a ” ghost note “ in the major scale. It’s not taught in mainstream music theory. That “ghost note” is the flattened 6th. That makes the 3 a dominant. Reference Barry Harris.👊🏽
This is one of the best videos on showing how to add Harmony to make songs more powerful.

Your videos are on point man. Great overlay with keys and staff.
