OHMYGOSH! I love those little guys! I'm all about dogs. I love them all but especially small ones. I had 2 half-sister poodles several years back. Their size differences were about the same. The only time they got in a fight was when it came to food. I may not even have any food for them, but if one of them got it in her mind that the other might get some food, she got all testy with the other. It was hilarious. So, I've had to break up many fights like you did.
Please be careful about those birds of prey. It's something I've always been concerned about, so I've had a few conversations with online friends and learned that you could be right next to your dog and have a leash on it and a bird of prey will still swoop down and grab it. In my mind I have a fishing net over the area of the yard where they do their business. There are some hawks in the area, but they're too small to pick up my dogs. If I had an eagle nearby, I think I'd go ahead and have a covering of some kind perched over their part of the yard. I think I'd have to be carted away in a straight jacket if my dog were ever snatched up by a BOP.
