Awesome!! This is the way!
Same!
Where did you order it from? How much was it? Please thank you
@@TreyEversmanhey how did you get the acrylic on there? Staple gun?

That’s AMAZINGGGG!!!!
@@TreyEversman I found that one big sheet of white transparent plastic sheet works good for the background
@@Firepistol price?
@TreyEversman ill be honest it's pricey, one roll is $150, but it's 100ft
Just finished making 3 of these panels. WOW it's a lot of work. I bought a roll of Mylar (3ft x 25ft) and lights are going on last. What took me the longest was painting. I wanted no drips, no streaks, no peeling, etc. Had to give it a few coats with some sanding in between as the paint doesn't really stick that well and can be scratched off easily. Finally finished it up with a matte sealer to really protect the paint long term. I'll be posting them up along with some figures in a few days on my Instagram. I'll be selling them at the PlastiCon event in Hollywood, FL at the end of the month. If they don't sell I'll be VERY HAPPY to keep them! - Look me up on IG to see my post soon - And a big THANK YOU to Trey for putting this up. Spent a nice few days with my dad doing everything in the garage.
That's what it's all about..quality time with family building cool stuff!!! Thanks for the comment..that made my day. Glad to hear the build went well and good luck with the sale (but you should really just keep them for yourself lol)!!
This is a stroke of brilliance. Thank you for this quick, easy to follow guide. For a Halloween set up, I am building the interior of a space ship looking out into the stars, and needed to figure out how to make the walls and BAM! Trey to the rescue.

Ok I officially know how I want to do my home studio now! You are so awesome for this! May the force be with you!
Well that isn’t fair..I want a home studio!! 🤣 Thanks for tuning in and may the force be with you!

@@TreyEversmanThanks for sharing your tips. I bought two panels from Wayfair when they were $75, but I have been looking for ideas to build and mount them. How many feet of LED strips do you think you used?
@@antwaynetube I put the link for the led strips I used in the description I would say AT LEAST 75 ft (I didn’t use all of the 100ft) especially if you go around the outside of the frame and in between the holes.
I will be adding more screws at the top and side for my next one..ones in the center top& bottom but the liquid nails is holding up. Hope this helps!
Thanks!
THANKS SO MUCH!!!
I've been waiting to buy this thing, but I didn't know how I was going to build it to look like the movie. Now that I've seen this video, I have ordered my parts. I got lucky and got the panel for 86 bucks.
This is definitely a cheat code! Yeah, the panels went up in price for a time and seem to have come back down. Thanks for tuning in!
Genius!!!!

Thank you for posting this video 🎉. You have a new subscriber. Keep up the great work 🎉. I have a small tool shed. That I’m looking into turning. My very own Space Ship. A Mandalorian bounty hunter ship / Man cave. You are so freaking awesome 😎. Can you do a Floor, or ceiling. With some RGB of course.
I really appreciate that! Oh wow that sounds epic!! 🤘🤜🤛
Definitely going to do this, any tips for how you cut the sheets or can u explain your process with doing that
The sheets aren't cut at all! That's the size it comes. 🙌
That is Cool
Thanks so much!
Hi. I bought a roll of Mylar Stencil Sheet with a thickness of 14 mil to avoid doubling up with the smaller sheets. Also the roll is 3 feet by 25 feet, since I'll be doing a few of these. Hopefully it'll go smooth.
Very nice! You got this..may the force be with you!
Thank you for this video! This is an awesome idea. I’m doing this project right now an so far so good. I’m up to the Mylar sheets step. What was your process for cutting these?
Thank you!! I kinda freehanded it, I would try to cut the sheets to at least cover a couple of holes at a time. Worked out perfectly! Thanks for tuning in!
love this project - i am curious about how you got the leds to turn the tight corners seems like there are alot of them going back and forth between lattice
The led strips are quite flexible and easily bendable. Hope this helps and thanks for tuning in!
I’ve been wanting to do this for a while now, but was always put off by the amount of tools/craftsmanship needed through other tutorials. This is by far the most user friendly and budget friendly guide I’ve come across.
Quick question: Did you use two layers of the Mylar sheets?
Thank you!
That made my day! I appreciate that and appreciate ya tuning in! I did use two layers..you could even do a third but one layer was just not enough for me..you could still see the individual LEDs. Stapled them in and good to go! Cheers!
@@TreyEversman Project Complete! Can't thank you enough for this tutorial. I followed your blueprint for the most part, just making a few tweaks here and there. Most notably, I didn't put any lights along the sides of the back panel and went with a darker paint color (Sherwin Williams' Iron Ore in a flat sheen from their Duration series). I've uploaded a few pictures of my final build below.

Thanks again - you're an inspiration!!!
@@jordanm6700 that IS awesome!! I really appreciate the update..thanks so much!
This is incredible. I'm doing it. Do you think you could install the RGB strips on every other vertical rather than on each one to cut down on materials?
Do itttt! You could but I think your light output or glow would be far less. 🤷♂️
Awesome build! What were the cut lengths for the frame pieces?
In all honesty, I just lined them up with the frame and the made the cuts. Worked perfectly!
I'm building 3 right now. Thank you for the detailed list and directions. I do have 1 question. I'm using the sheets you got from Amazon. Did you duel layer it or single layer it? The video looks like you put a 2nd layer on. Thanks !
That’s amazing!! Thanks for tuning in! I did double up..my apologies if I didn’t mention that. I’d def recommend 2-3 layers. 2 was just fine for me. May The Force Be With You!
What length did you cut the wood too? Did you cut them into exactly 3’ x 6’ segments
Hey there! I measured them up with the sides of the panel. I think the top is like 33 & 5/8 and I fit in the side two pieces after that. Hope this helps!
Hey friend! Could you run by me how many feet of lights you needed to accomplish this? It’s the up and down stripes that worry me, that looks like a hell of a lot of feet to cover.
I used 1.5 boxes and link in the description! Thanks for tuning in!!
This is awesome !! I'm building one right now ! .. Question .. on the Mylar sheets -did you use two layers on each of the hole cut outs or is that just one layer and cut to fit?
Thanks so much! I doubled up but I know some on here are going triple..double was good enough for me! Thanks for tuning in!
What would you suggest for a 9 ft tall wall, since these are only 6 ft tall? They go from ceiling to floor in TDS. Also, you said we need 2 packs of the mylar sheets. It comes in a 10 pk, so is that sufficient or do we need to order two of the 10 packs?
Hmmm I think possibly adding in a top and bottom base adorned with other wall details from the DeathStar would be a nice touch and probably the easiest. Another idea would be to cut 1.5 ft pieces and lining them up with your full piece..(you’d have to cut your full piece so the circles match up) then attach to wooden frame, cover your lines with wood filler, sand, paint and BAM..frankensteined 9footer.
I got 2 packs of Mylar because I wanted to double up on them..your preference!
Great video. I'm going to start mines next weekend. Question on the mylar sheets, Is 10 pack 7.5 mil sheet the ones to used?
Thanks so much for tuning in! I linked the ones I used in the description. I used 2 packs. Good luck on your build! Let me know if you have any other questions!!
@@TreyEversman np. I went to your mylar sheet link to buy, but there's different sheets like 7.5 mil ect ect. Which one is the one to use? Thanks in advance.
Are leds in centre of panel facing the wall? You can see the leds around the perimeter. Would it be better to have these also face the back wall instead of firing sideways?
Personal choice I suppose! I can’t notice them for the most part. 🤷♂️
As shown in the video, I tried aligning the LEDs along the perimeter walls, but I didn't like how the LEDs were visible on the sides, so I removed them and have them facing the wall like the rest of the strips. It worked perfectly just by tucking it around the edges tightly.
Stencils Online sells Mylar rolls. I found a 36” x 10ft roll (14mil thickness being you doubled yours) for $53-ish per roll.
Wonder if this would make the job easier?
Interesting! Let me know how it goes but that sounds like a great option!
Trey, can you do something similar but in the shape of the Death Star 👍
I've got a few projects in the works right now but that sounds awesome! The best thing with this project is you can buy the panel just like that..it's how it comes!
Did you put 2 layers of the mylar on there? I didn't quite follow that part. Great tutorial! I almost just bought some of these panels for $600 and I'm so glad I youtube'd before I pulled the trigger lol
LOL! Well I’m glad ya didnt! 💀🙈 I linked the sheets I used..I used 2 layers and depending on your preference, you could even go another layer. WAYYY more cheaper than $600 for sure! 🙃 Hope this helps and thanks for tuning in!
Ok awesome! Thanks for the reply and I'm excited to get started on this!@@TreyEversman
@@slayaa May the force be with you..🙃
Can you explain how you did the light strips?
Yep! So the string lights I used are in the description. I used about 1.5 wheels in the box. First, I drilled a hole in the side of the bottom for the plug then I started the led strips on the bottom outside..went all the way around the outside frame then started on the panel itself and went up and down in between the holes of the panel. HOPE this made sense! Pretty simple. Let me know if you have any other questions!
Could you add a link to the lattice panel. I’ve been searching but no luck.
Got you! I'll put in it the description..my b!
And if i don't find anymore that garden wall. How can i make step by step the star wars wall? Because i don't know the measurements height lenght and also how big need to be that forms wall from the inside 🤔
I haven't done a custom one but there has to be a tutorial somewhere online! Good luck!
Any problems with the LED’s starting to die out? Was thinking of getting LED panels but this is so much cheaper and more affordable
Not at all! I keep them at least a few hours a day EVERY day. They would be superrr easy to replace if that did happen. I feel like it took YEARS for any to burn out behind my desk and they are constantly on. Hope this helps and thanks for tuning in!
Wow, this is such an amazing idea, Trey! Thank you so much for sharing! What did you use to light it up?
I really appreciate it and thanks for tuning in!! I linked the LED strips that I used in the comments. Thanks again!

Trey, what kind lights and how many rolls? Are they battery powered?
Hey there! I put the link to the LED strips I used in the description. I used 1.5 rolls..they are plug into the outlet and have a remote control for all the different modes. Cheers!
how did you attach rhe mylar sheets? glue? tape? thanks
Staple gun..super quick!!
Won’t the staples from the staple gun go through towards the front when putting the Mylar? Are they shorter than regular ones? I have everything for 3 panels including a roll of Mylar (3x24ft) so it’ll be less tedious. Teeediiioooouuusss.
Hey! I just checked for you..they are the 1/4'' 6mm staples. Hope this helps and good luck!
Did you double up the mylar sheets? It looks like you have 2 layers. Thanks!
I did! I would do 2 if not 3..your preference! Thanks for tuning in!
Why did you cut the mylar sheets with the rounded corners instead of just laying them down in the full rectangle shape?
When I did this, I used the stickum on the LEDs to adhere them down, and the LEDs face backwards. There's very little light shining through. If I turn the LEDs around, They're bright spots. How'd you deal with this?
You can double or triple up or even more on your Mylar sheets depending on your preference. The more sheets the better the light will diffuse and you’ll see less of the bright spots. I doubled up on mine. Hope this helps!
Trey, any suggestions om how to keep the mylar sheets from waving up or down when your stapling them down.. im using heavy duty staples.. could this be the issue?
Have the light strips tape held up still?
Oh for sure! Pretty solid adhesive on the back of these. 👍
How much of the quart did you use to paint this?
Sorry for the late response! I just did the shake test..I would say I used about half!! Thanks for tuning in!

Is the paint semi-gloss, satin or flat? Also, how long are your LED strips?
Hey there! I got the Matte/flat version of that paint. The led strips are linked in the description..the 100 ft ones but you'll have some left over. Hope this helps!

A drill bit?
Just started putting down the Mylar and the staples are bending and not very solid. I was thinking about using some spray can glue instead. Any thoughts?
Interesting! Mine staple gun worked out perfectly! Hmmmm..I can’t say I’d go the spray can method personally (messy, not a lot of control) so if it were me, I’d probably use a hot glue gun and just do dots of hot glue around the openings.
