DIY Package Mailbox / How to Accept a Package Without Touching It

- Made a DIY package mailbox for our online shopping packages to ensure "no contact" deliveries. This project was built during the pandemic to avoid unnecessary COVID exposure and stay safe. Now we can receive packages without touching them! #DIYweekends #Vinchero #VincheroKarpintero #VKBuilds
The following deserve credit, in part, for this build:
My brother, Gerry, who helped me carry the damn thing on to the foundation.
Hettich Group and Veris Int'l Dist. Inc. for the AWESOME 165 degree hinges that give a lot more access to the compartment than standard hinges!
Makita Tools Philippines for the 40v line which made the build so much more enjoyable!
Stanley Black and Decker Philippines and DEWALT for all the tools sent over including that sexy circular saw and jigsaw!
Lotus Tools Philippines for always supporting this page.
Majestic Chemicals Industries for the resin used in this project.
Tejas Inc. for the roofing for this project. Check them out, they do all kinds of roofs!
...and MATIMCO and Nuwood for always being ready to support my build ideas!
As a postman, I can confirm that these are the greatest post boxes you can have. Simply open, drop...done. Much better than most other letterboxes that aren't big enough for parcels or large letters etc
Thank you for sharing this amazing project.
Awesome build 👍
I love the idea and the size of it. PROPER big container so it can fit a few parcels in case you are away for a few days. Brilliant.
What I am not sure about is how safe it is because as it's made of wood. I'd trust it more if it was made of 2-3mm sheet metal. Also, from what I see on the time laps video, some of the screws are accessible. I know that parcel thieves go for the grabs and run and will not spend time to stand there starting unscrewing things, but a box the size of this, is also an invitation for the more "determined" ones 🤣, so I'd replace them with dome headed ones. Anyhow, it's appalling in the first place that people have to take this kind of measures, but since that's how it is, that's a great countermeasure.
This box has a potential security flaw. If you cut that piece of rope/twine, the flap will fall and enable someone to possibly grab packages down below. It looks really nice and would probably work great in a good neighborhood without porch pirates.
@@arillb1010 Good point. It could be replaced with a hinge or something but again it would be matter of time until someone break it. It still think it's one of the best ideas, but it does need some improvement to make it more proof. Like you said, it would work great in a good neighborhood.
It keeps the honest people honest.
great project !! 👏🏽👏🏽
Brilliant Thanks for sharing
This comes def. on my Bucketlist 🙂
Hands up! 🤘🏻💜
Amazing
Nice project sir
Nice design but you'll need more than a piece of string to secure the security floor flap. Otherwise someone can cut the string and just fish out any parcels they want. Suggest you use metal arms on both sides instead 🙂.
A steel cable would work - I noticed that too
Nice sir...
It's a start. But realize anyone with a prybar can get through that 2 way entry design. Not to mention wood can be so easily pried when held together with screws and prying doesn't make much noise. Once there thieves will think it's a gold mine because it was designed to protect so you need to be really careful. They will plan because they think there's a lot in there. You don't need to worry about delivery people stealing so a lockable lid made out of steel would be the best. The key is to find the materials as scrap. So it will be different for each area. It's great people are working on this idea though. New houses will come with parcel delivery system built in as well, especially in frigid areas so things don't get damaged sitting outside in cold temperatures for several hours.
What about heavy things you cant drop like that like ebike lithium batterypacks or smt?
🤩🤩🤩🤩🤩
Where dis you get the kreg tool jig where you drilled the holes
Hi, may build plans ka po available for the upper door system? Or can you tell what it's called?
Dope. How about you build me one now and I'll buy it! 😆 I don't have the tools or time for this but it's the best build I've seen for a fully outdoor one not on the front porch
Also can you buy roofing shingles and siding in that small of amounts? Hmmmmmmm
@@shensley011 in this part of the world, yes you can. Having said that, these are leftovers from a shed I built.
how about getting one Feliluke super large pacakge delivery box? with several simple assembly steps, and then you can get a personal package box for home😆
Hi, what siding product did you use?
Need a video where you try and out a big box in. Will it fit with that angle?
Nice box, but my packages are bigger than that 😂
Amazing idea, but the one question I have is would it work for big box packages?
You'd want to take in consideration how fragile they are and whether you would want them being placed in such a way - but it would only be a matter of expanding length or width, or in even more extreme circumstances digging deep enough to accommodate a similar functioning opening large enough to accommodate it with a steep enough slide and enough room for the package to be placed, pushed, and slid down into an accommodating storage area. You could perhaps go ahead and build a taller structure with steps or a ramp leading up instead.
But at that point, why not just use Ring or the similar services almost every other courier supports; just get yourself a shed with an automatic door strike or smart deadbolt and let it be controlled by the supporting service. It'd actually be cheaper and safer at that point, and the courier would be happier to deliver to your garage/shed floor rather than lift/push/etc with an extravagant contraption such as that.
Can i get dimention of the box ?
Can i have the size drwaing
Love the concept but that location is a big no for my area. No solid structures can be built 36 inches from the nearest edge of the sidewalk as it is a utility right of way for the municipality, communication and utility companies. Also we have sidewalk plows that need more space than a couple of inches clearance.
Kapag nagupit yung tali, accessible na yung laman..
ito din napansin ko eh, panu mahide yung connection sa bottom door.
or another option is ay ang top door ay metal, then use metal chain and weld between top to bottom door.
Amazing! is it possible you can share the size and material list that I can copy your DIY project? haha
I have Sketchup plans for this. Email me at vinchi@vincherokarpintero.com
Hi, nice one. What do you call those things you used for the roofing?
Asphalt shingles.
Anong name under ng asphalt shingles sir Vinch? Yong prang tarp?

@@VincheroKarpintero thank you Sir vince
Is there plans for this? Would love to build one similar.

So just cut the thread holding the drop tray and GG you get free loot... Not a very secure mailbox.
4th comment lodzzzz😁😁😁😁
wag lang pagtripan lagyan ng basura ng kapitbahay
The package box is great, but why is the insert tray pulled up by a string? Why is there even an insert tray? If the insert tray is supposed to make it difficult for thieves to steal packages, then the insert tray should not be pulled up by a simple string but must push from bottom to top.
Actually it's there so that the package slides and drops a lower height. Contrary to many of the comments, it was never really intended to disuade theft. But I do agree that as a security measure/priority, I could have used chain or something.

😄🤣 New edit, old build. This was built March 2021 before I got the Makita track saw.
