If anyone is curious why I didn't mention the new Sultai pair out of C20 it is because they don't have a solid list together yet and still need to "prove themselves". I could make an update to this video if there is a solid list put out sometime in the future...
Ukkima & whatever the partner is (i forget his name cause hes almost useless other than giving you green color identity) food chain is the best food chain deck nowdays. Omnath, locus of creation could take over as the most powerful food chain commander in cedh
Personally I’m building Niv-Chain. Reason is because not only can every card in the deck be good, but also if the green enchantment gets shut down, a 6/6 with *EVASION* feels good to swing with and to continue receiving card advantage off of.
Love this vid. I've been playing legacy Food Chain since Avacyn and been playing EDH Food Chain since Prossh dropped. I can say that exiling a Misthollow Griffin to Force of Will has always felt amazing.
Great content, I'd love to see more like these! One minor quibble, Tazri is a woman, an would be "herself" not "himself". If I could recommend, if you plan on making more of these, you should look for the Discord servers for the deck and ask around there, you might get some good info that's less available by searching. In this case, one aspect worth exploring would have been the role of Tainted Pact and Demonic Consultation, as these have been defining in Food Chain for a while, and in fact is what provided the inspiration for decks like Kess Consult later. What makes Sliver so good is not the twister loops, its the fact that your consult "backup" plan now layers perfectly with your food chain primary plan, meaning you don't have to run slots for both. The above are examples of some things that might have been raised. Also, not sure how long your recording -> publishing lag is, but good boi Ukkima + Cazur was probably deserving of a mention if they'd been spoiled when you recorded. Overall though, I really enjoyed it, you have good style and pacing, keep it up!
1.Ah my apologies, I seemed to miss that. 2. Yeah good point. I did talk to someone about the first sliver food chain just to confirm how the combo works but I glazed over consultation. I thought about making a segment on consultation/pact but I thought that would make the video too long. I didn't really have a handle on the length of it when I wrote the script and I mainly wanted it to be focused around Food Chain itself and the commanders rather than the cards surrounding it. 3. Ukkima/Cazur were spoiled when I wrote/recorded this but I wanted to focus on the more main stream commanders for food chain and as far as I'm aware, there aren't any solid results using those two yet. It could have been something I touched on. Thank you for your feedback. I really appreciate it!
I love this type of video! A card that I think you should do is doomsday. I think it would be pretty interesting because you have kind of 2 evolutions of the card. First, the shell/commander. And second, the doomsday piles.
More videos like this would be amazing! You could even branch out and do essays on other formats, e.g.: History of Tron in Modern or Mono-Red Aggro in Standard (this one would be more like a thesis, ngl)
Food Chain Goblins were BUSTED in Legacy after Onslaught block hit the shelves, introducing Pile Driver, Prospector, Gang-Bang Commander and Warchief. It eventually lead to the banning of Goblin Recruiter which comboed off with Food Chain and Goblin Ring Leader. Food Chain Combo was put to a rest for almost eight years until they printed Misthollow Griffin. Now, after more than 15 years, with Food Chain Combo well and alive in Legacy, i think the Recruiter could get taken off of the ban list.
@@MtgGalaxy Yea, things were wild. You basically needed Food Chain and a Recruiter or Matron to search for it. Then stacked up Ring Leader, Warchief, Warchief, Ring Leader, the rest of the goblins. Each Warchief gives haste and reduces costs, Ring Leaders draw you 10+ cards while providing mana and then you'd attack with lots of hasty beaters. With Mox Diamond or Lackey + Prospector, this was possible on turn two. Extended had a similar version. They dominated around 2002. If your combo was stopped, you still played a quite powerful aggro deck. In Vintage it continued being a viable option for budget players after the bannings in Legacy and Extended for a few years.
Thank you! I will for sure make a video on Ukkima if there is a proven list that comes out. For now I think that it is just worse than the first sliver but hopefully someone proves me wrong
@@MtgGalaxy I consider the Sliver a bit better, but when it comes to sheer speed and lack on RNG Ukkima is fantastic. Also it would be a good budget entry to Food Chain.
You didn't mention ukkima, it's an outlet in of itself and it's probably the best for winning off food chain since you can consult for food chain and probably exile one of the cast from exile creatures n win

Love this video! Thanks for covering my favorite cEDH deck archetype. Please do more videos like this! Subbed.
I appreciate the deep dive into a Cedh card, and wouldn't mind seeing more video essays of Cedh related cards
Best video I've seen from a small channel in a while. Good luck bud.

Great video! I love video essays and some more commander focused video essays (instead of art based ones from Sam) are exactly what I want

Mano, esse é um dos poucos videos bons sobre food chain cEDH on RUclips and is the best 😎👌
Just opened one from “The List”, that’s why I’m here
I think it would be worth to mention cards that tutor into exile. Anyways, great video!
Yeah I was considering that but I wanted to put the focus mostly on Food Chain itself
The Forbidden Tutors should be their own video.
This reminds me of the youtube channel rhystic studies
. Great video make more!
thanks mons! Sam is for sure one of my inspirations. I appreciate it :)
Dude keep it up, you’ve got all of this together.
I have the same laundry basket as the one in your background
Do a deep dive on stax on cedh!

Cazur//ukkima are my favorite food chain commanders

Oh god, I can't even think on how many variations of standard RDW there would be.

Huh, interesting. I didn't know that there was a food chain goblins deck so long ago. Thanks for letting me know about it.
