I truly am glad other giving torkoal the respect he deserves. I know a lot of people online who despise him, but personally I don’t think he’s that bad. I mean he’s not the best fire type Pokémon ever, but he’s more than proven himself to be a worthy Pokémon of Ash’s. I mean sure he can be extremely sensitive at times and the crying gets a little bit overplayed, but he’s definitely a cool turtle Pokémon overall. Thank god the way better Kalos League came after this cause Ash losing to the only person in the Black & White series that was dumber than the already dumbed down BW Ash was just a horrible way for Ash to go out. Especially cause Cameron stupidly brought 5 Pokémon to a full 6 on 6 battle. This was honestly more disrespectful than Ash’s loss to Tobias. I wish Journeys brought back Cameron so Ash could get his revenge. Possibility a battle between Ash’s & Cameron’s Lucario’s. Maybe Ash could show that his Lucario can Mega Evolve and Cameron could possibly surprise Ash by having the Lucarionite to possibly.
A very solid team and I agree with ur reasonings. But if we’re gonna use Ash’s Pokémon who doesn’t get a lotta of attention & Unova Pokémon 1. Pikachu 2. Pignite 3. Scraggy 4. Swellow 5. Torterra 6. Muk (he needs a fight)/Gible/Kingler
I like ur lineup too! Yea it’s a shame Scraggy wasn’t used cuz Ash saw Cameron’s Pokémon prior to the battle so he should’ve used Scraggy. Woulda been great for Muk or Kingler to fight too. Even Gible.
If black and white was actually any good, Ash should’ve won against Cameron, but then lose to Virgil in the next round. I think that would’ve made a lot more sense.
The fact Ash never evolved Pignite, Oshawatt, and Sniffy is weird asf to me. Pikachu, Charizard, Krookodile, Leavany, Gibble, Staraptor Love the alternate team. Are you going to do others?

They just repeated the same mistakes like in Johto (give Ash all three Johto starters and did not fully evolve any one of them. If the stunt failed in Johto, why repeat the same mistake here?!)
What do you think of wartortle overall? Honestly my favourite middle stage Pokémon ever! The whole design is just beautiful I think. With the tail and ears. It just feels like blastoise is from a completely different evolutionary line in some aspects. Would you agree with that too?
I think the Blastoise line is quite cohesive and complete. Wartortle does have an odd tail compared to the other two, but it doesn’t bother me. Wartortle is great and one of the better middle stage starters
I wasnt mad at this battle but heres my version for camerons team Hydreigon Therrathorn Samurott Mandibuzz Seviper Lucario I swapped his swanna for a bulkier flying type and so he wont have 2 water types. And seviper to show off the returning pokemon in bw2 and not too many important trainers own a seviper. Even i wanted to fix this battle. I get people were mad but i didn’t get mad at this series. I actually got more annoyed at journeys then bw.
He could've won with his same team if he'd simply recalled Pignite before they went down to Samurott. He could've beaten a weakened Lucario for sure. But I'll give the full video a watch and see what you come up with!
I would bring Infernape because its not only stronger and faster than both Torkoal and Pignite who fit similar roles - Infernape can also add some serious utility to the team by replacing both Torkoal and Pignite, creating room for another potentially strong Pokemon. As a fire and fighting type, Infernape matches up well against Hydreigon, Ferrothorn and Lucario (and Watchog) and fares well against them in terms of its mobility and agility. Hydreigon and Lucario in particular were the most challenging Pokemon on Cameron's team, so having a strong Pokemon like Infernape to counter them would be a huge help. Torkoal might have defense, but a Pokemon that's highly mobile and agile wouldn't need defense or wouldn't need it as much. I think Pikachu, Infernape and a third Pokemon alone could pull a Roxie (where 3 Pokemon can likely win against 6) in this situation. Donphan is questionable because I don't think Rollout and Take Down will do much damage to Ferrothorn. Ferrothorn has a high defense stat and resists both of those non "STAB" attacks. Additionally, it has spikes. They might hurt Donphan, especially, as it has the Iron Barbs ability. It is also weak against any grass attacks it may have. Although in your defense, Donphan is immune to its Thunderbolt and Ferrothorn as far as I know hasn't been seen to use any grass moves. While it can be argued that Donphan may stand a chance against Swanna due to its speed through Rollout, I think it's still risky for it to be used against one seeing how it is both a water type who can attack with super effective damage and a flying type Pokemon who is capable of both attacking from far away and flying to create distance between it and grounded Pokemon. Donphan might be able to propel itself into the air, but there's only so much distance it can clear with a jump. And relying just on Rollout seems risky too. The whole "pokemon that need a redemption after the sinnoh league" part seems kind of random and oddly specific if this is going to be a best team - team. It doesn't feel like a best team at all with some of these choices, it feels like the focus is more on those redemption Pokemon which I felt like should have been mentioned earlier or even in the title given how many Pokemon on the team were chosen for that reason. So I guess this COULD be the best team, but with these parameters, are there even many other Pokemon to choose from? That being said though, I do like the Swellow pick a lot and remember all of those insane feats it has. It's laughably ridiculous how powerful this Pokemon is. It fares well against Cameron's team minus Ferrothorn as it has both Thunderbolt and would be hard to hit with physical contact given its spikes and Iron Barbs ability. I feel like many of Ash's Pokemon outclass Cameron's, to where I could just list some off the top of my head and know Ash would win with them without considering their moves or type matchup, etc. Pikachu, Infernape, Charizard, Sceptile, Heracross and Snorlax. They might not be the top 6, but they definitely come close. But at the same time, that's a little easy and boring. The fans generally know which of Ash's Pokemon are the strongest already, and to just pick ones according to match ups feels a little tedious. Perhaps another parameter to consider / make it a fun challenge is - What would it have taken for Ash's Unova team to beat Cameron? Would some of the Pokemon need to have evolved? Would some of the Pokemon needed to be in better condition like you mention in the video such as Leavanny and Krookodile? On that note, Leavanny definitely would have helped a ton against the likes of Hydreigon and Samurott
You make many good points. So maybe I could’ve explained the team building better in the beginning, however, Cameron is not the greatest trainer AT ALL. I could’ve easily picked Snorlax, sceptile, Infernape, etc like you mentioned. But where’s the fun in that?? Picking more unique choices like Donphan and Torkoal make the team more interesting imo. Is it the absolute best? No. Pokémon like Charizard and Infernape exist. But this is one of the best teams he could’ve used and it’s certainly better than his Unova Pokémon that he went with. I did mention tho later in the video that really any of Ash’s other Pokémon woulda done better. But again I do understand ur points. I more so wanted to create a unique and creative best team since Cameron isn’t overly strong like Tobias, Lance or Leon when I did those videos.
I adore Tepig so much! Easily my favourite out of the 3 starter Pokémon in the unova region. I love the whole black shadow he has down the bottom. Really makes it looks like he’s wearing wrestling underwear or something like that. I would’ve loved it if it carried over into future evolutions, but it is what it is at the end of the day. I’m surprised Ash’s pignite didn’t evolve further.
Cameron’s riolu probably has the most plot armor ever and why we he use a grass and steel rope against lignite and a water and water flying type against pikachu His team should’ve been Pikachu Krokadile(it knows dragon claw for hydregon and Areial ace for Lucario) Levanny Pignite for hydregon and ferrothorn and Lucario Boldore (for Swannas who’s weak to rock types and rock smash for watch hog) Palpatoad(to deal with Lucario and ferrothorn)
In a lot of aspects, there are parts of me that like the black and white series more than journeys. Particularly those early episodes when there was no proper storyline and it wasn’t until about 50 episodes in when Ash’s goal became clear. At least with the black and white series, there was a clear direction that things were heading towards. You know what I mean? But the masters eight tournament was amazing overall I thought. I love both Ash vs Cynthia and Ash vs Leon for different reasons.
Both of those full battles in the Masters 8 were great! But i get whatcha mean tho. Personally I feel BW and JN are the same in terms of quality. BW had clear direction from the start while JN struggled with direction. But the tail end of BW is 90% filler aside from introducing Alexa and transitioning to XY. But JN is largely filler in the start and too episodic.

Ash vs Stephan was easily the best thing about the unova league conference. I absolutely loved every minute of that battle! Stephan was the best rival in the black and white series. He should’ve been the main rival instead of Paul 2.0. Oops! I mean Trip, sorry.

Honestly? I think this is the perfect team to go up against Cameron, and an excellent show of redemption for some of Ash’s Pokémon that we love, but didn’t get as much battling highlights/triumphs! Can I also just say how refreshing/satisfying seeing Torterra and Torkoal shown more love? A character’s defeats shouldn’t solely define a person’s views of the overall character. I usually hate comparing actual people with other people, but some people judge a character or person solely by accomplishments (or lack thereof) alone. But you’re different! You actually give everyone their fair dues, and show love and appreciation towards characters and Pokémon for what you actually see beyond just winning or losing. Great video as always! Always love hearing your thoughts, ideas, analysis, and passion for Pokémon!

Well it’s all about how you use the different moves with the Pokémon. Ash had two ground types in Sinnoh & Unova. He had 3 flying types in Kalos.
