Just a question: how do you say, for example, the year 1600? Do you say ''sixteen and zero-zero'' maybe? sometimes I get confused with it. Regards c:

For 2020 and after is it ok to still use the "2000 and X" method or do we all have to say stuff like "Twenty Twenty" etc?

Hi, Is the year 1908 considered "early 1900s" or "Late 1900s"? and is there a difference between saying 1900s or 1900's (with apostrophe)?

    hi there
    is it right to say
    "Twenty hundred" for 2000

    ...and so on.. ??

How do you pronounce these 2 sentences:
In the year 1918, strange animals were discovered.
In the year 19, 18 strange animals were discored.

Thank you so much for your lesson!!! But how can I say about next years: 801; 986; 2100; 2105?

      Thanks for commenting Yuri.
There are alternatives for the dates you have written here. I would say: in the year eight-hundred and one; the year nine-hundred and eighty-six; two-thousand one hundred (but many will say twenty-one hundred I think); and lastly, twenty-one o-five. All the best for your English!

Tesol Rich English Wrong! 801 is Eight Oh One with no hundred in it, 986 is Nine Eighty Six with no hundred in it, and 2100 is just Twenty One Hundred with no Two Thousand in it

Is it ok to use Two Thousand and X instead of Twenty up until 2019 and then switch over to Twenty Twenty in 2020 because I'm thinking of doing it that way now

In the future I think will start to hear years in the 00's pronounced as twenty for example twenty oh five for 2005.

As a Spanish speaker, we say the whole number in our language. The way I pronounce the years in English is two-thousand-(x), two thousand twenty for example. Until we reach the year 2100, I'm gonna divide the numbers. But I'll be 95 by then. I won't live for that long 😂

How do you shorten 2014 (years that don’t have the 0 in front of it they also aren’t twenties or 36 you know? Feels weird saying just 15 feel like you gotta say the whole 2015 or maybe say one five as aposed to 95 when ever someone says “they had that *back in 95* “ rolls of the tongue better than *14*
    Examples:
“You’re just waking up, the year is 3804, they... blew up earth, *back in 19* the aliens took over”
*in 19* just doesn’t sound right, unless I’m wrong that’s why I’m asking lol lmk!

2014 was ok to say either "Twenty Fourteen" or "Two Thousand And Fourteen" as we were at the start of the decade but now it's 2017 and we only say "Twenty Seventeen" as we are now further away from the 00s and it goes well with the past because you don't say 1017 as "One Thousand and Seventeen" it's "Ten Seventeen"

People in the uk say the Two Thousand and X years the American way like for example 2005 said as Two Thousand Five without the "and" in it because they think it's shorter and cooler to say it that way but I think it makes us all sound stupid and American
