    One of the very important aspects of Kanban board is Work in Progress (WIP) Value. this should have been included in this video.

    This isn't a Kanban board. This is just a really cool scheduling board. A Kanban board would pull material based on customer demand and create trigger points for reordering. This is a reactive board.

      Nelson Rocha no. sorry you are incorrect. It might not be very detailed but it is still one.

      +Brandon Moore no sorry you are incorrect. This is not kanban as kanban requires a pull system. These stickies are being pushed along not being pulled by any process.

      Nelson Rocha that is also one of kinda form of Kanban. According the definition, it also explains that Kanban is “signal”. For instance, the indicator gasoline in car shows the the time when will the fuel be empty...

    there has to be a pulling force for it to be a kanban system, if the idea is for this to resemble how kanban works in a manufacturing setting. For example if your office capacity is 3 stories, then have 3 'capacity' cards in your to-do, WIP, and completed areas. when a story is 'pulled' for work due to free capacity, then stick it onto one of the capacity cards and move it to the to-do or WIP column and move it along per its workflow. When you move it to the completed column, remove the story from the capacity card, leave the story in the completed column and place the capacity card in the to-do column. Now you can 'pull' another story from the backlog by sticking it to the capacity card and entering it into the system. Without this pulling effect from downstream processes (when I finish one, I start another) it doesn't constitute a kanban, you're just poorly borrowing a technical term from a different field for a buzzword effect. The board in this video has nothing to do with kanban systems developed by Toyota

      @102ew 6 лет назад +1

      No need to be snarky. The kanban board does indeed pull, it just doesn't use a card like you might be used to in manufacturing. This video shows how the manufacturing metaphor gets converted into a board for software development; I think it might be helpful for you: ruclips.net/video/5izyN66PTxs/видео.html

    Why do you use tape on Post-its? :)

    • @GreenJimll
      @GreenJimll 8 лет назад +1

      If its anything like the post-its on our Kanban wall, its so you don't come into work in the morning to discover a little pile of random post-its on the floor. Guess the stage from the task description is always fun (helped by having a Google Doc spreadsheet tracking what we've done each day when we "walk the wall").

    • @willwyatt7023

      Using the Super Sticky Post Its will obviate this problem, especially if you use the ones that are fully adhesive; almost all adhesive on the backs.

      Will Wyatt Smart Cookie ;) Other than using Trello or any other online platform, SmartSheet & Bitrix24 are far better options. Bitrix24 is FREE for up to 12 users. Eat that Trello. Over functionality & options of viewing types, SmartSheet is #1, then Bitrix24 a close 2nd.

    that is not a kanban board. A kanban board have two coluns in each big one, have a backlog, a breakdown, a execute, a evaluate, and finish
    and a hold

    • @Construx
      @Construx  Год назад

      Close! The board should at least have a place to the put the WIP limit. The parts you mention are a good add. Also, kanban as a process should have policies that govern how you move between the states you mention.
