This was a tribute to one of Pakistan’s most celebrated songs called Aadat by Atif Aslam which propelled him to stardom. A song every young Pakistani is familiar with. Lots of cultural significance here. This instrumental is absolutely beautiful
When the sitar started followed by the flute note...it instantly brought tear to my eyes...was a Bangladeshi teen back then when Jaal burst into the scene with two of the greatest alternative rock songs ever not only in the subcontinent but the world...amazing cover of Aadat... can't believe am close to 40 now... times just bullets by! Am still in tears of nostalgia...Jaal is Legendary
"JAL" was a band mainly "Atif Aslam, Gohar mumtaz(guy who sang in last) , Farhan saeed)... the melody/instrumental version was from their first song AADAT which got fame like a fire in South asian subcontinent... they became popular specially Atif but unfortunately these guys parted ways... but this song remained nostalgic and the iconic song... :) edit: "har jaga hai JAL means everywhere is JAL(the band), giving tribute to their iconic song and Band"
This song is THE song of a generation...i grew up with this song and it still gives me goosebumps and this instrumental version was just phenomenol...i remember when JAL came to play in my college festival in India and when they played this song, whole college went mad
Hey Jim, got to catch your twitch stream, also that string instrument is a Rubab at 2:50 and Sarangi at 3:11 also give Jillawatan from Pepsi battle of the bands a shot.
It's always takes me to my 2002 while listening to this song on repeat on my desktop with (Audiojet) player the whole night.... oh, GOD... those days....
The song Aadat was a pop culture phenomenon. It was to southasian and pakistani music what 'bring me to life by evanessence' and ''in the end by linkin park' were to american music in the early 2000's. It was number 1 undefeated for 3 consecutive years on the pop music charts.
This is thr real music we live for. It takes you on a journey. This song is first love of Everyone in the respective era, infact still nothing tops this song for me❤
The orignal song was sung by Atif Aslam. He was part of the band JAL. Gohar Mumtaz, Shazi, and Atif were a band. Then they split and atif went solo. Orignal Jal was just together for one song but it was epic. Later Jal was continues without Atif but taking in Farhan Saeed.
Rubab is the name of that instrument which you were curious about and assuming it as Benjo. It's a very popular instrument of the KPK province of Pakistan.
The First one is called *Rabab/Rubab* its a traditional instrument of Afghanistan and Pakistan mainly used in Pashtu music, The Second one is called *Sarangi* this instrument is dying but now Pakistani pop music started to use in.
It was revolutionary n iconic pop songs in late 90s and was duper hit world wide specially in Asia..sung by Atif Aslam originally part of Jal the Band. Atif Aslam is most listened iconic singer of subcontinent right now

What he sang towards the end are not the original lyrics. But yeah Gihar and Atif created Jal the band and composed Aadat as their first song. Do listen to Atif's aadat.
Hey Jim, Just to give you some background. Its mashup of two different songs. Fist part instrumental part (before the singer comes) is for Song Aadat. Original song was released in 2004 and was sung by Atig Aslam. At that time Atif Aslam was part of this band named "Jal" along with Gohar mumtaz(guy who sang in last) , Farhan saeed.
