While the show took out Alicent as the helpless witness and the Heleana’s choice aspect, that sound design of their daggers scraping bone as they hacked the boy’s head off was brutal. I had to hug my 4 year old and my dogs afterwards. They started this when Otto decided, against Viserys' wishes, to name his grandson a King. None of it would have happened if they all had stuck to the original plan (of Raenyra becoming Queen). Raenyra wouldn't have killed her own half brothers as kinslaying wasn't viewed well in those times. But they butchered themselves, with only two Targaryens barely escaping.
