Hey guys, A quick note on what “iconic” means in this case - it doesn’t necessarily mean he’s the best Syndra in the world, rather that he’s very famous for the pick (just as you’d pair Xpeke with Kassadin). This piece is exploring just how that Bjerg/Syndra association came to be
So happy you guys posted this, the comments I've seen saying "The title is wrong, he's not the best" is just annoying. I think he is up there as one of the best though..
When I saw his penta for the Wolves you just knew this was going to be a special pick for this guy, and he has proven that his Syndra is one of the worlds best. His consistency on the champ is what stands out for me, it's so insane
I don't get why people are so salty in the comments? It's obvious you don't like Bjerg but statically he has everything to back up his Syndra play. Not to mention, people need to understand that "iconic" means to be representative of something... I can't think of a single pro player who has a more iconic Syndra than Bjergsen.
I wouldn't say awkward, it's as good as any video that talks about these type of things, the type of top content blitz puts out. I think it's just different how it's like he died and they put this sad music video to remember him lol. But yeah, they collabed with Michael Kelly so that might be the reason.
I actually played Syndra back when I was like less than level 10. At that time obviously I sucked, since she was like one of the hardest champ at that time, so I stopped playing her. Then,I started picking up Syndra againcause of Bjergsen. I watched his games as Syndra back in like Season 3/4 was it? and damn I fell in love with the way he plays her. Like no doubt,he may not be the best but his Syndra is indeed Iconic. I got highest winrate for my top 3 champions and 2nd most games. Love her. and Love Bjergsen!
Yo i totally agree with you guys but you forgot to mention one of the most important moments in bjergsen/syndra story is when he discovered a new way to perform the q/e stun combo with every one thought it was a bug but when he contacted riot they revealed that it was intanded feature and he was the first ever to discover it and amaze the world with it.
I started playing league in season 5 after my friends were showing me how insane soren was. And how hot syndra was. I was garbo like mad but I pushed and got out of silver. Sadly I don't know what's with me but I can't enjoy playing the same champ so much. I got gold wiuth ww and khaz ix started to suck so I just stick in silver now lol. But I will always have a special place for my bby
I guess I always knew Bjerg's Syndra was nasty but I never realized it was this dominant. To play as long as he has and boast a record that consistent and that impressive both domestically and abroad is pretty remarkable. Fwiw tho, I still enjoyed watching his Azir more, when that was meta.
bjergsen hard carries his team almost every game the team needs to step up if they want to go further its a team game faker got to win worlds soo many times not just cause of his individual skill but cause his team played around him gave him resources to carry and when faker couldnt his team stepped up
So, I've been wondering... I watch a lot of your videos. I am also the user of your "Blitz Engine" (By the way, great work on the engine guys!), and I've been wondering, how do you get money? I rarely see any advertisements on your videos, and your Engine is completely free to use too, so how do you get money? To my understanding, programming something of that scale takes quite a lot of rescources.
Bjerg may be hella good on syndra but the pick is not nearly as iconic as froggen's anivia. Name another pro player who plays that champ anywhere near his level. He basically owns aniv.
@@ジョンマーティン I just think it's wierd timing for the video since it's not nearly the most iconic champion/player pair and he hasn't done anything particularly impressive on syndra recently.
@@ethanbost3 it's not weird timing since the playoffs are coming and TSM are still on it. Blitz definitely knows that TSM still has a lot of fans so this video makes a lot of sense
I don't understand why Bjergsen gets so much hate. He was only a top 5 EU mid when he went to the retirement league. It's unfair to expect his performance not to tank after leaving a competitive environment at such an early age.
Cool series idea but i mightve started with something a little more recognized, like Froggen's annivia, Fakers zed, rekkles'tristana, or even POE on ori or his own syndra who I'd argue to be more iconic.
faker is good at everything but faker has a champion ocean and he does not like to 1 trick/ become the most iconic in a single champion bc he wants to play every single champion possible in mid lane and become the best in the role and despite under performing this year he is still the best player in the world.
i agree that faker has the most iconic zed in the world but you have to understand that my point is korean and wester teams are so different and im specifically talking about the coaches in korea you have to play the champion that your coach tells you to play in NA the coach is 2nd to the player. the player can decide what he wants to play in that specific game ergo bjerg played allot of syndra in pro play and eventually became the most iconic player in that champion "still debatable if its NA's or world's tho" unlike faker where he plays what koma things is the most efficient and best for the team comp. you get my point now ? in my view if faker was playing with a wester type coach for his entire career i believe that he could have been the most iconic player in multiple champion bc he can pick what he wants to play just like bjerg and other western pros.
Dude Bjergsens champion pool is also massive. Its just that Syndra is his comfort pick. Plus at worlds teams ban Syndra vs Bjerg. Plus Faker lost to Bjerg 1v1 on All Stars and to many others. Faker is not the best mechanical player. He even lost to a support in a 1v1. You have to understand the professional league of legends is not the same as before ,players are on the same skill level now, more or less. Riot has turn the game into a TEAM oriented game. Its very rare to see someone hard carry 1v9 these days. Its mostly teamsfights.
Braxx lol ok..you really take " all star seriously " ? coming we all know the game 1st is 5v5..where faker is much better..he can guess where ennemy jungle is in lane etc..faker is a beast..dont compare him to a supp 1v1 :)
Yes yes I know what iconic means: like when you mention Bjerg you think of his Syndra plays, I get it and agree with it. But the part "World's Most Iconic Syndra" made me feel weird. Like you mean in the West?
lol SKT T1 Syndra though for faker... just because you win worlds and you get to choose which champ you want your skin on now, doesn't mean it's your iconic pick. For example, in no way shape or form would I associate Haru for playing Ezreal, when his Rengar is basically his go to, etc.
The point of the video is that Soren' s Syndra become iconic because he playing very good on her?! I expect some in depth look on runes/mechanics/moves or something like that. :/
Syn Sin Not performed better...just a champ they played. Looper played Singed once at worlds and got a skin for him, they mean basically nothing Edit: He played him twice, and went 1-1...point is he played maokai and went 4-0 and didn't get one. If based off being iconic, then we would have SSG Viktor. Just a champ they played in the tourney
Uh... he's not... Faker popularized Syndra... as so many other champs. People so fucking desperately trying to rob him of his credit. Bjergsen... pff nothing iconic about him. He's maybe iconic for feeding Trundle in the jungle in soloQ as a 1 item Zed back in the day... and then saying on stream he doesn't know what one of the most fundamental jungle champs does... What a pro!

So happy you guys posted this, the comments I've seen saying "The title is wrong, he's not the best" is just annoying. I think he is up there as one of the best though..
+Rommel Puyaoan, again you're missing the point of what 'Iconic' means.
PoE :V
Rookie probably has more
Hey, i am Syndra known for being the dark sovereign and my pocket pick is Bjergsen
"Where the champion has it's own signature player." Love that on a significant level.
new video in one year: How Bjergsen Became the World's Most Iconic Akali
Felix Akali has high pickrate.
Syndra didn’t at that time.
nah 100% ban rate got something to say about that.
Turns out her ult was bugged and dealt more than double damage during that game lol
There is no taking Akali from tfblade
Fxlix Sixk world’s most iconic Zilean
When I saw his penta for the Wolves you just knew this was going to be a special pick for this guy, and he has proven that his Syndra is one of the worlds best. His consistency on the champ is what stands out for me, it's so insane
The most we gotta give Bjergsen is that years go by, but his consistency - unwavering...
Consistently failing at worlds? XD
Deficio giving Bjerg his first ever professional pentakill. :')
It’s always an honor to watch bjergsen play especially his Syndra ❤️👍🏽 thanks for this video

ScytheLxrd Couldn't have said it any better :)
Whats with Poe he played Syndra even before she was a Meta Champ
Maple is the most iconic
You understand that you can't compare stats from NA to KR/CN stats, dont u?
@@djv1ferus467 lol, Bjergsen played Syndra and got a pentakill in LCS before PoE was even in academy.
The video's transitions and overall tempo feels so awkward, very unusual for a Blitz eSports vid
its like sad, as if bjergsen died from cancer three years ago and this is to commemorate him... but like hes still alive and still good
I wouldn't say awkward, it's as good as any video that talks about these type of things, the type of top content blitz puts out. I think it's just different how it's like he died and they put this sad music video to remember him lol. But yeah, they collabed with Michael Kelly so that might be the reason.
Yea I was just thinking that. The tone is just off, super low tempo almost like he's retiring or something lol.
I came here to comment this.. The clips didn't go together or flow well at all
The music sets a solemn tone, which is totally at odds with the celebratory nature of the topic
Inb4 all the people who don’t understand what the word “iconic” means complain about why it isn’t a Korean.
Leonlx yeah and I’m outb4 too lmao

he is best syndra in pro play for sure
I wish they had shown clips when he dumpstered Crown in Korea, or when he stunned Svenskeren khazix out of stealth multiple times. Both crazy games.
Love the video, but woulda been nice to hear from Bjerg himself.

Fwiw tho, I still enjoyed watching his Azir more, when that was meta.
Personally hate to see him play azir, he plays with no agency in the game ever
how do you not ad the 2016 worlds stun he did over baron pit? that was sooo clutch against SSG. that was a huge win for TSM too.
idk what everyone else is saying, I loved the vid thought it was really interesting
Didn't know that
noob
faker with zed gave me goosebumps
4:34 Bjergsen casually playing 1v5 as yasuo xD (Look closely at the score board when he pressed tab)
the ending was epic
Why does the microphone quality sound so bad between 4:50 - 5:30? it hurt my ears to listen to
Need a pop filter for that 2:00 dialogue. Holy
wait, how about his LeBlanc and Zed??
I knew him due to these two champs
I'd say Zed, Anivia and Thresh are also champions with signaure players ( Faker, Froggen and Madlife respectively )
I can see why syndra statistically, but can we talk about his lb
When i think Syndra i think PowerOfEvil. When i think of my boi bjerg back in EU it was his Zed.
He must recover his epicness
huh. never even heard bjergsen having syndra as his iconic pick
To be fair, its the same with Anivia's Froggen
the player didnt choose the champion, the champion choose the player.
Na's most iconic syndra just enough to get them to groups but not enough to get them out
yikers
well after all league is a team game.. and when his team lets him down he can't do much to help them
bjergsen hard carries his team almost every game the team needs to step up if they want to go further its a team game faker got to win worlds soo many times not just cause of his individual skill but cause his team played around him gave him resources to carry and when faker couldnt his team stepped up
