As a professional drywall hanger for many years most sheets were initially nailed up then we would follow up and 'screw off' the field screws later. And we would always be aware of what would make the tapers job easier as we made hanging decisions i.e. direction of sheets, spanning rim joists etc. (oh yeah, and staggering butt joints). The good news is almost anything can be fixed with drywall mud. Maybe a little more mud, but it can all be made to look fine, by a professional. But I kinda want Trent to try and tape the drywall for sheer entertainment value and wish you all the best no matter.

When I built our house in North Carolina. The drywall hangers put adhesive on every stud. So they didn't need so many screws.

Yeah, I just checked in to see if anyone else would say something about the butt joints. My wife told me not to say anything. 😉 I wonder if Trent knows to put the T&G on the ceilings first also. 🤔

😬The more I read people’s comments makes me realize how difficult dry wall really is. We refinished our fireplace and had to do a small amount of drywall repair. It ended up being a lot harder than I thought it would be.

Make sure to sign your names or leave a note inside the wall somewhere before it's all closed up! That way you'll always be a part of it and it's history.

A word of advice. I just finished drywalling, taping and mudding my own house. Use fewer screws, you're going to kick yourself later. Also if any screws didn't hit a stud, remove them or they will start backing out in a few months and mess up your finish work.

We got her from a terrible home at 6 weeks of age , she was like a mini Lassie - covered in fleas and she ended up having 11 yrs of the best care possible .She gave us a lot of fun and laughter over those years .A big hole left in our lives now .

You guys are doing a great job! I suggest a good quality respirator dust mask, for working with dry wall. You're really going to need it especially when you get to the sanding part of it. Good quality masks for Trent and Allie and Brandon and anyone else who might be breathing in the dust. Home depot usually has them in stock. You can find them in hardware or in the dry wall aisle.

Code varies; 6” on the edge and 8” in the field in my state. More screws, less vibration, less cracking and warping. Mud over screws is a breeze; at the joints they are buried in the bevel and covered with tape, especially at butt joints. Never skimp on screws. In my county, you can’t even mud until you’ve had a screw inspection.

I helped drywall our living room addition when I was 12. It was me and my Moms job to hold the drywall while my Dad screwed it in. We also sat on ladders and held the drywall against the ceiling while he screwed it in. Since I was much shorter than my Mom I had to balance it on my head while on a ladder to get it up to the ceiling. If I can do that at 12 you and Brandon can muscle it up! Good luck!

I’ve never seen anything like it - it was a team of, maybe 12 guys - they had the whole house drywalled in like 1.5 hours - high ceilings (vaulted), they moved through so quickly - they taped and mudded just as fast.

You can use the wood to help hold the drywall up while you screw it in - rotate the wood out of the way - put the drywall in place - rotate the wood to hold the drywall - screw the drywall into place - remove the wood. I saw them use this trick on some other build videos.

There's a baby coming!!!! Hire a drywall crew to mud, tape and sand. They can do it in a couple days. You three should go to the spa! God bless!

Are you paying for it? And where would they get a crew during the construction season? If you listen to what they are saying in the videos they have already addressed all this.

Lack of early step by step planning has plagued this build from the beginning. It's all developed in Trent's head as they go along. Fortunately, for the most part, Trent has a good brain in his head. In addition, the pandemic really complicated so many things.

I can tell you the boys are doing an excellent job for never building a house before I wouldn’t be able to do it but I guess I wouldn’t know unless I tried I think you guys will appreciate this house so much more that you did it yourself all the hard work and sweat that went into it

Trent you're overkilling on the drywall screws. Putting a screw every 6 inches is overkill. Plus where are your dust masks?

In 1973 my Wife and I had an Afgan Wolfhound. We would leave her loose in the house. She would get upset when we were gone and would crap on the floor under the center of the bed. How that big dog could get under the bed and poop is beyond me. Perhaps your crate problem will get better. It is fun following your progress on the house. Best Wiishes.
