    The only thumbs down for these videos are those people who will probably never purchase a CNC machine and/or call it cheating because we're using machines instead of hand carving it with a knife. Subscribed.

    I'm thinking of getting a Nomad 3D and I ran across this video. This is the first one I watched and instantly subscribed. A well done video with all the info I need to compliment this purchase. Thank You and I can't wait to watch the rest.

    A must have tool for me is a sharp chisel to remove the tabs from parts that I've profiled. It saves me so much time.

    Great job!!!! I’ve been using my ShapeOko XXL for more than 4 years and love all the 2D & 3D features that is available. I purchased the Vectric Desktop software and though it’s a entry level software for me just getting started and even now I’ve rarely wanted for more than what came with this software. One thing I wish folks would include is the name of the font they are using. There are hundreds of fonts and trying to find a nice V-Carve font is mind numbing.
    Hopefully your channel will spread and people will realize the important aspects of subscribing.
    Good luck

    As I'm getting deeper into the hole of RUclips videos surrounding getting my first CNC machine, this is just what I needed to watch. Great breakdown of what items to consider, thanks for putting this together. I think Shapeoko is about to have a new customer ;)

    Thank you, planning to purchase a Shapeoko XXL soon. I would love to see a video of you cutting a sign all the way from the planning stage, through each step of software, to the work hiding and cutting process.

      It’s something I’m planning on. I need the right project to come along but I’d like to do a start to finish tutorial that includes any troubleshooting as well. Next video is on software and I have a few more carbide create tutorials planned after that. I may turn one of those into a full project video.

    I bought my Shapeoko about 1 1/2 years ago - where were you? Great advise! Thing I regret, bought too many bits starting out. Buy the three you mentioned and buy good quality. Either from Carbide 3D or Whiteside. Also find someone in your community who sharpens the bits. Hard to find, seek them out. I cut mostly hardwood and you need sharp bits. Thing not covered. Check out your electrical supply, you need a clean circuit with good grounding. I had alot of ghost problems starting out and it was sharing a circuit with a freezer! Suckit Dust Boot is the way to go, my Shapeoko is in my shop office next to my desk, not problems. Thanks and Cheers

    Thanks for the video. I could have guessed a lot of these things, but now I don't have to; and Im more informed from someone with experience. Unfortunately your request for other CnC'ers to comment what they wish they DIDN'T buy may go unanswered, because they're probably not watching this kind of stuff.

      Indeed, the video has been popular but that question, which I'd hoped would spark some discussion to help people avoid some purchases, less so. I probably should have put it at the front of the video.

    Don't spend a fortune on double-sided tape, use masking tape on the stock with a second matching piece on your wasteboard, then use superglue and an accelerator if you just can't wait for the glue to dry, this is much stronger and much much easier to remove upon completion of your carve.

    • @see-n-c6606
      @see-n-c6606  4 года назад +1

      Absolutely. They may cost slightly more in some cases but yes the collet only needs to match the shank.

    Planning on purchase one of this. Is this cnc light duty, heavy or medium. Any complains about anything?

    • @see-n-c6606
      @see-n-c6606  5 лет назад +1

      Obviously a little subjective but I’d say medium hobby. There’s a lot of acrylic/plastic/mdf engraving machines which I’d consider light duty, and it’s much better than those. I’d say for the price you’ll have trouble finding a better machine. If you want to drop $5000-10000 on a machine you’ll obviously have far more options.

    Seriously, I am sick of people stating the obvious wit safety, you mentioned glasses, why not mention hearing protection or dont stick your fingers near the working cutter, do we need to wear safety boots or gloves so we dont get blisters?

    • @see-n-c6606
      @see-n-c6606  5 лет назад +4

      I’d actually recommend wearing safety boots on your hands for maximum protection.

    • @darkandus
      @darkandus 5 лет назад

      This was a video on "what to BUY" not a safety video. At least mentioning it gets people thinking about it. And he definitely mentioned hearing protection, so obviously you weren't paying attention to more than one thing - Not Safe.
