I don't compare. The rehearsal version is also very good, of course. In particular I like the moment when Annie breaks the block and lets her voice fly, followed by exchange of smiles between Brian and David, as in "that's it, we can hit onstage with that".
Now wgat do you base that on? For a song made by both Queen and Bowie with some creative differences. I know we are all used to hear Freddie sing this but thats not the only base line for comparison. I love this song and Freddies performance. But this version honestly hits me harder, this is not only the song this is the tribute to Freddie, this are his fans there and friends and collegues who pays tribute to their lost friend, that in my mind fills this with more emotion then a studie recording of Freddie singing it.
Although anni lennox is a great singer but in this song she is struggling to sing like Freddie Mercury, it shows its not easy to sing Freddie Mercury's songs..
