Hey Shawn, I bought a 4 lb chicken yesterday from my local farmers market here in the high country of North Carolina. The seller and I chatted and your youtube channel when it came up during our conversations about self reliance. He said your work ethic and videos inspired him to tackle a lot of the projects on his personal farm. It's amazing the impact you've had on people. Just thought I'd share. Gonna finish roasting this chicken and watch the rest of this week's episode. Cheers.
I am always amazed to see how many times you move the camera to give us a variety of viewing angles. It feels like watching a multi-camera production. Well shot, well edited, excellent continuity. Your videos are a joy to watch
I'm guessing he's invested in several cameras by now, so he has the ability to save time. These great videos would pay for themselves, be well worth it. He's a wise man so seems like something he'd do.
I am glad to see you're closing the cabin in before harsh winter weather sets in and makes work more difficult. That's a nice spud haul, but you might want to consider potato towers next year. Higher yields and and less space used. Plus it's easier on your back. You are an inspiration to all of us wannabees.
I was about to say the same thing. He is just about ready for weather. I'm amazed at what all this man does on his own. It's good to see Emily helping her dad and learning with some of the smaller projects too.
What is incredible with him is that all those years passed, what 5-6 years of manual heavy work, Shawn did not bulk up unlike drilling/rig floor hands after 4-5 years they bulk up.
I have to tell you Shawn, so far, I’m absolutely loving the larger windows in this cabin. And your breezeway was such a smart, practical and attractive addition!
Truly a thrill watching your dream cabin progressing closer to a finished, livable state! Your ability to get this done as a one man team is truly astounding!! Great progress sir!

You are the Master Cabin Builder. Every detail thought out and built to a standard that most of us out here watching can only dream of or watch some one like you build it. Cabin looks beautiful as did your last one. This one is a pure masterpiece. I loved your last one with the outdoor kitchen and oven as well. Thank you once again for sharing your world.
My log home was made from 12" White Pine logs. All my vertical support logs inside and out were set up with the jack bolts like you have. My logs settled 4"-5" in the first 5 years. After that hardly any settling. When i would let the jack bolts down there was lots of cracking sounds from the settling. I built my log home back in 1998. To this day my log joints are mostly all tight! I heat 100% with wood. My home is 32x40 with a open style and a loft. It heats easily with a Soap Stone wood stove in temps down to zero. Then i fire up my outdoor wood boiler and run that until spring. I still burn the Soap Stone stove as i love viewing the fire! Your cabin is looking fantastic. Im anxious to see the finishing touches. Cali is looking great as well. I was wondering if youve ever taken her Pheasant or Grouse hunting? She looks so birdy when she's hunting up her dummy! I thinking she would do well on the Grouse and Pheasants!
Shawn mentions about the settling on his other channel, Shawn James. Not sure if I can post a link but the video ID is: 0QjF-kXgj3Q and the video is titled: "Why and how I am installing posts and beams on the log cabin porch" (upload date: September 9 2022). Yep, getting the cabin ready in big strides these days. That meal with Kim Chee looked pretty tasty. I imagine Kim Chee is good for stomach flora and fauna...haha! That was a good potatoe harvest....almost ready for cold weather. Cali looks healthy! Glad you guys are doing well! I bet this particular cabin will weather the winter well!
Your cabin is really starting to take shape nicely now, good to see you have it weatherproofed. I love how Cali follows you around with her toy, but instinctively knows when to back off when your too busy. She is one beautiful dog.
Everything about this video was making me want to watch more. From you closing the cabin in, the windows, pulling potatoes, setting the stone and wood stove, but what really blew me away was when you put the logs in on the overhang and deck. It hurt my back just watching you. Wow, I can't imagine the gratification. The bow and arrow, celebratory. Thank you Shawn for sharing your journey with us, I'm amazed everytime of the beauty that surrounds the cabin.
What a beautiful prize you've gotten from all the hard work you've done alone. A wonderful cabin in the woods. Congratulations, love it. Have a great and blessed day. Take care.
It’s a good thing you have Utube. It would be a shame to accomplish so much without a large number of people watching and appreciating. Good work 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
You Sir are a inspiration for me everyday and always looking forward to seeing your next episode. Wish I was 20 years younger. Stay healthy and safe. Hug Kali for me. Love her
It seems like red is becoming your signature color. From the red canoe to the little red kettle. . I love to see the canoe peeking out in a scene. It’s very artistic.
If you can harness the energy in Cali's tail wagging you would not need any solar power. She is living the best life ever. Your cabin is the best one ever. Step by step and enjoying the process along the way.
Always in awe watching you work. What another beautiful cabin home you have built as well as a forest garden and greenhouse! You are a monster builder!

It's what makes you both a student & teacher. What an AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENT Shawn & well worth the effort. ♥ 🇨🇦

This is a beautiful cabin .have a blessed day
Amazing Shawn. I really enjoy watching how you attack each task. As I said before, there is a lot of intelligent thought that goes into each thing you do there. Really inspiring. Thanks for letting me "hide and watch!!"
Thank you , Shawn .

Leading a Life that truly suits one is an essential part of truly following a path that is productive and fulfilling. Others are enjoying being on that path with you, Shawn.
Fast becoming a home. :)
You really did a good job, I can’t believe how tight the logs are. Beautiful cabin!
Yep, logs are extremely tight and well put together in this cabin.
Tight is always good 😉
Your cabin is really starting to take shape nicely now, good to see you have it weatherproofed. I love how Cali follows you around with her toy, but instinctively knows when to back off when your too busy. She is one beautiful dog.
Thank you James for taking the time to show us your work and progress. It’s amazing! Great job!
Absolutely beautiful log cabin.
One of the very best channels on RUclips.
From a forest to a cozy dwelling in just a few months. Amazing, Shawn!!
So impressive. Can't wait for the snow to fly!
What a beautiful cabin you have built, Mr Shawn. Can't wait to see it all finest.
Your Family is SO fortunate to have you and your great talents!
If you can harness the energy in Cali's tail wagging you would not need any solar power. She is living the best life ever. Your cabin is the best one ever. Step by step and enjoying the process along the way.
Ms Cali swimming in the lake was magnificent, you have an amazing fur baby!
Always in awe watching you work. What another beautiful cabin home you have built as well as a forest garden and greenhouse! You are a monster builder!
God saves the best for last for a reason - to show others how it's done. It's not the money that makes you the best - it's taking the time & effort in showing yourself just what you can do. It's what makes you both a student & teacher. What an AWESOME ACCOMPLISHMENT Shawn & well worth the effort. ♥ 🇨🇦
Wow! What progress! Your winter this year should be so much more comfortable. I’m excited to see what you have planned moving forward. Much love from the US and stay safe out there.
Watching your dedication to wanting to live a certain lifestyle is up lifting and your eye on craftsmanship is great to see
Long time viewer here. Congratulations on the progress on your cabin! Your vision, talent and hard work over many months are bringing this beautiful cabin into being…and is something to be admired! Thanks for sharing.
This cabin is a dream cabin. I have never seen such a well designed and efficient log cabin. If I could live in a cabin like this it would be a dream come true. But I bet this is true of a lot of your followers. Hope you give us a tour of it inside after it is fully finished with furniture. I’m sure it will be a show stopper.
Very impressive to see all the amount of work you deploy in building your homestead and growing your domaine! Congratulations!
I have loved your videos for years. There’s an inexplicable feel-good factor to them; almost like coming home.
Cabin is really coming together now! Beautiful work.
One focused man w. a vision who sees only one direction, forward.
