So the dancers are the Black Foxes and they are apart of the band. They perform a routine every halftime and they also dance in the stands. The show format you saw today, is typically the format that all HBCUs follow and do. Band is a huge part of the HBCU culture. Often we go to the games to see the band more so than even the football game lol we also have battle of the band between bands of different HBCUs .
These are majorette dancers thst are an integral part of every historically black U. S. university marching band. The dance team is always featured. as is the drum line and bass line.
HBCU bands are all fantastic!!

This was one of my last performances with the Marching STORM!! Thanks for taking the time to experience a different side of band culture! The athleticism and pageantry of bands at Historically Black colleges and universities is something to behold! The rivalry between bands at the different schools is INTENSE and on par with some of the big name schools’ sport rivalries. Music is really a universal language!

Aww thanks for highlighting my alma mater! I was a mellophone player in PVAMU’s band The Marching from 2001-2005. Best band in the land!! Also, if you were wondering about the girls, they are the university dance team called the Black Foxes. They have produced such amazing talent as Megan Thee Stallion.

My alum! We marched there in 07 or 08 when they played against university of miami
The right name for the girls that were dancing are called majorettes. They are very common in hbcu bands and all hbcu bands have them. And every school have a different name(nickname) for their majorettes. And for this school their name is the black foxes.

A & M stands for agricultural and mechanical. Many A&M universities have incredible marching bands it was influenced by the African-American experience. Many of the best marching bands in the U.S. come from this tradition!

React to Jackson state university marching band
Historically Black College Bands are amazing. They dance and make the crowds stay in their seats at halftime to watch. FAMU's band is unbelievable also. These universities were mostly built in the late 1800s because the white universities discrimminated and banned black Americans from attending their schools.
My family and I are HBCU proud alumni of Tuskegee University, Alabama State University, Jackson State University, Prairie View A&M University and Xavier University New Orleans. I have a cousin who is headed to Howard University in the Fall of 2021.
PVAMU ist eine traditionell "Black" Universität aus Texas! Die Tänzerinnen heissen Majorettes und sind keine Cheerleader im herkömmlichen Sinn! Die Aggies haben die Band nicht eingeladen ihre Halbzeitshow aufzuführen sondern die Bands von beiden Mannschaften spielen bei jedem Spiel....vorausgesetzt die Band reist mit! Vielleicht kannst Du auch auf Sonic Boom von Jackson State reagieren!?

Actually that may be incorrect for this one. TAMU has invited PVAMU to play at it's games and one time Florida invited them to replace their band at TAMU. More recently A&M and PV have actually played games against each other and the band also went but them actually playing each other is extremely rare.
