  • @shawnpaulzuccarellorizzo
    @shawnpaulzuccarellorizzo 3 года назад +3

    I'm glad you didn't add the heatsink.💯 Totally unnecessary component for a ps5. It is an option. It might transfer heat a little more, but not having one is not going to hurt your drive, nor will it likely throttle much while gaming. Pcie-gen 4 nvmes are the first to start really even using heatsinks. but.....the heatsinks only really make a difference while mining or constant file transer to other drives, as the cards are constantly being written to. Gaming on an NVME mostly reads. I game with an RTX 3090 and a 2TB nvme, without heatsink. Haven't been throttled once. That's way more power than a PS5 and no issues. I think it's cool that consoles are using newer PC type nand storage, but it's also confusing novice consumers too. Kinda like RGB lighting! Rainbow flashy light make game go faster! lol Also...look at the construction of the console. If they really wanted you to have a heatsink, they would have built it into that removable plate. It's just marketing to get you to cough up dough basically. Actually, as an aside......a heatsink is a really pointless idea in this instance actually. There is no airflow over the heatsink, therefore it would become wholly saturated before it could even begin dissipating any heat. Totally pointless as it's enclosed.

      Using an M.2 SSD with your PS5 console REQUIRES effective heat dissipation with a cooling structure, such as a heatsink and a heat transfer sheet. You can attach these to your M.2 SSD yourself, either in a single-sided format, or double-sided format (single-sided cooling structures are an easier fit). There are also M.2 SSDs that have cooling structures (such as heatsinks) built-in. For information on how to attach the heat dissipation mechanism, check the instructions that come with it.

    I am so confused! LOL. This appears to be the same SSD I bought. "Samsung Electronics 980 PRO SSD with Heatsink 1TB PCIe Gen 4 NVMe M.2" Is the actual heat sink separate? Or is it built in?
