    Thank you for the video. I bought a pair of Adios 8 just because they were heavily discounted, and with NO real space in my rotation for them. I must say I completely agree with you in that it is a shoe that takes you back to proper form focus, regardless of what type of running you use it for. I enjoy them for easy runs, tempo runs, long runs and even hills. It is not the fastest(Takumi Sen), nor is it bouncy(Adios P3) or supportive(Boston), but it just a effortless easy shoe to get along with, and to squeeze in anywhere and anytime you feel you need a break from all the modern high stack/plated shoes we run in.

    Agree good to do some runs in a shoe like the Adios 8. Still think it is a lot "more shoe" than the flats of bygone times. The Adios 1 I used most as my racer/session shoe until about 5 years ago and even with Boost that seemed "less" shoe. I was using the Adios 8 last summer for some multi terrain say part road, part light trails runs plus a few sessions. Do now instantly feel a lot lower to the ground but in a nice way. I guess now with the Takumi Sen 8, 9 and 10 are still being sold and often with big discounts danger of the Adios 8 being a bit sidelined. I "kind of" feel I had a place for say the Adios 8 and Takumi Sen 9 which I actually have but in reality both are sessions shoes and/or relatively minimal longer run shoes as now don't think either are an actual race shoe for me. If as leaked the Adios 9 is going to be "more" minimal it will be interesting but suspect will be an more niche shoe. On the other hand I feel for my long feet the Adios 8 is more like a "Boston" the 10-12 ever are/where for me. Again though "more is better" is generally now what seems to sell. On a slight tangent will a Peg Turbo 4 if like the 2 now seem too little shoe for many. Anyway good these less built up shoes have not been discontinued altogether but is going that way. I wonder if the Adios 9 will be track legal. That would have to make it very low stack indeed now so find that unlikely especially as actual spikes now have the foams to largely negate the need to wear flats for anybody in track races.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  7 месяцев назад +3

      I suspect we will see more shoes like the A8, but especially the TS10, in the coming years as weight again takes center stage. The Evo 1 showed weight savings is important but they can’t sacrifice durability 100%. So the only option will be less foam and lower stacks again. Making something like the TS10 a bit of the norm and the A8/9 a workout shoe and try shorter racer for some.
      I do think the A9 will be a niche shoe but I’m happy Adidas is still investing in their development.
      The Peg Turbo 4 seems to be a higher stack now… last I saw it was about 30mm in the forefoot… I don’t think Nike is going for a lower shoe with it at all. We will see. Everything leaking still is a prototype and who knows from what stage of development.

    You and I have commented many times how much we love and enjoy the Adios 8. I second your statements on durability as my pair has about 250 miles on them and my outsoles show virtually zero wear, even in my higher wear areas (lateral heel and center toe off on my left foot). I also really enjoy the ride for a no nonsense shoe and working on my mechanics, hill reps, and some shorter workouts. My 2 most anticipated shoes this year are the Adios 9 and the SL2. I will most likely pick up the SL2 as my next daily trainer to pair with my the Novablast (once I order them). Great in depth content as usual. It’s going to be an exciting year for Adidas.

    I ran in the Adidas Torsion system in the Comrades Marathon 1991 - 90 KMS in a minimalist shoe. Much firmer than the 8 FYI The Torsion System Created by legendary Adidas designer Jacques Chassaing in the mid and late eighties, the ZX series was among the first to make use of adidas’ revolutionary Torsion system. Due to the new technology, the forefoot and heel sections of the soles could work independently from one another. In the process, it produced some of the most recognizable runners the era has ever seen.

      @@SagasuRunning This is another article i found on their design logic - "The adidas Torsion System
      This technology was intended for running shoes and gave the shoe more flexibility. The Torsion technology was mainly designed to support the midfoot. This allowed the forefoot and rear foot to move more freely and allows the foot to roll more easily while running.
      The Torsion system works as follows: The sole with this system is divided into three parts. The forefoot, midfoot and heel. When you take a step, your foot rolls, as it were, from toe to heel. This causes a lot of pressure on the foot, which can lead to injuries, especially in marathon runners.
      adidas ZX6000 Torsion System
      The Torsion technology provides a bridge between the forefoot and the rear foot. By supporting the midfoot, the foot rolls off more easily when running. On the bottom of the sole, you can often see a kind of 'bridge' that connects the front of the sneaker with the back. This connection is made of TPU-materials."

    I have 260km on the adios 8 and looking back it is mostly hill reps, track 200s and 400s, and threshold workouts. I got them in July 2023.
    What seems to have happened is that I reached for the adios 8 in preference to the Takumi Sen 8 - which has the same mileage but I have had it since Feb 2023.
    The think I don’t like is the torsion rod thing that is exposed to the outsole - which the TS 7 and A7 also had. It slides on gravel bits. I liked the Nike Streak 6/7 that had the shank inside the midsole better - although grave bits used to get stuck in the voids in the midsole in the Streak so nothing is perfect.

    • @brianreiter5572
      @brianreiter5572 7 месяцев назад

      Also whatever phylon was that Nike used in the Streak 6/7 was better than Lightstrike 2.0. But I rather like Lightstrike Pro better than the old phylon and LSP is more resilient in a durability sense than phylon was. It does not break down much over a lot of mileage.
      On the one hand the LS rear kind of gives a proprioceptic dull thud for the badly placed footstrike, but on the other maybe it should just be LSP the whole shoe.
      A lower stacked all LSP shoe with a shank should be really nice.
      On the aside about the StreakFly, I could not really get into it. It was really, really light but it tended to a “bottoming out” feeling for me of squish and then pavement, which neither the Streak nor the Streak LT had.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  7 месяцев назад

      Ya… the exposed midfoot shank makes horrible noises on gravel. That has been an Adidas hallmark for a while, but the A8 is especially bad.
      I picked so much rock out of Streaks, both the voids AND hex forefoot pattern.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  7 месяцев назад

      Nike Phylon was a great. It was basic EVA with some fancy manufacturing techniques… but it was a better EVA than LS2.0 for sure. It did last forever too… as well as staying very consistent over the life of the shoe.
      The A8 really does let you know when your foot strike is not solid. Part of the slapping sound I mentioned I that it’s even more extreme after 160km for me.
      The SF was WAY softer than the Streaks and I knew many Streaks fans who had the same issue with the SF. Only a few of us embraced the SF… the rest stuck with their Streaks. I know one guy back in NYC who still has a stockpile of Streak 7s, at least 4-5 pairs new in the boxes. Even a few Streak LTs. He just won’t give them up.

    • @brianreiter5572

      Adidas has a large Adizero track line… but the A8 is a good hybrid shoe. I have enough or on the track, though the outsole is more road focused.
      The Takumi Ren/Sen were always 100% road shoes and nearly completely paralleled the Boston/Adios for the Japanese market, though they were even more stripped down and lightweight.
      The new Takumi Sen, 8-10, has little to do with the older legacy models in the range. The TS10 does seem stiff, due to the EnergyRod 2.0 carbon system… but I think they should make the shoe better. I will eventually get a pair whenever they release here.

    Can you believe V8 has not been released in Brazil at all? I found that out when I went looking for a pair for my speed sessions. Anyway, I ended up getting a super cheap shoe designed and manufactured by FILA in Brazil, called "Kenya Racer 5". The foam feels like EVA from two decades ago, but it weighs a meager 170g in my size. Besides, it costs 60 USD at full retail price, so it's working wonders for short and fast runs, specially with the Kinvara 14 tagged at 180 USD, Streakflies at 150 (with a discount), the NB Rebel V3, and the Takumi Sen 10 at a whopping 300 USD! Yes, you read that right!

    • @ucatani

      And it gets weirder,@@SagasuRunning, because V7 is still available and Adidas' lineup in the country features most choices, so I don't see why this specific model is unavaiable.
      Anyway, as for the prices, just to sort it out, that happens to other brands too. I don't really know the exact figures but I'm sure a lot has to do with import taxes, because mammoths such as Nike and Adidas only make a few of their models locally. This, in turn, leads to an absurd premium on imported goods (for the sake of illustration, this happens to iPhones, vehicles, autoparts, watches, you name it), sometimes reaching 100%. Then, when these things eventually get a 40% discount, they'll be listed at the actually fair price they should've been from the very start.
      I know this doesn't concern you directly, or most of your audience, but since you incorporate a product design/market approach to your content, I thought you could find this interesting to know.
      For instance, I always read about how Puma Velocity Nitro 2 delivers a better experience compared to Pegs and other daily trainers for a fairer price tag (I even got one at a discount). Well, maybe they are, but hot here necessarily.
      Here's a few price tags to illustrate the point. How these could potentially affect your and other people's rotation choices? (these are not discounted, when they're discounted, they tend to be have very, very similar prices).
      Puma VN 2 = 180 USD
      Nike Pegs 40 = 200 USD
      Asics Novablast 4 = 200 USD
      Adidas Adizero SL = 180 USD
      New Balance 1080V13 = 240 USD (ouch)
      Saucony Ride 15 = 200 USD
      HOKA Clifton 9 = 220 USD
      More strikingly, the Superblast is 320 USD, and it's not surprising that I HAVE NEVER SEEN A PAIR IN PERSON, perhaps because the Adios Pro 3, for instance, is 360 USD, and the Vaporfly 3 is 400. Of course, nothing at this point can beat the Alphafly (500 USD) and the EVO 1, which is currently priced at 800 USD, lol.
      Have a nice week and thanks again for the kind responses. Happy running!

      Fascinating. Living in Taiwan we deal with import taxes as well, but nothing like that. I have read about the Brazilian governments import controls before… but it all seems so random from your details.
      This is also another reason I rarely talk about price on the channel as it is such a local thing. Every country differs greatly and what is consisted expensive vs what IS expensive completely differs. Traveling as I do I see this often. So I’ll only mention price if it’s a big factor of the overall product.

    • @SagasuRunning
      @SagasuRunning  7 месяцев назад +1

      On paper comparable… but on foot totally different rides and purposes. The Mach 5 is a cushioned performance trainer. It’s the type of shoe you might train in then race in something like the Adios 8. The Hoka Cielo Road is the direct Hoka analog to the Adios 8.
      Mach = cushioned performance trainer
      Cielo Road/Adios 8 = racing flat

    Do you know if the New Balance Rebel v4, Hoka Mach 6, and a possible Pegasus Turbo 4 ( depending on the weight) are at the same category of the Adizero Adios ?
    I loved my Adios 7 much more than the Adizero SL ... the Adios was more stable (even if narrower) , quicker, and with a much better toe off grip .
    But I was thinking about going for a change from Adidas to try out other quick shoes from other brands.
    Thanks.

      None of those shoes you mentioned are in the same category as the Adios 8. The shoes you mentioned are all considered “performance trainers” and very much not racing flats. They all have much higher stack are rockered.
      The Hoka Cielo Road, Asics Hyper Speed 3 and the Brooks Beast are all similar to the Adios 8. The Adios 8 is the better shoe though.

      Mizuno is on my radar now, but I have no real plans to try any this year. Mostly because while Mizuno is very popular here in Taiwan, they are nearly all gold and baseball. Mizuno performance running is very rare here.

    Is it the type like Saucony Kinvara where you have to give your foot to work more but still has some good defense and energy return? makes you work more but trains your foot better (your foot has to do the job unlike w these carbon plates, that helps).

    • @SagasuRunning

      Similar. The older Kinvaras were much more flexible than the Adios 8. Plus they did have the torsion system the A8 has… but in 2023/24 it’s about as close to a classic Kinvara feel as you’ll find.

Do you have experience with the 7s? Is the 8 more durable or is sprinting and plyometric work just too much for the adios series?

    Im feeling pain using cushion shoes in outer sole foot, near outside little finger foot because im a forefoot strike runners
    In adios 8, perfect for supination. Lower stack comfortable for outward forefoot step
    I've tried novablast 4, magic speed 3, deviate nitro, endorphin speed 3. All of them make my outward forefoot feels painful 😢
    Adios 8 perfectly fine

      You could do worst that these as a daily trainer. I did a lot of easy running in my pair and enjoyed them for that. If you want a daily trainer this minimal, these are your bes toption. However the Adidas SL2 is a fantastic daily option. I also prefer lower stack shoes for daily running, and the SL2 is borderline mid stack to me, but it's a great shoe with a ton of performance.
      I'll have some content around a new shoe and brand to the channel later this month or ealry Nov...on a shoe that I think might be the ideal daily trainer for those who prefer lower stack and more traditional shoes with good natural foot flex. Stay tuned.

      No. Strung, like the entire Prime X is a development platform. Strung uppers don’t make good racer speed uppers.
