It's especially baffling when you consider that basically every commercial building is like this. Hell, I was at Anthrocon last year at DLCC, and that convention center's stairwells are set up so that the only way you're getting out once you go in is to hit the crash bar on at ground level. Only thing keeping you from getting locked out was the fact they propped the doors so attendees could use the stairs since the elevators were already overloaded with fursuiters waiting to leave for the evening.

There is a good reason not to build a PC, an OEM PC comes with a warranty and has all of the required hardware to make a functional PC in one purchase.

    • @Psy500

As do places like Micro Center, if everything in your PC came from there and it is still under warranty then you just hand them the bill and the PC and they will swap parts around from in the store till it works even if you build it as you bought the parts from them.

it is annoying people don't get the point of Win Refund Day - it was gernerally cheaper to buy a whole computer package that came close to you hard ware reqiuerments then upgrade what you wanted that buy parts. still today buying a prebuilt system that has 85-90% of what you want is still cheaper than just parts. I talked to my freinds son last year who was going to build a PC and it worked out that a prebuilt from a reliable computer shop was 20% cheaper, had a WARANTY, and had 95% of what he was going to buy anyway. THIS IS WHY THEY WANTED A REFUND FOR WINDOWS....

I suppose someone could ask at this point why they didn't force the door, but that one is really obvious... it would take a lot of time and you'd probably go to jail for trespassing if you succeeded. If you're that crazy, you might as well lie in wait to pick the pockets of Microsoft employees or something, which would be about as morally questionable as breaking a locked door down. I'm actually not sure which one you'd get a longer sentence for.
