  • My Dream Smallholding: The first of the IBC tanks.
    Hey! Welcome back to another episode everyone. If you're a returning viewer, thank you so much for the support! If you're new, welcome and good luck haha.
    In this episode, let's be honest, there’s not much going on… I bring my first of 6 IBC tanks onsite, these are now used for sheep paddock water troughs and rain water capture. I’m also helping one of my girls, Fat White, by getting a big mud pile out from her foot.
    I’ve decided to not upload a few videos prior to this, I found they were just too wishy washy (yes even more so than this episode!) I have, obviously, been planting a load of native hedgerow, which you can see in parts of this video. Around 500 natives at this point of filming.
    I think Ill put up 3/4 more videos, then Ill catch up to real time.
    I appreciate all of you, thank you so much for tuning in. Please give my accounts a look and follow, if you like them. every little helps.

    Hey folks, thanks for your time. I really appreciate it ❤. It's not the most productive episode and sorry for the motion sickness and sound levels on this one 😂. I've decided to skip a few edits before this video too. Planting up to this point, is around 500 native trees 🌳 🎉. That's what all the wool is protecting on the field and fence 😊. Hopefully get another video up in the next few days for you. Much love.

    Just came across your channel. Nice chilled viewing of your smallholding journey. Just realised you're only up the road. I'm in Chester, small world. I hope to have a smallholding one day. Keep at it, loving all the tree planting.

    Thanks for videos .. thought I'd add that getting say 3 pallets for beneath your ibc would give you space for containers your putting water into .. plus you may want to put them in a position that's already uphill so you can gravity feed your hosepipe ? .. all the best

    Just a quick tip. Keep your ibc tanks dark, buy covering them from sunlight. The algi will grow surprisingly quick if you don't.

      Ah yeah don't you worry. Not my first IBC tank experience, just for Greenfields it was. I have them in the field paddocks with a trough each, with their own individual covers 🤌😊. Also have the inner foil covers to keep them cool through the Summer 🐑🙏

      Start is at my sisters. Where some of my girls are kept now and then. I sort their grounds for them too. Greenfields has been derelict for a long time, with its fencing down so long, it's been overgrazed/used. So it needs a hell of a lot of work getting it back to functional agriculture and to make some money back. Then it's building time. This channel will be a long burner. Nature recovery is extremely important to me, so all must be done in balance here and for the area I live, as its an Area of outstanding natural beauty (a government designation in the uk)

    I nearly went with an IBC but with my limited space it worked out better to go with 4 water buts (that's what I could squeeze in) and good advice with the lambs wish I had space for that lol

    • @offthegridwales
      @offthegridwales  7 месяцев назад +1

      Ah Cheers Tony! They are quite big if you're short on space. I was originally sourcing more household type waterbutts but shocked how much they are these days! I've also bought and turned one ibc into a hay rack 😁🤌. I hope you (and Teddy) are well 🙏
