  • In this video we review the Milwaukee Door Lock Installation Bi-Metal Hole Saw Set. If you've wanted to install deadbolts or door knobs but the door didn't have a predrilled hole or the predrilled hole was too small then this Milwaukee door lock jig is perfect for you. We looked into the ryobi wood/metal door lock installation kit but the Milwaukee was more highly rated.

always start your hole by running the drill backwards. This cuts without grabbing and works very well.

When I replaced 2 sets of door knobs/dead bolts that were over 35 years old I knew I would have to re-drill the large round holes. The 1" bolt holes were perfect they did not require re-drilling. To assist in drilling the correct large holes I used a Ryboi jig, similar to the one you used. The jig worked perfect guiding the large hole saw through the previously partly drilled holes. After re-drilling the 4 large holes it was very easy to install the door knobs/dead bolts. The striker plate tool you used did not seem to be of any benefit from using a razor knife and chisel. Thanks for the informative video.

I just bought that same setup! Found your video just for the Milwaukee hole jig and it was a nice surprise to see the Ryobi tool in your video, too. Nice! Thanks for that! I may still use the Ryobi tool even though you’re so-so about it. The other comment in here from someone saying if you hit it hard then it would work great. I have a hung door (swinging door lol) and I should be able to hit it harder than you can on that pocket door. Should be good to go. If it’s fast and easy then maybe it’s worth the $11.50.

The ryobi tool would have worked better if your door was not already up. If you were able to hit harder on the tool it would have cut the wood more and then when you hammered down and up the wood would have come right out.

Yea he needed to go back and hit it again to go deeper into the door

What are you going to accomplish with that hardware on a pocket door. Seems like you want that hardware on a swinging door.

the strike jamb will have a recessed slot for the door to slide into and the barrel lock has a hook to grab the strike plate to lock. amzn.to/2Ufb4MP if you scroll down to some of the reviewers pictures you can see what i'm talking about. works really well!

You used the Ryobi tool correctly but missed out on the other feature. Turn it sideways and it has a built in chisel that you use to scoop down, re-adjust, and then scoop up, then... Voila!

10:26 I love how you blame the door and not yourself for making a mistake lmao

Why would you put a massive hole in the side of your door?

  • @dsertwq

Maybe you should explain what happened and how others might not do the same mistake you made instead of never showing the end product of something you're trying to make a dime off of.

I always like to burn myself trying to get the puck out of the hole saw 😃. Is that a barrel lock for a pocket door? How does it work?

hahaha yeah the burning is just great. the strike jamb will have a recessed slot for the door to slide into and the barrel lock has a hook to grab the strike plate to lock. amzn.to/2Ufb4MP if you scroll down to some of the reviewer's pictures you can see what i'm talking about. works really well!

Would never use that ryobi drill for those hole saw bits, terrible. if you used a more capable drill would be way faster
