    Hands down, the best, most intense, nuanced, and joyfully played performance of Symphony 40 I’ve ever heard. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🥰

    I think the profundity of the second movement is so totally unique, those depts will not be reached again until well entered the Beethovenian era. In all the classic symphonic output of the time, there's no sound and dept comparable.
    And man, THE MENUETTO! speechless.

    This was the first time I had listened to Symphony #40 in its entirety in years. I have never heard such a sparkling interpretation. There was so much to see and hear. I loved how Ahss conducted downbeats by prepositioning his bow for the downstroke. Also, this performance had much of the intensity of a great chamber concert, because every player was distinctly responsible for the integrity of the ensemble. Bravi!

    This is the most perfect realization I ever heard of Mozart;'s great g minor symphony. MOLTO ALLEGRO, passion, shading, clarity, superb rhythm, just not enough words to praise it.

    I've heard this multiple times since I was a child - well, it's one of the most famous pieces of classical music after all - but never, ever have I heard it played like this. This is at a whole new level. All the nuances and the feeling of the music. It really feels like the music is in the silence between the notes.
    And yes, this is proof that Mozart was - and is - the best composer ever.

    Symphony No. 40 in G minor, K. 550 was written by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart in 1788. It is sometimes referred to as the "Great G minor symphony", to distinguish it from the "Little G minor symphony", No. 25. The two are the only extant minor key symphonies Mozart had written.
    The date of completion of this symphony is known exactly, since Mozart in his mature years kept a full catalog of his completed works; he entered the 40th Symphony into it on 25 July 1788. Work on the symphony occupied an exceptionally productive period of just a few weeks during which time he also completed the 39th and 41st symphonies (26 June and 10 August, respectively).

    Accurate but too fast. Especially the minuet which is meant to be an elegant dance, not a rushed piece.

      @StanObirek Год назад +7

      I used to prefer a slower tempo, but somehow I like this interpretation. I think Mozart wanted to put emphasis on phrases not single notes and nobody expects this minuet to be played in dance halls.

    • @Verschlungen

      An "elegant dance"?? The minuet is SARDONIC. And the trio is from outer space. Nothing to do with dancing down here on monkey-planet.
