This guy is the best. Wish i had a lawn company that had near the knowledge as this guy. Forget about the price I just want a good service. Best wishes for him
Excellent! I am putting in a zoysia lawn with plugs, and really appreciate the education, as I never have had the experience with zoysia and the weeds here are very active.
Kris from Spring, TX. This video and a lot of your videos have been super helpful. I’ve been researching and sounds like Celcius and Certainty are the combination I need. Your breakdown of pre vs post emergent weeds makes sense. Thanks and please keep the info coming.
You might also consider a new product that just came out called southpaw. I might be using it more for spot treating next year. Should be great for broadleaf weeds and sedges and some grassy weeds
How can I find out the ratio for a spot sprayer if I wanted to mix both Celsius and Certainty together for spot spraying weeds that pop up after following your pre-emergent plan of Resolute and Specticle Flow. I just retired and I am going to take over my two acres of lawn care and do it myself. Thank you and I have been following you for a couple of years and appreciate the information very much!
Thanks so much, Jason! This really helps me target weeds in my centipede lawn! Certainty and Celsius have been my go to but I may consider some other options for areas where I have heavy sedge or poa infestation to help with suppression
Don't use a pre-emergent if you plan on seeding your cool season lawn in the Fall though. The only one that I know of that can be used and still allow germination is Tenacity (Mesotrione).
Very grateful for this information. I'm aiming to get certified this winter for my landscaping business. Could you tell me how you got your certifications in Alabama? I live in Alabama also so it should be the same process. Thank you for any help! Great job explaining so much information.
Great info! What brand of battery spot sprayers do you recommend? I’ve got several 1 gallon pump sprayers but would like to transition to battery ones. Also, wish you serviced the Odenville/Moody area!
amzn.to/3U0wZ9r this is an Amazon affiliate link to the one that I use. I have several of them. I used to work in Moody but I downsized my route a few years ago
whats your favorite for poa in cool season KBG? ~ Been fighting it with tenacity since late july early sept. losing faith in tenacity though . last time i spiked with nitrogen for uptake and burned some seedlings out .
FlowZone is having a sale on their 2.5 gallon sprayers for $90 (Microburst 2.0). Comes with the battery and charger. I bought some this morning, I'll use them next season for insecticides/fungicides.
I have a lawn that is half bermuda half fescue due to a large amount of trees. Looks like the resolute can be used on both grasses. Any recommendations on post emergents that I can use on both grass types?
Enjoyed the video and appreciate all the details. On broadleaf weeds in a Georgia bermuda lawn, would you use different products at different points in the year, or is Manor the one you recommend in both warmer and cooler temps? I think I damaged my grass once with 2-4D in summer temp, so have been nervous about when I can use the broadleaf products and would like to better understand options for different times of the year.
Depends on what I'm trying to accomplish. I don't like using manor too much. I might use it twice per year. You need to make sure you're within the annual limits on the label. Sometimes Manor mixed with change up is a good combination for broadleaf weeds at a fairly cheap price. I don't use 2-4d in the summer. Changeup is a good alternative
I'm in south Florida (St Augustine but not sure of the variety) for the past three years, the main weeds i noticed is spurge or pusley, crabgrass and some sort of sedge.. two questions. (1) one of the suggestion is to mix the pre and post emergent (i have prodiamine, celsius and sedgehammer), the pre emergent needs to be watered in but the post does not how do i go about that? do i have to wait some period of time before watering?... (2) is now (early October a good time to put down pre emergent is south Florida (palm beach county)?
Cost aside, why wouldn't one just apply Specticle Flo in both Spring and Fall as an all-year pre emergent program? It's been proven to be far more effective and is labeled for many more broadleaf summer weeds than Prodiamine. The only logical reason I can think of would be to try and prevent weeds becoming tolerant or resistant to the active ingredient in Specticle Flo. Thanks for the great Videos!
@elian222 I do that often and so do many other people. Personally, I plan to continue using it in the fall but would like to try other options in the spring that might be a little less harsh on the rooting
I run a z sprayer jr 2 / 12 gallon tanks. At 50 psi and 3-4 mph putting down .57 gallons per 1,000 sq ft. Should I be getting about 21,000 sq ft coverage of 12 gallons?
@@bryanswift10 Charge the customer 200 dollars to do an application that is 10x before you start to make money. I say it is worth it if you have good clients.

split app of specticle at 3 oz / acre each app okay for north Texas? first app in Septemebr and October and second app of course in November and December. Also, do you add surf. to your tank mix if you have pre and post in there? I've been advised not to do that.
Yes, I think that split app is good. I'm typically just doing one app at 6.5 Oz. Either way should work. I add surfactant with pre and post mixed together almost all the time
@@lawncarelife very interesting! I appreciate it. Do you still keep the same surfactant rate of 2/3 oz per gallon? This is also something I’m learning so forgive me, but don’t you have to be careful with 24D when Bermuda or St Augustine is transitioning into dormancy? Thanks!
sulfentrazone really controls nutsedge. Apply when not too hot. Then the following year hit it hard in the spring or early summer and it shouldn't be that bad. You can also try certainty but its a very slow killer.

Now is the time to spray nut sedge.Timing it right before dormancy will greatly improve the root kill before the winter. I use Sulfosulfuron.

Great job Jason. Common sense approach to weed control.
