Been there done that. It took me 15 years to realize that I wasn’t mad at God but rather I was upset with His “kids”, the organized church people. I just got tired of dealing with all I had gone through with “church” continually beating me down for playing in a Christian metal band and my long hair, tats and earrings. I had to come to terms that I believe in God for Him not anybody else. I respect this singer for being honest and his own man. Find your way bro. 👍🏼

I'm with you. I grew up in an extremely toxic fundamentalist baptist church. That brand of christianity makes my stomach turn. I'm on my own journey of reprogramming my mind and my spirit. I want to live for God and trust God wholeheartedly, but I have to entirely shift my perspective from how I was raised. It's difficult.

Well, you care more about tattoos, girls, piercings, you care for such meaningless things & you don’t give all your soul to God. It’s not that you are a bad person for what you do, you are not fully committed to walking with Jesus . You aren’t living righteously, you still care for worldly things. You are suppose to drop it all, friends, trends, language, everything . Narrow is the way . Not all churches are the same, most of these new age churches, new age Christian songs . It’s all leading down the path of this lead singer. They care about the world and what it thinks of them.

Hi , Well I just wanted to say I pray / hope you base your faith on God alone not people. Meaning don't let peoples actions determine what you believe in. You can take others choices into consideration but don't dwell on them. You need to decide for yourself by reading / listening to God's Word . I'm not trying to tell you what to do I'm just advising you because if you say it's not because of God but because of people then people will most of the time always let you down but God is good and will not leave your side if you abide in him. I just saw your comment and felt lead to say this to you . I hope you have a good day and know that Jesus loves you and I pray you will continue to grow in your faith rather than give up on it. ..If I may recommend something to you and anyone else reading this it's to listen / check out the radio station 1590 WARV . It has alot of great teachings that talk about faith and God's word along with good news for your life. Keep the faith ....go forward ..Godbless

I'm currently still living with my parents because I'm 18 and I've always been raised in a very Christian way and every thing was God or nothing and over the years I've kinda got comfortable in my faith and I was very involved in the church, I played guitar and I was a media team member for the church and when I turned 17 I started challenging my faith most of the time when I search for God it felt like he didn't want to be found so the sweater analogy started to apply, then recently I watched a video by nateislame talking about religion and I started agreeing with the points and I kept thinking about it and eventually I had no sweater, but when I stumbled upon this guy and this story I felt more comfortable with admitting that I no longer believe in God and I told my friends and they're accepting of it (my friends are made up of different religions) but I'm just so scared to tell my parents because if their support mechanism is always turn to God, I fear I'll be shunned and they won't accept me, but don't get me wrong I still love them but when it comes to religion they're starting to be more accepting but they are still very traditional Christian

He grew up with Christianity all around him. It's easy to know everything about the Bible and Christianity but knowledge is not understanding. You can quote the whole Bible but not understand a single thing. If the foundation of what you believe is based off knowledge than it will crumble when life hits you in the face. Life will always try to contradict what you know to be true

We all got choices in life... the life of a Christian is to surrender completely your life to The Lord... believe me is not easy ( but ) from my experience God truly helps, guides, directs and changes your heart. This transformation has to occur because our human nature is always to do wrong (sin). And we all know the difference between right and wrong. I serve and Love a God that has always been there when I needed Him. And I don’t serve him because I need him now... is because I Love Him... and in order to Love someone you have to spend time with them... Get to know God but reading his (Word)... and by worshipping and prayer. I thank my Lord Jesus for this cause now I have true meaning in life... my life is not my own but His. God bless y’all!

Yet you think I'm the one with the problem? You want freedom for christians. You want to take out any books you don't like and add The Bible to replace any of them. You want kids to have God back in their lives and in the schools. You want America to be more godly. At the same time you wanna be not so persecuted every day. It sounds like you're going down a dead end road when it comes to my opinion. What is it that Fox News likes to say? Whatever it could be anything right? One thing's for sure. No we just don't respect baseless faith that judges everyone else and then plays a persecution complex. I like to call that hysteria, and a socially political disease. I think one of the biggest things that I noticed in my walk in faith is this: No matter how much I am angry, frustrated, and against God (in doing whatever I want to do). It’s fail every time to keep my anger towards him. This failure happens when I place myself besides my own feelings and noticed all the blessings God has given me. He’s kind to me, to all of us, even when we deliberately walk away from him. One thing that astonished me about him is his patience. He blesses us even when we act out against him. I lose every time against him because I always came to realize how he has stayed still despite me wanted to change him to fit my needs or my way of thinking.

I denounced my religion, the Bible, and now consider myself to be Agnostic. My wife and I were married by a justice of the peace and our two daughters have yet baptized in any capacity. My wife and I feel that our children can make their own decision to be baptized in a religion, when they are old enough and willing enough to do so. I always felt while my parents had good intentions, and as loving people that they are, the whole religion aspect was thrusted upon me growing up without any type of options. With my wife being WICCAN, we want our children to reach an age where they can be intelligent enough to choose they're own spiritual path in life, and we will be fully supportive in their ultimate decision.

Legit the biggest thing that plagues Christianity is the community, my faith isn't in the people of the church or the people who preach the word my faith is in Jesus and that's it. I'm not a church type because I don't fit in there and the people there often judge based on looks and aint nobody got time for that.

It’s always hard on kids or people who grew up and live that “religious” lifestyle, and that’s all they know and do, usually once you hit that age and wake up and see the world, or realize you have questions. They usually go buck wild 🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️🤷🏽‍♂️

    Umderoath said it best:
we're nota Christian band, we're Christians in a band. Putting a religion on a band prevents it from ever blossoming to its full potential
