  • This is the daily life of a Buddhist monk. As monks, we make it a practice to slow down and live simply. We make an effort to do this in all of our daily activities, even when doing laundry. We use it as an opportunity to practice mindfulness. The monk life is about simplicity. The daily life of a monk can be routine and mundane, so we use it as an opportunity to train ourselves to be happy in our daily work. In this video, our novice monk Alex gives us a glimpse of the minimalist life. #monklife #minimalism #monks

      Yes Mr. Kent
I also believe in every effort no matter how small it is
And I appreciate myself for even sometimes having tea mindfully
      Or just drawing mindfully.
The problem is we are so much rigid on ourselves....
So taking tiny effort on awareness
And mindfulness should be appreciated by none other than but our own selves....

There is something about cleaning, including doing laundry (and ironing), doing dishes, and so on that is very satisfying. There must be something in me that says that it's important to do these things and to do them well. Perhaps it's something I picked up in the army. It isn't fun but it is fulfilling and provides a lot of satisfaction--for me. It wouldn't work for others, I suspect.

    • @onlyinparadise4613

      From Thich Nhat Hahn:
“There is a misconception that Buddhism is a religion and that you worship Buddha. Buddhism is a practice, like yoga. You can be a Christian and practice Buddhism. I met a Catholic priest who lives in a Buddhist monastery in France. He told me that Buddhism makes him a better Christian. I love that.”
Because it’s NOT a religion, it doesn’t compete with other religions that requires worship of an external “god” such as in Christianity, Muslim, Hinduism, etc. Buddha was a not a god; he was a human that achieved enlightenment and ultimately, parinirvana.
There is a Buddha within all of us; this called the “Buddha nature”. Look within yourself, meditate, engage in mindfulness, cultivate loving kindness and compassion, enlightenment is attainable for everyone...

This is in regards of the video just before this one. How come a Monk is eating animals ( sentient beings) with te capacity to suffer and experience life with a perception very similar to us?
It is impossible to have an ecstatic life while eating suffering and violence. Literally impossible 🙏

Better the clothes were soaked for few hours, and then washed. As it gets time for the detergent to act upon the dirt.😃😊

Thanks you for these wonderfull fideo’s. Maybe some strange questions: how long do you wear your robe before washing, do you use ‘green’ (naturall) soap en do you wear underwear? Greetings from the Netherlands!
