I know a lot of other creators have already played this game! I just wanted to see it for myself and I’m honored that you’ve chosen to watch it with me, even if you’ve already seen it before :)
I know I saw Markiplier's playthrough of this, and seeing it again, it struck me on how often lightning--electricity--is involved. There are at least two times where the Smiler (for lack of a better term) lays tendrils on either side of the child's face--where in the very early years of electroshock therapy, the padded (and sometimes dampened with water or rubbing alcohol) electrodes would be laid. Am I saying this child was given electroshock therapy? Or that giving an adult patient electroshock therapy sent him back to a childlike state? No, I'm just intrigued that it's an ongoing theme, and one, in fact, that seems to change the entire scenery around the child when struck by the bolts.

Alrighty! My interpretation of this is that the kid had died and he is reliving all his most traumatic moments (maybe because they were his most memorable?). I believe that the kid had some form of terminal illness (maybe cancer???). The lack of hair in the dream world makes me think this. Now. Time for worlds. The first world most likely represents how the kid got bullied. With the representation of the ball, I’d assume that the kids either stole it or broke it in some way. For the second world, I’d believe that the kid was reliving his toy getting ripped up (most likely from the bullies). The third world represents the kid loosing his dog. (Maybe the kid saw the dog run away or get killed?) When the kid gets the toy or dog back from the dream world, I’d assume that’s when the nightmare would end, but the illness draws him back to his traumatic experiences. Going off that, I’d also assume that the smiley guy is supposed to represent the illness. Drawing him back towards the dreamworld and showing him the traumatic events. At the end of the story, I assumed that it portrayed the kid’s final moments and how he didn’t want to leave the world. You could see him struggling. In the end, this is what I took from it. This is my first time seeing this game, so I could have missed a few things. This is my opinion and feel free to add more in the comments!
I feel this is correct because there's also the part that looks like there in a vein or somthing, and the red blood cells. Then it turns all grey and they start attacking you (almost like when your sick) till it goes back to normal.
I know every tv show/movie/game series has this cheesy theory however I feel like this accurately portrays this game. Happy Game’s protagonist is most likely dead (most likely unalivement due to his melted head to represent a pool of blood behind the MC’s head we see at the end of the game) as he was severally mistreated and abused by people who were supposed to care for them. It’s likely that the protagonist is in a purgatory state and is trying to “redeem” themselves as they most likely went into substance abuse to negate their trauma. Because of their substance abuse/coping mechanism they more than likely hurt others, probably once getting themselves cleaned up, the protagonist must’ve been consumed by their guilt of the pain they caused others around them. The protagonist must’ve been depressed due to the constant guilt eating at their soul but tried to suppress it without the use of elicit substances by pretending to be happy all the time.
At 1:23:41 your comment actually makes sense, as he looks so much taller than in the rest of the game, and he’s all happy laying on the ground while his head is melted, because he probably overdosed on some drugs and relived his moments as a child before he dies
1:00:00 the way the little animated dog had me feeling "I've only known this dog for a minute and a half, but if anything happened to him I would kill everyone in this room and then myself"
Here's my personal two bits on this game. He's sick and passing away (or hallucinating), The kid is his trapped inner self that never died, as he's on the carpet, he's reminiscing to when he more sick and had gotten better for a short time with his pup but the fever dreams that followed during the whole course were haunting and continued even after, The child is being fed on day after day by a sickness that is giving him such vivid fever dreams that his fear of passing and not knowing how to obviously cope with these feelings, realizing themselves in his dream is the feeling of loss, anger, confusion, and fear that turned against all his beloved toys, dog, fish, his rabbits ate their babies in front of him, along with the abusive past he had faced, the "mask" that had been put on is fading to him, a heavy heart, the stones in your stomach that churn, and the ever present hand shaking fear of an overactive imagination that gets pinned against the wall of mental isolation. Ingenious people are seen as faceless because he sees through them as they're all just looking for something from him even if it's just the hurt him. The dog was the only one who hadn't hurt him, his 'sister?' was shown as abusive and was defended by the pup but even he had passed from eating the toy parts. "Death" is shows as a dark creature at 1:01:25 The Smiley face that keeps showing up is a visitation of an age old phase of "keep smiling and it'll get better" but it doesn't, and gets worse and even twists into a horror filled corrupted creature that everything turns out to be, the depths of human emotion is near boundless but what happens when it only goes deeper and franticly switches between a smiley horror dream and a disturbing reality. At the end I'm thinking that even as he's laying there dazed and lost he's afraid that his soul will live of but it's corrupted with anger and pain. Following this if you have any issues it's genuinely acceptable to reach out to anyone you trust, family, friends or a even anonymous resources to talk about your pain, trauma is not shameful and you deserve to be loved and help yourself get better with those you love
I'm sure you hear this a lot, but you are a wholesome dude, funny, nice and caring to your viewers, not annoying as most gamers, i enjoy watching your content bro, keep doing what you're doing king 💪🏼
@@biggaming64I believe that this boy is dead. He had some type of cancer (that’s why he has no hairs) and he is reliving his worst memories and forced to be happy like the quote from my parents “ your too young to be upset” I think the ball represents him getting bullied, the rabbit getting lost, and the dog dying. All of these he had to endure on his own and this “happy man is like satan in his own world making him experience these things. And the parts where he has hair is where his last moments were when he died.ALSO satan is erasing each memory of him dying one by one in each scene so no your not the man with hair that’s is him making you forget.
From personal experience, my theory is that this kid is having nightmares related to trauma. As a kid, I had recurring nightmares that related to the worst experiences in my childhood. This kid hasn't had the support through bullying, losing their dog, ect. These things might now be manifesting in violent nightmares. When we were kids, we were told to be happy, "You have nothing to be upset about. You're a kid!" That's something I heard as well as my peers. I think they feel trapped in their own mind as they grow up with no support. The ball might represent his bullying (the ball was taken by a bully) and you can see the way he chases after the ball (I personally think its him chasing after his happiness but idk). The ending enforces the idea that he feels trapped and alone, but puts on a 'happy face' to fit in. Kid needs help
Drugs. It's all about drugs. The man wanna relive his childhood so badly (probably because his life is "shit" and he can't cope with it) that he takes "happy pills" which...while yes, it does let him kinda relive his best days in a sense, gets twisted by the drugs. He needs to take more and more to get that proper high, and not just the scary hallucinations. In the end, he can't kick the habit and overdoses.

One of the more common interpretations of this game is that the drugs at the end were antidepressants. For some reason the new antidepressants he took caused extremely vivid nightmares and ended up killing him, ironically.
On mental health; A fact that always makes me feel better in the darkest of times is that out there in the world there is a species of tarantula that live with tiny frogs, the tarantula keeps the frog safe and the frogs keep the tarantula's eggs safe. Makes you think that even a big hairy thing like a tarantula can have a friendly side, and if that's the case the there must be hundreds of other examples of good in the world too, and that's worth getting up for 😊.
If you're taking recommendations, I suggest superliminal, its super abstract with some horror elements (its classed as a horror game). It's very puzzling and has wild lore! It kinda increases with suspense throughout the game. I haven't finished it before but what I did play was super fun! Might not be your cup of tea but it's worth a look!
Hey BigGaming64, my pap recently died, and your content is helping me cope and push through it. Thank you so much. You're my hero. You inspire me to push myself to the edge and jump. I can't thank you enough. ♡♡♡
The child's subconscious mind seeks comfort in familiar things he enjoys/ used to enjoy, but due to trauma, these things become twisted in his dreams. I believe his dreams are his mind's way of confronting the uncomfortable situations/ bad memories, and he's left unable to fully process the trauma, awash in being an NPC, simply adrift in it all, letting the experience just have his way with him. It's very hard for a young child to make sense of it all. He's losing his innocence piece by piece and yearns to have it back.
I’m not sure if you’ll see this, Biggamming, but there’s this horror game called Noted Reality and it is so interesting, well written, and sad. I really recommend it, and it has two endings. in the game you start in a cell and get notes, you have to imagine the outside world in till the very end. Its on roblox, but the game mentioned that there’s a non-roblox version that it was based off
I love the intros to this channel. Makes you feel nice and acknowledged. A lot of his word honestly stick to me, like a little reminder in sticky situations. A lovely touch to all his videos. :)
Hi! So glad to come back to a new video again. I'd like to tell you a little something. Sometimes i have good days, and sometimes i don't, such as bad arguments onlie, or as of now, THAT time of the month coming again, and my mind messing up. I get through those moments eventually! But thank you for posting again, BigGaming the goat 💪
Honestly this game is just so weird for me. Amanita design is literally my childhood. I loved playing their games and see them make something so graphic and disturbing feels really weird to me. Thankfully unlike when I was younger I love horror stuff now so it’s pretty cool seeing people from my childhood make something like this.
What's wild about this game is that it's by the same people who made Chuchel and Samorost (One of my favorite indie series!). 11:01 So polite, even when confronted with absolute horror.
@Abyssriver had the same theory as I did: terminal illness. to build on top of that: it's the forced sundering of his childhood. and putting on a brave face. or it's simply about being forced to grow up before he's ready. in any case, I've never said "wtf" so many times in rapid concession in my life. i never want to see this game again 😀
Thanks for giving mental health advice, I really enjoy it, and you don’t know how much it means to me and how much joy I get from these videos, thank you.
3:45 that's actually exactly what it is! Team cherry were always making point and clicks and they did actually start with flash and slowly improve technically.

YAAAAAY! THIS BRINGS ME AN EXTREMELY LEGITIMATE FEELING OF JOY! I AM VERY HUMAN. THESE ARE NORMAL FEELINGS. WE ARE ALL NORMAL. DO NOT STOP SMILING. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊
Honestly, the powerful concentration of grotesque nature the game has would make one think that it was representative of a subject as intense as the drug abuse theory, but I think that the disturbing factor was just powerful in the subject it was meant to represent, also that I don’t see how those three things and the flashbacks would have such a profound impact in the game for drug abuse to be a theory, basically I don’t believe it’s drug abuse because the random childhood things played too big of a part in the game and the flashbacks didn’t really align with drug abuse, it’s just that they didn’t really scream “drug abuse”. If it was I think there would be a different focus, it’s just the intensity of the “hallucinations” that would point to drug abuse, I believe it’s a different matter, depending on what it is, that would be sought out to seem a bit scarier than it really is. Even though I don’t have any real idea for the actual meaning, and I did like the drug abuse theory, I just don’t find it very likely. Loved the game either way. Super disturbing and a nice, long watch 🙏
The childhood parts is because the mc is taking drugs to go back to that blissfull state of childhood, where time seems endless and the world is mystical. Sadly, the more he takes the less potent it becomes and his real life struggles comes knocking, thus the corruption. Could also be that he has trauma from childhood abuse and is trying to escape that aspect of his life, but he needs to take higher and higher doses to get there, which also results in worse hallucinations.
Hey, Big Gaming. I just want you to say that you make the best horror content on RUclips due to your down to earth nature. As such, I have a request for you to play a game called "Bad Parenting". It's quite possibly the most personal game I have ever encountered due to its subject matter.
I recommend ann Summery: Its a game about a girl named ann, she forgot her chip at her university, and when she got her chip on the top floor she decided to do some work while shes there and she falls asleep, then when she wakes up the university was closed and you have to go through different clues and puzzles, and theres a missing person there that would haunt you and maybe kill you because i did not complete it full, stay safe big gaming! Love your vids
I have a question for you. You might have already answered it before and I forgot but, where do you get the art in your intros? Do you commission someone? Do you make it yourself? Or are they just images from the internet?
I swear this whole game was 6 hours (Btw I was the 420 person to like) My theory: So this little boy's parents gifted him a ball a rabbit plushie and a dog and he got bullied cuz he still plays with a ball and having a plushie but he loved these toys but then his parents died and he had to take care of himself but he had his dog with him so soon he started thinking about the toys he had and one day at school a bully stole his ball and he lost his bunny plushie and then his dog died and one day he fell asleep but he never woke up again but he was still alive in a word where his parents didn't die and he didn't lose his Ball and bunny plushie and his dog didn't die he fell asleep in the dream world just to wake up and find all of his toys missing and his dog too so he falls asleep and has these dreams every day and he is stuck in this loop forever but something or someone is controlling his dream world But the little boy doesn't even realise where he is or where he came from but something or someone is controlling his dream world he's stuck in this world till the end of time . ...- . -. / .- ..-. - . .-. / .... . / -.. .. . ... (first person to de code this has my respect or if none of you guess it right I will reveal at 100 likes) ...but hey it's just a theory... A GAME THEORY! Pls | ↓
i played this game twice before, i love the art and the whole experience also thanks for the advice at the beginning, it is true we tend to not listen really well
I think its about an adult man remembering his childhood trauma (getting bullied, loosing his doll, seeing hiis dog get kicked, etc.) and wishing he could have changed things, digging in his memory to try recreate happy moments in his mind. Maybe there are also some connections with other episodes, like the puzzles on the smiling rock(wich could have rapresented toxic friendship relation, where the guy needed to give and give to be complete) or when he's electrocuted by the floating smiling rocks, that maybe rapresents the pressure he feels seeing others happy, achieving their goals and going over traumas, wich he wasn't able to do.
I feel like the game is a representation of lost innocence in childhood, and no matter how hard you try, you never can reclaim the childhood you lost. Those memories and items being forever scarred by the traumas in your life, no matter what you try.
I feel like a bunch of people just gathered in a room, took a bunch of different drugs, and just spouted whatever came to mind before making it into a game
my interpretation is kinda two-layered. I think on the purely-in-universe end the smiling man was using inflicted nightmares as a vehicle by which to possess the child and be able to enter the waking world using his body as a vessel, and at the end succeeded. But on a more metatextual level I think this is a far less literal rumination on the experience of trauma and how it can often feel like something darker and less human than you walked away with your life, like your life, to some degree, ended when you were traumatized, and something else took over, to the point where some people will even feel like they're prisoners in their own bodies, not actually making decisions via any process they consciously understand, just acting on survival instincts forged by their trauma and will to survive - instincts which, once the dangerous situation has passed, can actually be more harmful to your continued life. This isn't to say that this is true or that it should be taken as true. You're still you, and you're still human. But the feeling is definitely very real.
I do not remember a phew things in the game that he played but I do enjoy hearing his opinion, but the music I heard in the game- it just gives me nostalgia since I did watch a play through of it years ago, maybe when I was 10 or 11

Another fire video from you also thank you for supporting the RUclips community and being always happy to make videos 😁
"Ok, now THIS looks like a flashback because we have our hair again" made me laugh so much lmao
Hey look another furry ;3.
I was just waiting for you to post love your content
What's wild about this game is that it's by the same people who made Chuchel and Samorost (One of my favorite indie series!).
11:01 So polite, even when confronted with absolute horror.
Dude, best advice from your channel, very valuable to think about in so many scenarios. Thank you Big Gaming !!
I AM SO READY FOR A LONGER PLAY RN LETS GO!!
This game is a lot more weirder if you watch it while haven't slept for a day or two, but as more as I felt foggy & sleepy the more it made sense.
Thank you so much! I've been looking forward to watching this game play 😁😁 hope your having an amazing day big g!
This is unsettling lol that’s a word for you to describe
I’m new to this channel but it’s already the best I’ve seen for horror games. Nice work 😊
Today is a goooood day to be an Amanita Design fan, so glad to see a new playthrough of the game! Especially from such a neat youtuber
i think this game is about some loss of childhood innocence and how it still stays in our protagonist’s mind
Man i love your videos keep it up❤
@Abyssriver had the same theory as I did: terminal illness. to build on top of that: it's the forced sundering of his childhood. and putting on a brave face. or it's simply about being forced to grow up before he's ready. in any case, I've never said "wtf" so many times in rapid concession in my life. i never want to see this game again 😀
Thanks for giving mental health advice, I really enjoy it, and you don’t know how much it means to me and how much joy I get from these videos, thank you.
AHH THIS IS MY FAVORITE GAME!!! I wish it was longer I absolutely love the surreal imagery
3:45 that's actually exactly what it is!
Team cherry were always making point and clicks and they did actually start with flash and slowly improve technically.
I don't really think I'm fine anymore
Sir. You right there are my favourite youtuber.i love the time where you tell people mental health tips before the video starts.i really like your content I'd pay for your vids keep going the best ytber♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
YAAAAAY! THIS BRINGS ME AN EXTREMELY LEGITIMATE FEELING OF JOY! I AM VERY HUMAN. THESE ARE NORMAL FEELINGS. WE ARE ALL NORMAL. DO NOT STOP SMILING. 😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊

Nice video and I love those talks in the beginning
"wow the most happiest game ever"
but you realised...its not a happy game...
Also BigGaming64 im big fan of your videos keep up the good work man :D
Could also be that he has trauma from childhood abuse and is trying to escape that aspect of his life, but he needs to take higher and higher doses to get there, which also results in worse hallucinations.
the only guy who made me lose my fear of spooky a$$ games
Hey, Big Gaming.
I just want you to say that you make the best horror content on RUclips due to your down to earth nature.
As such, I have a request for you to play a game called "Bad Parenting".
It's quite possibly the most personal game I have ever encountered due to its subject matter.
Man this game is such nostalgic, thanks for covering it man
Thanks for that speech at the beginning bro! I'm gonna talk to my crush asap!
no way its by the creators of machinarium and samorost! those are really fun (non horror) puzzle games that i really enjoyed playing through
Hey big! So proud of your channel growth, congrats on half a mil! Still love your vids and I hope you have a wonderful day
THIS IS NOT HAPPY DREAM
THIS IS NIGHTMARE😭😭😭😭
he is dreaming of all of the things he has lost, and the smiling man is having him dream of things to get them back.
Currently watching this before bed.
Needless to say, I’m not sleeping tonight 💀
It's been a while since I've watched RUclips, so I'm just now seeing your new intro, it looks good and I'm glad to see you're doing well
Please play death park 1 & 2!💛
I recommend ann
Summery:
Its a game about a girl named ann, she forgot her chip at her university, and when she got her chip on the top floor she decided to do some work while shes there and she falls asleep, then when she wakes up the university was closed and you have to go through different clues and puzzles, and theres a missing person there that would haunt you and maybe kill you because i did not complete it full,
stay safe big gaming! Love your vids
you are the fred rogers of horror lets plays and that is probably the best compliment i could give anyone
I have a question for you. You might have already answered it before and I forgot but, where do you get the art in your intros? Do you commission someone? Do you make it yourself? Or are they just images from the internet?
Very
Ugh I’m addicted to your videos!😭
I love Happy Game so much! I'm so happy that you finally played it!
Yay! An hr and a half with big g 🎉
It makes me so angry that he doesn't understand *anything* in this game which means a big part of the horror aspect doesn't happen. }:(
He makes me so happy 😭😭😭
This game is clearly a drug analogy, the slowly setting off the walking thing and it running off, the smily face he couldn't take off, and the ending.
I swear this whole game was 6 hours
(Btw I was the 420 person to like)
My theory:
So this little boy's parents gifted him a ball a rabbit plushie and a dog and he got bullied cuz he still plays with a ball and having a plushie but he loved these toys but then his parents died and he had to take care of himself but he had his dog with him so soon he started thinking about the toys he had and one day at school a bully stole his ball and he lost his bunny plushie and then his dog died and one day he fell asleep but he never woke up again but he was still alive in a word where his parents didn't die and he didn't lose his Ball and bunny plushie and his dog didn't die he fell asleep in the dream world just to wake up and find all of his toys missing and his dog too so he falls asleep and has these dreams every day and he is stuck in this loop forever but something or someone is controlling his dream world
But the little boy doesn't even realise where he is or where he came from but something or someone is controlling his dream world he's stuck in this world till the end of time

(first person to de code this has my respect or if none of you guess it right I will reveal at 100 likes)
...but hey it's just a theory...
A GAME THEORY!

It always makes me HAPPY when Biggamming64 posts (:
The mental health tips that he gives benefit me so much. It’s genuinely so important.
Why does this game give me a little nightmares vibes?
Poptropica looking more wild than I remember
i played this game twice before, i love the art and the whole experience
also thanks for the advice at the beginning, it is true we tend to not listen really well
I think its about an adult man remembering his childhood trauma (getting bullied, loosing his doll, seeing hiis dog get kicked, etc.) and wishing he could have changed things, digging in his memory to try recreate happy moments in his mind.
Maybe there are also some connections with other episodes, like the puzzles on the smiling rock(wich could have rapresented toxic friendship relation, where the guy needed to give and give to be complete) or when he's electrocuted by the floating smiling rocks, that maybe rapresents the pressure he feels seeing others happy, achieving their goals and going over traumas, wich he wasn't able to do.
yessss i remember this game from way back and it’s still such a banger!!
I feel like the game is a representation of lost innocence in childhood, and no matter how hard you try, you never can reclaim the childhood you lost. Those memories and items being forever scarred by the traumas in your life, no matter what you try.
You should play Psicosis, it is a 2d pixel horror game of a boy that gets bullied for having "imaginarry friends"
I feel like a bunch of people just gathered in a room, took a bunch of different drugs, and just spouted whatever came to mind before making it into a game
Bunny part so scary😱
my interpretation is kinda two-layered.
OOOH I NEVER FINISHED WATCHING THAT GAME, thank you so much for this big g!!!
I feel like you are genuinely a good person and I would pay money just to drink coffee and have some Sunday late breakfast with you
I do not remember a phew things in the game that he played but I do enjoy hearing his opinion, but the music I heard in the game- it just gives me nostalgia since I did watch a play through of it years ago, maybe when I was 10 or 11
This game is at least 2 years old, I saw Fusionzgamer play it
53:37 He's got lungs to breath🗣️🔥
I love how this has like a faux-2D-N64-like look and feel to it.
Pretty old game but I won’t judge, you’re a great creator man, hope you’re doing well.
Hello! Im a newish subscriber to the channel,and I must say,you have quickly become a big comfort youtuber to me,to the point I watch these videos more to see you then to see the game itself,im unsure how this works,but If you take recommendations from future videos,could you check out a game called “Menagerie:Archive”,it’s not traditionally horror,but the game itself has a very somber atmosphere to it,and I think you’d enjoy the short story of it too :}
I've seen other people play thus game. But, I could never finish them for lots if reasons, like the wifi went out, the power whent out, generator shut off, or my mum just wanted the TV. Hope I get to watch the full thing this time :)
Y'know how in the end he gets his thing back I think the smiling man is good and helping him to get his stuff back
