I wish when you where in the pool rooms, you added a slight reverb to your audio. It would be really cool if developers made it so you could speak through a mic in game, and hear the reverb off the actual environment. When you first turned on the feedback button, I thought that was what was going on and got really excited by the idea.
I've always wanted a secret achievement kind of thing where if you sit and stare into one of those empty doorways. You get "stare into the abyss." 5:25 I have a few thoughts on this. I think you can have both. I think the best way to have a monster in the backrooms is not to have a constant chase mechanic, but for the player to *know* it’s there but rarely if ever interact with it. That way, not only are you lost in an endless void of subliminal structure, but you know there’s something else that lives there, so it knows how to find you. This needs to crossover with Eldritch vibes. The Old Ones or the lesser fiends, like the fungal and supernatural creature Lovecraft was calling a "vampire"... I for the life of me can't remember which short that was. But yeah, it's a place between places, so things from other worlds sometimes "oops" in. Like you did. Something simple as that.
Yes less is often more with horror. It would be really scary if you dont interact with it constantly, but every so often you see it watching you or moving in the distance for a second or two. Just enough to make you feel on edge all the time.
Yes, I think the problem with both extremes is that you'll get numb to it fairly quickly. It's hard to keep the tension up when it's all creepy rooms or all monsters chasing you all the time. I think creepy rooms + knowing a monster's around but you don't know how close helps change things up.

Also just to clarify when i say the clock is counting the time spent in game I obviously know he did not spent 9 years I think the game has a preset time when you load up the game and it adds the seconds you spent playing the game either when you first loaded the game or when a certain room was rendered

@@GillAndBurtTheCop sure it was funny, but funniest? Really? Well if you really think it's the "funniest" thing you have ever heard, is your lifespan that of a common house rat? No offense I'm just genuinely curious
Not done watching the video yet, but the base walking speed is below that of a normal human, that stuff annoys me in games. I get it's part of the experience, but it's not about the speed of movement itself, it's that the sound of the steps taken and the bobbing of the camera is just so slow. Give it a more normal pace, without actually increasing the speed and that'd be a fine solution for me personally.
Bro how were you so chill during this. I have extreme paranoia of dark water even if it’s not deep. And you didn’t even think teice to just walk in. My heart jumped every time you got in that water. Then I swear bro entered every doorway with his back turned. Like you’re gonna kill me man.
liminal spaces like this remind me of the oldschool minecraft website demo, where you just had trippy basic terain forever, no fancy lighting, no animals, mobs or anything. it gave me the creeps worse than the legit game
God I loved and hated the Minecraft website demo, it had multiple and you only had a hotbar of items like brick, dirt, sand etc used to sneakily play during school hours with friends. But I played alone sometimes and it just had this feeling of dread and emptyness that I used to get, like when you okay a multiplayer game on a school lunch or late at night and there's no one online, sitting in the dark with only your monitor on oof those were the days.
Alright, listen, the sound, the design is absolutely stunning. The best thing is the water physics i love it, and the lighting is just top-notch by far most beutifull and eerie liminal space ive ever seen,i would love to play this. THANKYOU FOR THE GAMEPLAY IGP always the best ❤ EDIT : at 35:07 now I remember that I've seen this before in demo, and in demo you couldn't use the slides, they improve even the smallest detail, honestly just amazing.
I could have sworn I heard a flatline noise (or dialtone, but the ending makes it clear) throughout a lot of the game, tucked away in the ambiance. It ties back to the scene in the house with the phone too, and looming faces making mournful noises and expressions. So much thought put into it.
I like the progressive story telling, along with the parallels for flesh and stone. It makes more sense the deeper you go, things like the snake maybe being a parasitic worm, the round dudes being an infection, the mannequins being consumed people from the past, and everything leading you to the heart where you understand that the rooms are alive. Im my opinion, the monster was always the rooms themselves. And i appreciate the attempt to make a game that focuses on that alot.
31:20 - this is an absolutely glorious moment. He gets scared, then before he can even verbalise what he thought it was he gets spooked again. Its like a reverse-reverse-jumpscare lol
I really love how this game actually shows you you're not alone but doesn't revolve around monsters in the backrooms. It makes it soooo much more unsettling and tense then games with absolutely no other moving being.
Lost inside the poolrooms reminded me of people in coma, especially with the heart at the end, where the heart stopped as if you have found yourself and either died or woke up, it made me think of it. Lovely design and the knowledge of the snake gave me chills, knowing there is a monster, but it is hidden, the knowledge that it knows and just watches and can pop up any time is dreadfull. I will be buying this one and I will play it, its just too good to pass.
it would be awesome if someone made a game using that microphone feedback option, but like you had to use it to make sure you're still yourself, i.e. your voice sounds normal if you're normal but if it sounds off, then you know something is slowly taking you over or something.
24:02 that staircase leading up to that huge dark opening with those moaning sounds was way too much even for me! Definitely a fallen angel that we're hearing or something unimaginably dark, SO IMPRESSIVE!!! 27:57 they reused the same sound but without the massive reverb and vocal filter.
Okay okay GENUINLY these backrooms videos have changed my life dude. I love liminal spaces and they’re my comfort topic and watching these videos just make me so happy
It's crazy how big they've gotten. I think people have done a disservice to the creepiness of the Backrooms by adding monsters to it. In my opinion the horror works best when you are alone. The environment itself is extremely unsettling. Being alone makes it more mysterious and confusing. Why are you here? What are the rules of this reality? How do you leave? There is no way to find out, there's no way to understand. Because you're alone.
@@mewxtwo 🤣 holy sh¡t!! 🤣 I have no clue!! 🤣 I can only guess the text-to-speech got hit and maybe picked up the TV or *_something??_* 🤷♀️ 🤣 I recall putting my phone down and stepping away cause my kids called for me.. my phone was on the floor and everything was gone when I got back. I just assumed one of my animals knocked it down (probably stealing my spot) and it must’ve bounced around on the way down. I have no idea what really happened between stepping away and finding it on the floor.. but it is pretty funny to imagine! 😂
So the direction of the spiral stairs indicates that you're going deeper in when you're going up. Spiral stairs are designed to give a potential "defender" of e.g. a castle more space to swing a sword while the attacker coming upstairs doesn't have that space ( it's designed for swords in your right hand, middle ages and all :) ). It's a small thing, but a bit unsettling if you think about it.
Jörmungandr might be the snake you're thinking of. It encircles the world and bites its own tail and is ultimately responsible for Thor's death. But Ouroboros also consumes itself in an infinite circle.
Having a echo in a backrooms game is genius. The layer of liminal stripped by not being there making sounds is something we probably wouldn't notice till its in there. But for me it add so much more immersion
Wanted to say, I love how you play and commentate! You’re silent when you need to be, throw jokes in at the right time and talk about the mechanics of the game (visual, audible, etc). You also just say what the audience is thinking, good job and keep it up!
hey igp, just wanted to update you about the game Go Home Annie, you played the demo two years ago and ive been hooked, it releases on Dec 3rd if youre still interested- it was a SICK demo. anyway thank you for the content
I really love these types of videos from you. not only do we get your commentary on your experience, but you really take your time and linger a bit on each area, which for me, makes me feel more immersed and like I'm genuinely sharing this experience with you despite being thousands of miles away. Its comforting in an almost frightening way, and 10 minutes might pass but it feels like I'm experiencing with you for hours
I love how perceptions are completely different between two people IGP is like "Wow this is one of the best and most unsettling backrooms games" meanwhile Vinny is like "This is just the same asset and pool shit as all the other games" after 10 minutes of playing.
Honestly seeing that huge figure covered in a sheet is so freaking cool, I'm a big fan of large structures and idk if theres a word for liking large structures (like megalophobia) but man seeing that must be overwhelming
28:52 the funny thing about this, is that animals are something I would expect in a liminal space if it is broken down enough. Because if no people are there, animals would find the liminal space nice.
I like the idea that it reflects different stages of life but seen through the eyes of someone slowly dying, remembering each corrupted part, not exactly how it should be, no longer in touch with reality. The flat line at the end representing the death of that person. Final release from hell over the 9 years it took for them to die. Scary thought.
I really liked the half submerged suburban houses with old timey music playing. And of course the giant faces/heads, those were terrifying and awesome.
What would be super interesting is if you get lost in a liminal space and you hear other people while trying to find your way out. Like, maybe someone singing a lullaby, or a busy street. But always off in the distance and you never know if the space is leading you further in or your just out of reach of the rescue.
that mic feedback is an awesome feature for non-youtubers. just to be able to yell "hello" and hear it echo like if you were actually there and not in a game
honestly since first coming across this channel I cant state how nice it is that this channel is so straight forward, I'm really able to both enjoy the horror game and the CC at the same time without the game feeling interrupted. Awesome stuff
At 12:10 in the vod, the steps u went down weren't physical in the demo. I remember watching u try to walk down them and u fell right thru. Simply love the detail and all the eerie sounds this game has, this is by far one of the best liminal space backrooms I've seen yet.
I absolutely love it when horror games keep you on edge, bulding up the paranoia and the constant fear that something is out there, waiting jump out at you, except nothing ever does. The scares are scarcely used, relying mostly on the atmosphere and the surrealism of the space. Chef's kiss. 👌🏻
Jam so bad with jumpscares but I like horror so these games are the vest for me (plus I like the feeling you get in your stomach when you realise the scale of a place yu are in )
Yeah so that number that was counting up, that was 281,102,287 seconds which is almost 9 years, so no I don't think that its been counting up since you started playing lol
the game of many large zones. i love games with huge sense of scale and cool skyboxes and this is just that, and only that. and it manages to not be boring. good job dev, and IGP !
28:28 That's an odd... it's moving...the f**k?! 😳 Ok soooooo a giant purple snake? 31:21 You mother...hmmmmmm... Ok I'll give the dev credit on that one. As well placed an unexpected site as the snake was. Oh and Indie, it sounds like you were thinking of Jormungandr from Norse Mythology? And yes, he is often depicted as an Ourobouros, because he wraps around the world and bites his own tail.
I really like these liminal space games because they are just so enigmatic and I can enjoy the feeling of creating my own story from them. I feel like there's a path this game is following, the no smoking sign, the timer that has been counting for extremely long, the strange thumb shaped creatures, especially the ones that block you in. From the story I see here: you're an addicted smoker (the no smoking sign and the extremely long timer) You were pressured by your peers into smoking (the strange thumb creatures giggling and trapping you in) The screaming heads stuck in a petrified state could be you shouting or your parents shouting, perhaps a breakup occured. The dilated eyeballs on one of the thumb creatures could stand for the state of being high, the odd delirious flowers that can also mean the same. The strange plants that suddenly appear (could be a symbol for cannabis). The strange obsession with eyeballs and being stared at which could be the fear of being watched. The giant entity being hidden by a cloth could mean the attempt to hide yourself or separate yourself from the outside world. The strange repeated images of playground assets (could represent nostalgia or the want to be unborn). The eventual disappearance of the thumb shaped creatures(your peers) which lead the the feeling of being alone and no support which delves into the next topic. The defiance of gravity (specifically walking up a wall which could be synonymous with the idiom "to drive up a wall" meaning to drive one crazy) which could mean your character is slowly driving itself crazy. I think this leads to the eventually insanity of the player (the nonsensical stairs and slides), and death (the ending with the dying heart). I remember I heard somewhere that the point of the horror genre isn't just to scare the living crap out of you, but it's also to bring up more question than answers (in a good way). It's a reason many sequels to horror movies are often looked down upon (this is subjective. This view can change from person to person). I think that's what these games are really great at doing. There doesn't have to be a story or a correct path the game has to follow, which allows you to imagine the game in your own way which comes with a sense of fascination and exploration.
I think this is legit the first liminal space game that made me anxious and scared without jumpscares. My heart is beating faster and nothing is happening besides walking so far lmao.
My cat passed away on Halloween and it's been really hard to cope with it since I've had her for 19 years, but this video made the anxiety drift away for a bit and let me just enjoy
I Love the different veriaity of the backroom Games especialy These ones who Focus more the ambiance instead of being chased by Monsters great Video keep it Up
I'm glad we're slowly leaning back into the liminal part of the backrooms. As much as I love entity based Backrooms games, they get a really gimmicky really quickly, and it ruins the immersion. It's refreshing to see more games like this!
I was looking through all the lets plays of this game on youtube and you are pretty much the only one smart enough to not put your face up on the screen for this game. Totally ruins the immersion. So thanks!
Absolutely love this and I haven’t even watched much yet- I watched the POOLS video multiple times because something about the atmosphere is just so- idek it just makes me wanna shrimp-curl in a blanket and watch the video all night, it is a major comfort of mine. And now, THIS!!! ty for playing more games like this IGP, they are absolutely delightful ^^
I'm 41 and ever since I was about 6, I've had dreams about liminal spaces. Not very often, but they've always either made me feel at peace or extremely anxious, lol. Because of those dreams, I was immediately obsessed with this genre! I don't play the games because I have WAY too much anxiety for that, but I watch a LOT of these videos, lol. Liminal spaces have always intrigued me, although I had no clue they were called that until people started making content about them, lol. Great game, but the ending was a little anticlimactic for me, lol.
@danicruz9354 mainly I dreamt about big rooms with columns throughout them or I would dream about this mall I went to when I was 6, but there wouldn't be any stores or people in it. That mall is what started the dreams and my fascination with liminal spaces, lol. I went there in like '88 or '89, so you can imagine the immaculate 80's vibes it gave off, lol.
absolutely love it when backrooms games bend gravity because it brings me back to my childhood with Monument Valley, which, absolutely awesoke game holy shit bro. I *LOVED* Monument Valley one and two hol y moly Reality bending and illusions have got to be one of my favourite things ever. no wonder i like the backrooms so much
Thanks for the video, sir: Solitude can be just as damaging to the psyche as fear of a creature. It can cause hallucinations and all sorts of things. This game captures that pretty well.
I love watching you play these kinds of games! The background is somewhat calming to listen to and your voice over makes it more fun! Thanks for making these kinds of videos with voice over audio and without!
You mentioned about the fidelity of games lately. I find myself remembering about how blown away I was with the graphics of Myst and how realistic it looked.
Genuinely on the edge of my metaphorical seat, I am not phased by horror most the time, but something about liminal spaces man... This is easily the best game of this genre i've seen so far, just due to it not relying on chases and sudden noises to surprise the player, thanks for the vid.
This one REALLY scared me! Nice job on the immersion! Always the best thing about your gameplays, I feel like playing and discovering the game with you!
Of course, at least we’re starting here. Oh, hello, this little water effect. Welcome to Liminalcore. This game has been looking really good from what I’ve seen. I’ve been meaning to play it since the demo came out. Looks like here we’re in the pool rooms. Also, just because I want to say it right away, there’s a setting in here, and I don’t know what it’s for, but check this out. Look, hello. Hello. Isn’t that weird? Isn’t that weird? What? Why is this here? Why is this here? Now, that had me thinking that it was possible that the game detects your microphone, which, of course, like any game even remotely in the horror genre that utilizes that mechanic, I’m all for it. The problem is, I can’t turn down the actual feedback for me in-game without affecting other things, so I’m going to keep it off. If there’s any point in the game where it says that I need to have the microphone enabled or it adds immersion, I’ll put it on and try my best. But for now, I’m leaving it off. So we’re in the pool rooms. I don’t know if there’s any particular story to this, but I will say this is looking goddamn beautiful, if I do say so myself. Will I die if I go in here? I feel like I’m going to drown if I go in here. I’m going to go in. Wait. Oh, it was the reflections. I thought this was way deeper than I got. Bamboozled. Interesting. You know, this is really giving, I know we’re in the pool rooms, but this is really giving a vibe of pools, strangely enough. Like everything, like the visuals, the audio feels very pool-like. Could run, that’s good. Always good to be able to run. There are VHS effects, by the way, if you want to play with that kind of immersion, but I don’t know. I’d rather be in the shoes of the guy, not watching him experience the back rooms. You know, the found footage thing is cool, but sometimes I’d rather not.

I was unaware you could upload multitrack videos. Good to know :)
The world serpant you tried to say is pronounced "your-man-gander"
And is spelled "jormungandr"
Without your commentary I would'nt waste my time watching this video. The games quality is 99% lower without your lovely voice 😊

This is Epic for us ❤ that you are playing it. Dream come true moment
I hope you loved the game. We just started watching the video
Same timeframe!!
Good screams for us all 😂😂😂😂
Congrats on the great game!! Amazing and beatiful work!
Thanks for letting me playtest this! You guys rock,
Not done watching the video yet, but the base walking speed is below that of a normal human, that stuff annoys me in games. I get it's part of the experience, but it's not about the speed of movement itself, it's that the sound of the steps taken and the bobbing of the camera is just so slow. Give it a more normal pace, without actually increasing the speed and that'd be a fine solution for me personally.
Loved it. Hope you enjoyed the video and hope nothing but success for you guys!
The snake from the Norse is called Jormungandr.
Bro how were you so chill during this. I have extreme paranoia of dark water even if it’s not deep. And you didn’t even think teice to just walk in. My heart jumped every time you got in that water. Then I swear bro entered every doorway with his back turned. Like you’re gonna kill me man.
Once I ended up dying going into deep water I knew it would never be deep if it's clearly where I'm supposed to go so that got ruined for me haha
Sorry bro do you know those body of human like thing it was in the cloth
Bro take a soapy ass bath and I swear to God that bathwater gonna be Mudddyyyy
ikr, makes me think there's gunna be a tsunami or smth
liminal spaces like this remind me of the oldschool minecraft website demo, where you just had trippy basic terain forever, no fancy lighting, no animals, mobs or anything. it gave me the creeps worse than the legit game
THANKYOU FOR THE GAMEPLAY IGP always the best ❤
EDIT : at 35:07 now I remember that I've seen this before in demo, and in demo you couldn't use the slides, they improve even the smallest detail, honestly just amazing.
Wow, it’s 5 AM and IGP decides to bless me with my favorite series! Guess sleep is overrated....
Exactly 😂
I never sleep 😊
I stay up the whole night and next night and then after that night I fall asleep
That's funny bc I see new video and ik I'm sleeping good tonight ( I fall asleep better when I'm listening to some kind of story )
Its now just after 4pm for me, so its the best time hahaha
That's a cool concept😀
24:02 that staircase leading up to that huge dark opening with those moaning sounds was way too much even for me! Definitely a fallen angel that we're hearing or something unimaginably dark, SO IMPRESSIVE!!! 27:57 they reused the same sound but without the massive reverb and vocal filter.
Okay okay GENUINLY these backrooms videos have changed my life dude. I love liminal spaces and they’re my comfort topic and watching these videos just make me so happy
It became a movement like for real
They’re literally like my comfort spaces, especially the pool ones… and like a nightmare all at the same time.
@@anicoleww what in the world happened to the end of your comment 😂
@@mewxtwo 🤣 holy sh¡t!! 🤣 I have no clue!! 🤣
I can only guess the text-to-speech got hit and maybe picked up the TV or *_something??_* 🤷♀️ 🤣
I recall putting my phone down and stepping away cause my kids called for me.. my phone was on the floor and everything was gone when I got back. I just assumed one of my animals knocked it down (probably stealing my spot) and it must’ve bounced around on the way down.
I have no idea what really happened between stepping away and finding it on the floor.. but it is pretty funny to imagine! 😂
I love how you mix your commentary with the atmosphere to make it sound like you’re actually there. You do it every video and I love it.
YAYY ANOTHER BACKROOMS VIDEO!! genuinely some of my favorites from you, especially the more "exploration" type ones
It's a small thing, but a bit unsettling if you think about it.
i love the way you add the effect to ur voice based on your surroundings in game
The sound design on this one is otherworldly good. Kudos to the creator.
Absolutely, the unsettling feeling throughout the game is unmatched

hey igp, just wanted to update you about the game Go Home Annie, you played the demo two years ago and ive been hooked, it releases on Dec 3rd if youre still interested- it was a SICK demo. anyway thank you for the content
39:49 I laughed so hard at the noise you made here. That alone made this worth watching.
ditto!
That noise was amazing
I love how perceptions are completely different between two people
IGP is like "Wow this is one of the best and most unsettling backrooms games"
meanwhile Vinny is like "This is just the same asset and pool shit as all the other games" after 10 minutes of playing.
I don't recall him saying it in a derogatory way. He did mention he was fascinated with Poolrooms and the like.
Honestly seeing that huge figure covered in a sheet is so freaking cool, I'm a big fan of large structures and idk if theres a word for liking large structures (like megalophobia) but man seeing that must be overwhelming
megalofilia? a filia is supposed to be the opposite of a phobia
The water graphics are gorgeous, and the sounds and echos are amazing as well. I love this whole game already. It's creepy yet oddly calming ^_^
honestly since first coming across this channel I cant state how nice it is that this channel is so straight forward, I'm really able to both enjoy the horror game and the CC at the same time without the game feeling interrupted. Awesome stuff
26:45 it was so dope hearing you only say "but nothing happens" once after saying a bunch twice
At 12:10 in the vod, the steps u went down weren't physical in the demo. I remember watching u try to walk down them and u fell right thru. Simply love the detail and all the eerie sounds this game has, this is by far one of the best liminal space backrooms I've seen yet.
17:03 I really like this for some reason and I don't know why
same
I absolutely love it when horror games keep you on edge, bulding up the paranoia and the constant fear that something is out there, waiting jump out at you, except nothing ever does.
I like the coma theory
the game of many large zones. i love games with huge sense of scale and cool skyboxes and this is just that, and only that. and it manages to not be boring. good job dev, and IGP !
Jörmungandr?
@@k7l3rworkman97 Yes, I typed the name on my keyboard so I couldn't add the correct O substitute/symbol.
I always love the editing in your videos where your voice matches the environment it is in. So immersive when watching fullscreen at night
I really like these liminal space games because they are just so enigmatic and I can enjoy the feeling of creating my own story from them.
I feel like there's a path this game is following, the no smoking sign, the timer that has been counting for extremely long, the strange thumb shaped creatures, especially the ones that block you in.
From the story I see here:
you're an addicted smoker (the no smoking sign and the extremely long timer)
You were pressured by your peers into smoking (the strange thumb creatures giggling and trapping you in)
The screaming heads stuck in a petrified state could be you shouting or your parents shouting, perhaps a breakup occured.
I really like how you see this game, I just thought we got eaten by a monster or something lol
This is possibly the best liminal game I’ve seen. I genuinely feel like I’ve seen the pool rooms in a dream
I think this is legit the first liminal space game that made me anxious and scared without jumpscares. My heart is beating faster and nothing is happening besides walking so far lmao.

I'm glad we're slowly leaning back into the liminal part of the backrooms. As much as I love entity based Backrooms games, they get a really gimmicky really quickly, and it ruins the immersion. It's refreshing to see more games like this!

All will be made clear to you once you hit 42
What were some of those settings in your dreams, what did the liminal spaces look like
@danicruz9354 mainly I dreamt about big rooms with columns throughout them or I would dream about this mall I went to when I was 6, but there wouldn't be any stores or people in it.
I *LOVED* Monument Valley one and two hol y moly
Reality bending and illusions have got to be one of my favourite things ever. no wonder i like the backrooms so much

Thanks for the video, sir:
Solitude can be just as damaging to the psyche as fear of a creature. It can cause hallucinations and all sorts of things. This game captures that pretty well.
