my inner child coming out : are we there yet! are we there yet! i'm 62 and i can't wait to see the finish build on the bug and little jewel. great job guys. and yes the process is also a great part of doing the job. i remember when i built my own house and every day looking at where i started and where i ended up each day and feeling like i had really gotten a lot done that day good feeling!!!
As an mechanical engineer who has to overthink every dimension in a design, it is so satisfying to watch Ian wing it with perfection. Really enjoy this channel and the dialog.
I didn't watch a lot of TV. Every time I went to spend time with my dad who was fighting cancer he'd introduce me to car stuff he liked to watch and id sit there and watch with him. I recently found your stuff and realized it was you he watched. Your project here looks like a really cool unique personal build. Very cool.
I don't do metal work but I love watching how a master can adapt and overcome and am happy you are doing this because this kind of stuff is a rare art.
I have to say, I have watched many fabrication shows but no one is as comfortable as Ian when using his cutoff grinder! The way he eyeballed the filler piece was phenomenal! He gives me the confidence to attempt doing some of these metal working jobs!
I see your broadcasts from France, and I am in awe of your work and your passion. I have dogs like you, and I listen to them. You are a true professional and I love your shows! ! Congratulations ! Fred Duc in France
Good to see you back on the vw although the truck is pretty cool to watch morph. You sure make it all look easy Ian. Thanks for bringing us along on your adventures it’s great fun and educational as you share your process. You 2 are quite the team and look good together 👍👍✌️
Watching you work is very relaxing. It's almost Zen like. I know I keep asking but please don't skimp on the filming of the metal finishing. I'm really interested in seeing the car in an almost bare metal finish before final body work. Loved Jamie's comments on the Tacos. So much so I'm going out for Tacos tonight. Can't wait for episode 22. Keep up the great work.
I have a quick suggestion that should solve your door limiter issue just turn the door limiter around so that it goes into the body instead of into the door that’s what I’ve done in the past the other way you can do it is put a small limiting strap in there And it’ll be out-of-the-way as well
So Ian as a follow up on you last video I have booked you for a week at proboscis are us. I have asked your concierge to watch some of your videos in preparation of your visit. May the force be with you.
I'm really digging this bug build. You have a great gift, and have been blessed with a good woman and a nice shop to support your art work. Keep it up bro!👍👍👍
Great work. The small bits of info during the process are great. Waiting for the next installment to see what's next....the rear, side window.. and the insides of thr doors. Jamie, your video skills are PROFESSIONAL. We get to see what Ian is doing without him stopping to wait for the camera to catch up. Thank you.
Thank you for the channel. You know I'm my opinion your the most inspirational builder I watch. I just love the REAL content, not made for tv. I also love the free hand go with the flow style. Your my number 1 pick if course but I think you and bad Chad are the best real deal builders there is. Thanks again. This car is gonna be insane.
Hey! Lovin’ the work!! If you want to try wind up windows, and those door checks are getting in the way. You can buy door checks designed for the standard bug one piece window conversion. So if the structure allows, then maybe with those door checks, it’s possible. 👍
It is really awesome hust to see all the metalwork that early goes into a build. Whereas on the show. It's like this is what has to happen. Next episode so this is what I did to achieve this look. Love this.
Awesome work Ian.! Eyeball engineering at its best. You make my day every time I watch your latest offering. Inspires me to tackle my own resto. Keep it up!!
When I need to duplicate the opposite side I sometimes set up a mirror where I can see what I already did from where I am working. I use a high quality plastic mirror instead of a glass 1 for obvious reasons.
Get the EPSON-2720 However they might have a newer version .. those bottles of ink are state of the art . no more cartridges! GREAT SHOW! I still watch the re-reruns
Greetings from South Carolina. Ian I was thinking...for your door limiter...use a nylon strap with counter- sunk bracket & screws. It will fold over itself & leave you room inside the door. Just a thought? Enjoying the show👍✌️
Hi Ian, can't wait ti see the next Part on this project. It has been an eye opener for me, if I was 60 years younger that would be my work of choice. You are indeed a ;metal master'🛻🚙🚘🚗🚖🚕🚔
The earlier bugs had a strap on the inside of the door and jam before the inside slider restrictions were made, changing to this style will remove the window space problem.
I was listening to your consideration to adding the wing window or Not. Problem being the door stop entering the door when closing the door. Is it possible to turn them around, so that the door stop enters body frame?
How to match a second side to the first isf you have documented the first process is by going over the footage in detail and try and match the cuts and the pieces...
Great stuff! As always another great video guy's. Excited for every new episode and can't wait for the finish product
Sometimes I am not sure which I enjoy the most: watching Ian work his magic or listening to Jami's wonderful laugh!!!!
She is a gift ❤😃
Jami is slowing Ian down?
@@robertestrada1683 No, they work well together.
@@tetsuo2195 You're just Jealous..
@@tetsuo2195 Ian gives commentary also, you're just being weird.

62 is still young. Coming from a 36yr old. I know many that are that age and don't miss a beat. I know what ya meant though. ARE WE THERE YET!?!?!?

A necessary art as well...
I love the dynamic you’ve brought to the channel working with your wife at hand. Really ads a wonderful new dimension. Thankyou
Big Daddy Roth just used his "eyechrometer" - Many of his creations were accidently or intentionally asymmetrical. :>)
Great decision to show this process. Any other show, the “mirror” work happens off screen as if by magic.
I learn something new every time I watch you!
Splendid, thank you both for being so awesome.
I learn more tricks from you everyday. Thanks to you both.
Our pleasure!
I have to say, I have watched many fabrication shows but no one is as comfortable as Ian when using his cutoff grinder! The way he eyeballed the filler piece was phenomenal! He gives me the confidence to attempt doing some of these metal working jobs!
Thanks for sharing 😀👍
thanks a ton for the shout out! your the best!
Finally! It's good to have Ian back to work on his projects. We missed you guys!
Let the good times roll!

I love watching replays. I don’t get tired of it
The Mohave power couple doin their thing. Ian is looking good in all gray. Thanks for another great video and the fun banter

Big Daddy. What a super builder he was. I remember seeing a lot of his work when I was very little. My Dad also built custom cars. Very awesome!!
I love your content, it saddens me you don't have more followers. Keep on keeping on man! Amazing work!
"Bunny hugged" was the title for the Bugs Bunny Cartoon....BTW.

I think the interaction between you two is awesome. True outer space mates❤
I had the printer dry up problem too . I went to a Laser printer , more set up cost but the ink/toner is a dry powder and doesn't dry up .
And cool the passenger side was a huge difference in time of fabrication than the driver side. Again great job!
Another great video! Can't wait for the next one!👍👍👍

Toujours un grand plaisir de te voir Ian 🚀

From someone that doesn’t do any metal work at all . I can honestly say I get stoked watching you create
As a retired carpenter I giggle when you use the word "Luck". It's not luck It's skill and experience.
I'm excited to see how you do the fiberglass. So crazy how good you are at applying Bondo.. 😂
Me too, im hoping for a plaster of paris free form design like Ed Roths in the future.

Awesome! Thank you!
Idea-Get rid of the door limiter, and put a leather strap like a model t. Thanks for sharing all y'all do!
I am amazed with the confidence you have in your skills. As always, you choose a path and proceed. Great results.. I am a huge fan! 😊
I'm a wood working speaker box guy...flush trim router bit FTW lol...but like I tell people you can only look at 1 side at a time and close is good
I love the bug, great progress...

awesome as always!
🙂👍Customizer No limits approved ! 👍👍👍🇬🇧
Glad to see you back in action
You could use plexy glass and make the door windows sliders!
Olá Ian,sou do Brasil, aqui de campo grande MS,e admiro seus trabalhos com metal.
We're all excited, Jamie, to see the magician at his crafting....👍🤙🇳🇿
Excellent filmography, btw...🙂✅🤙😎

Absolutely, top professional master craftsman.
Not a builder, but I love watching the process. Loved your series where you did the bubble roof car !!!
Thank you!
An idea for the door limiter. Use the strap method, like on a wrangler.
It's fascinating watching the process coming from an innovative, creative & experienced mind! Carry on Sir!
Awesome 👏
Outstanding work there Ian, especially enjoyed the lesson on template making and how to use them to do sheet metal work.
Glad you enjoyed it
By making that pattern to duplicate the foor frame, now u have the perfect pattern for the door glass 😮
Thank you so much for the videos especially considering you just did SEMA ❤ I love you both 😊
Mais um episódio pra conta 👊
Ian! You look like you got sunburned at SEMA? Keep bringing em Brother! Love you're metal work.
Awesome work Ian.! Eyeball engineering at its best. You make my day every time I watch your latest offering. Inspires me to tackle my own resto. Keep it up!!
Great class. Very visual, before and after. With impeccable teaching. It gave me a little jealousy.😃
Fun watching the other side since you'v already done it once.
Thanks . Great video
Thanks!
Thank you!!! 🙏
Thank you for sharing.🛸👽👍
You make it look so easy. How quickly you know the next step. Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!

Your George and Gracie shtick works pretty good
Crushed it! Great job U 2
Thank you!
Luv the channel keep up the great work. Lot of difference that watching it on tv lol
LOOKING GOOD !
Thank you!
Great episode yall , flaming jewel sounds awesome and it would make a killer hood ornament.
Greetings from South Carolina. Ian I was thinking...for your door limiter...use a nylon strap with counter- sunk bracket & screws. It will fold over itself & leave you room inside the door. Just a thought? Enjoying the show👍✌️
Great job! Thanks for the lesson Today, I appreciate it.
Try reversing the door limiter so it's attached to the door, and slides back into the bodywork. My '46 Dodge
pickup doors work like that.
Ian are you going to connect the b pillars with an arch under the fiberglass top stiffen it up?
My old time boat building instructor told me “ You’re never building one boat, you’re building two. One on each side!” Cheers guys, luv y’all
Very true!
Such a cool project! Ian puts the Looney toon in car customizing. Ian is Crushing it🤣🤣🐰

Notnounutha fabricator I’d rather watch! Truly enjoy watching the wizardry unfold before my eyes!
Ian is a super talented guy.
Looking good 👍👍
Can’t wait for the eyes and ear protection.
How many cutoff wheels do you go through in a year and where do you get yours?
Holy cow when will these ever be finished ?
Tomorrow! Stay tuned!
I was listening to your consideration to adding the wing window or Not. Problem being the door stop entering the door when closing the door. Is it possible to turn them around, so that the door stop enters body frame?
Piece by piece and as expected, the second one looks better than the first one.
Hey from Missouri kids!
You can use air to keep the temp down on your weld. Weld it then blow it with compressed air.
How to match a second side to the first isf you have documented the first process is by going over the footage in detail and try and match the cuts and the pieces...
I wondered about that passenger side Wonder no more what a school day thanks for the video
Looks badass
You could eliminate the mechanical door limiter and use a canvas strap like Jeeps have, look at a 2002 two door Wrangler.
A little faster this time awesome job 👏
Could we get some Shop Inspectors GoPro videos.
The floor is Lava, makes them giggle ❤
The cool thing about duplicating the right side is that you can watch the video you made of the left side.
How good are Tacos. Great ep ty.
That's looking good cool idea gives me idea for our truck
I would thank you ..I have never did windows YET
